Then called and left a message and gave me another date and time ,I called back to confirm and left a message no one ever called me back . Fast-forward to today's appointment I get a call this morning that they need to reschedule my appointment due to scheduling conflicts. Stated they called me last week which they did not ,no messages or nothing. And I was sent a message yesterday confirming today's appointment and what I should expect. Very disappointed and maybe more training is needed!

Honestly the only reason I come to this facility is because my PCP is here and I've been his…read morepatient since before I had need for specialists. He's amazing and would get five stars on his own. Unfortunately... the rest of the place leaves something to be desired. The front desk staff is overwhelmingly Christian, which is perhaps to be expected from a pseudo-Catholic hospital affiliate. I'm sure that's great for their mental health, if not their eternal souls, but it does leave one with the issues one generally has with loudly-Christian folk, including self-righteousness, ableism, and homophobia. They've recently taken down the "inspirational" (read: prejudiced) printouts wallpapering many cubicles so we'll see how that goes. I have not had much luck here with specialists: My wife, a friend, and I have been refused exams (by different doctors) because of being overweight. I was told "fat people have pain" as if I am too stupid to tell the difference between mild arthritis and a displaced kneecap. Whoopsie! My wife was accused of drug-seeking after a brutal car accident; I got the same from a different doctor because I worked at a pharmacy for years and used the word "drug" instead of "medication" to describe my super-exciting and TOTALLY recreational cholesterol and blood pressure meds. Despite a pair of vicious surgery scars, I was informed that the surgery I had didn't exist. After I paid out of pocket for copies of 24-year-old paper medical records from a non-affiliated hospital, the doctor acknowledged that I had had the surgery but I just didn't know the right name for it. She refused to tell me the "correct" name. I could go on, and I could name names, but the bottom line is that this is a PERVASIVE issue in the culture of the practice. Patients are treated more like enemy combatants than partners in healthcare. There is a saying or belief in Baltimore about doctors. You go to Hopkins if you're good enough You go to University of Maryland if you can stand the politics You go to Mercy if you can stand the religious culture You go to GBMC if you can't stand either You go to MedStar if no one else will hire you ...Overlea just so often fails to live up to Mercy's place on that list.

After seeing another optical specialist from my health plan, there was a discrepancy about the prescription performed on the glasses I purchased from Levin a year ago. I took them back to the Perry Hall office where they were done originally and explained my concern that the prescription check performed by my optical specialist on my pervious pair did not match what Levin had performed. I was informed by Melanie that there were no issues but she had no problem wanting to schedule me for an eye exam with their optician. I questioned as to WHY I should have another exam even after showing her the recent prescription from my recent optical specialist. After some thought, I agreed to accept the appointment ONLY after it was agreed that I would NOT be charged for the exam via conversational agreement with Melanie. After more though about the scheduled appointment, I later contacted the main office and spoke to Nicole, was referred to Gabrielle at the Harford Road office and explained the matter. I was asked to come in and my glasses were checked by David who was gracious to show me how the prescription was determined. Then, it was suggested by David that I schedule an appointment with their office(Parkville) and be seen by their specialist House on 4/25/22. I stated to both David and Gabrielle that I was already scheduled for an appointment at the Perry Hall office and that I would not be charged. David stated that in other words "he would honor that request'. I do not recall ever speaking to Gabriele about arrangements for making a claim with my Eye Plan for the appointment because I ONLY spoke to David about it at that point. On 4/25/22 I had the appointment with specialist House, thanked Gabrielle and David for being so kind and working with my issue. David also suggested that I'd come to the Parkville office for now on if it's not a problem going forward. With enthusiasm I said 'yes'. 5/2/22: I was notified by my Eye Plan via email that a claim was made by Levin for the 4/25/22 appointment. I then called the Parkville office and was explaining to Gabrielle about what was discussed about the appointment and why a claim was performed by their office. Before I could finish discussing my issue, Gabrielle accused me of not letting her explain why and 'she also stated that "I hurt her feelings, because they were trying their best to assist me". Before I said my last words, Gabrielle continued to say "If I don't like it here then I should go somewhere else". I stated that then 'going forward in the future that maybe I should then' because I was not about to get into a shouting match with her. My biggest concern is 2 things: 1. I stated to Gabrielle that IF she had informed me that a claim was being performed and the copay was being waived, then I would not have made the appointment as I stated to Melanie at the Perry Hall office. 2. Accusing me of 'hurting her feelings and stating that "If I don't like it here then I should go somewhere else"?
