Madhatter is an interesting experience at 6:30 PM on a Friday. I've never been here before but one of my friends wanted to check out the happy hour here. I can see why it has a notorious reputation for being the club to be for young 20-somethings. The interior is a bit dark/creepy, crusty and slightly sticky floors -- a total reminiscent of all the clubs back on any college campus. ORANGE CRUSH (HH) - 6 I don't know how much Smirnoff Orange they put in each one but I was done for the night after two of these. Pretty solid drink, good bang for your buck especially during the happy hour pricing. We got a bunch of bar bites to share, all which were 6.00 each: MAC & CHEESE BITES - Good and cheesy, nicely fried but each order only comes with six, so it's not the best deal. LOADED NACHOS - The plate is sizable and comes with a lot of chips and toppings. The portion size is definitely worth it and it's pretty tasty. PRETZEL BITES - Lots of pretzels with good sauces on the side, but the pretzel bites were way too salty for it to be enjoyable. With less salt, it would have been nice and fluffy. CHICKEN TENDERS - Definitely the most worth it of all the bar bites. Each order comes with three big tenders that were well fried and the chicken was well-cooked and juicy. Also good dipping sauces on the side. LOADED FRIES - Lots of fries with a good amount of cheese, sour cream, and a bunch others mixed in. However, fries are pretty soggy and I don't think we finished it. It's not a classy establishment, but it works out because the pricing here is cheap. A couple of my friends ordered the frozen happy hour cocktails (pina colada and frozen mango-rita). While they thought the drinks were good, it was so cold that they got a brain freeze. If you love Alice in Wonderland, this is the place for you because this place has Alice in Wonderland paraphernalia ALL OVER THE PLACE. We randomly stopped by Madhatter to have an easy breezy brunch. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that the restaurant has bottomless brunch cocktail for an upcharge. I'm actually glad that we did the bottomless brunch because some our dishes were a little subpar. All things eventually taste good when booze is involved. While the Classic Eggs Benedict looked appetizing on the menu, my final result was not so great. A few issues that I had with my food: 1. my food was ice cold; 2. the poached eggs were under cooked; and 3. the Hollandaise sauce had a funny aftertaste. One of our friends really enjoyed their burger, so maybe pub/grill food is the way to go at Madhatter. I will say the restaurant is huge, which is great for large group settings especially for watching college and professional sports. It was kind of interesting because I think there were only about eight people in the restaurant/bar during our visit. Perhaps, the low numbers were due to the nasty weather. But hey, that worked well for us because the bar was not very loud. Also, it made life easy when requesting refills for our bottomless beverages. While I might second guess dropping by for food (or at least non-fried food), I would not mind dropping by again to grab a few cocktails and pints of beer. read more

My friend has a gluten allergy and we had tacos (the tacos were the worst tacos ever, terrible shell, meat, and cheese) but they told us that the tacos were gluten free and when he ate it he got an allergic reaction. He had to go in an ambulance and is currently in the hospital right now. I also have food poisoning. I am so pissed off right now at the service and the terrible place the restaurant is. If you want to get into an ambulance and eat terrible food with food poisoning, then this is the perfect place to eat. This place was so much fun! Come here for a good dance party. I was out here on a Saturday night. No cover charge, just good vibes. Bathroom line never got too long. Probably not that strong but it tastes like a blue jolly rancher to me which i LOVE. The different rooms in the Madhatter are also very fun! There's an upstairs and the theme of the rooms are Alice in Wonderland esque with checkered floors etc. I'm taking off a star because of the strict bathroom situation. The women's bathroom line downstairs was sooo frckin long and moved slowly and they had a security guard letting people in 1 by 1. Meanwhile the guys just waltzed in their line... From the outside the restaurant looked like a homeless shelter turned into a restaurant. Now when they brought out the chips, they may have looked good. However, when I ate one, they were possibly the most hard, chewy, and disgusting chips I have ever had. They later brought out a cheese sauce, which I did not eat. (I did not want to since two of the people at my table vomited into a napkin upon eating it) Once they brought out the tacos they tasted as what I can only describe as terrible but not revolting. The beef is god awful and the chicken tasted strangely like milk. I am now worried this will give me salmonella. As a Californian I must say this meal was a disgrace to Mexican food. This further proves my (correct) theory that Mexican food away from Mexico or the Western US is awful. I do not recommend. Workers were pretty nice though. We stopped here for drinks at the bar on a Sunday afternoon and we found the restaurant to be really charming. The drinks themselves are slightly pricey, but the quality varies. I loved my espresso martini, but my husband's orange crush was all juice. I think what really irked me was that they charged a "brunch gratuity" for us being there for 20 minutes max and not even getting any brunch. I obviously was going to leave a good tip anyway, but charging bar patrons who are getting single drinks brunch gratuity is beyond ridiculous, especially with one of our drinks being very mediocre. read more

The food was amazing! I had the chicken and waffles and bottomless mimosas (pineapple). The mimosas were good but would be really good if they came with pineapple chunks. Something to consider. Pineapple soaks up the champagne really well. The chicken and waffles was good. Presentation could use a little something, maybe a garnish or a sugar to give it some pop on the plate. It looks like literally chicken over waffles but this is the mad hatter? Where is the creativity on the plate? Taste wise, the chicken was good but particularly when you drizzle it with the syrup and take one bite of the chicken and one bit of the waffle. The two do not come balanced on the plate but it gives you some extra waffle to take home unless you think you can finish your plate. I also liked the whipped cream mixed in there. Was great! The dish could be elevated by slightly better presentation and also if the chicken was boneless. Boneless chicken would be really good with the waffle because you'd get more chicken. The restaurant itself is really cute! I'd recommend talking about which characters you identify with from Alice in wonderland for some fun at the table! It's really cute! An old white man that looked like the mad hatter came and rudely (but in a funny way!) welcomed us! It gave mad hatter and I loved that! The prices aren't too bad either! Went to Madhatter for a birthday this weekend for the first time. Alice in Wonderland decor was everywhere throughout the bar. Lots of younger people there. Good music and a huge projector screen. Cool vibes overall. Best part was the Hatter's Punch - the punch is served in a top hat. Lots of opportunities to dance and have a good time. But if you want to sit, they have that too! I liked sitting and drinking the Hatter's Punch, but also getting up occasionally to dance. It was the best of both worlds. The bathroom was interesting. They only had a bouncer for the women's bathroom and not the men's. Feel like they should do that for both bathrooms. Bathrooms were gross, but it is a bar so keep that in mind. Didn't have too high of expectations, but the bouncer situation was...different. Despite the bathroom situation, everything else was cool. Enjoyed the hat of liquor and dance vibes.
