I got the lamb vindaloo and the biriyani special. The vindaloo was nice, flavorful, and spicy. The lamb was tender and moist. It was a bit greasy still even though i asked for less oil. The biriyani was also very flavorful. They have all the meats (chicken, lamb, shrimp, chickpea) in a nice and flavorful rice. It was not too oily or heavy like some biriyani can be. Small place. The chicken tikka masala and mater paneer were much too sweet. The chicken curry was spicier, so we ended up mixing them together. The curry chicken had a great flavor. The lentil soup was very thin and lacked flavor. The garlic and cheese naan was fantastic. Overall the total Was about $54. Rice was included with all of the dishes. Three of us ate and We had a lot left over but due to the sweetness we didn't want to have seconds which was unfortunate. Maybe next time I will try their Biryani. read more

My sister who loves Indian food was in town and we decided to try Madina. We were VERY pleased. We shared a vegetable Samosa and ordered Shrimp Korma, Aloo Gobi, and Lamb Dansak with a side of naan. This place is so good. It reminds me of the Curry Carry Out in England. The service is friendly and efficient. The ambiance is that of an Indian Carry Out Restaurant, nothing exciting but it has a door and a counter, you don't really need anything else. The parking is close and free. The food is really good, especially considering the prices. It's very reasonable especially for the quantity you get, it may seem small at first but food just keeps coming out of the fairly small containers, it defies physics and logic. When you're in the mood for some spice in your life, Indian food is our first choice. As a "pre"birthday dinner, we decided to try Madina. There are a few staples on the menu that we love! He loves butter chicken, always about the sauce, and I LOVE lamb. My other favorite is the saag paneer and of course the yummy naan for dipping. The mild heat is perfect for me, but he can handle the extra heat. With Covid regulations, we ordered a carry out. We couldn't wait to dig in and let me tell ya, WOW!!!!!!! We were very impressed with the food. He gave the butter chicken an 8, we both agreed the lamb curry was a 10, and the saag a solid 9. Finding out that there is an Indian restaurant on this side of town (FINALLY!) was some of the best news I've had in 2020 - and then to find out that this place has goat on the menu? Yeah, I'm there. So I tried the goat curry - it was delicious! The spices were fantastic, and it wasn't too hot (or too weak). Just enough to get my nose running, haha. The meat was good, though it had a lot of bones. This is to be expected with goat, unfortunately. My son had the lamb curry, and if you want a more tender meat with less bones, go with that. The accompanying rice was cooked to perfection. The garlic naan was good, maybe just a little heavy on the garlic, though. And I love garlic. My only complaint is that the dinner portion was kind of small. Their prices are very reasonable, and that's probably why. Personally, I'd rather pay a few bucks more and get a bigger portion (I like leftovers). Even with those small complaints, I'm still giving this place five stars because their food is excellent, and I'm just so freaking happy that I have an Indian restaurant 15 minutes from home. Wanted to try something out of my comfort zone, so I gave this place a shot. Butter chicken was the most popular item so I went with that...... amazing. Two meals you can get out of this. Also their garlic naan dipped in the butter chicken is a hit. Mango Lassi was like a smoothie, very different but I liked it. This place was rated more highly than a lot of area spots, so I was hopeful. The naan here was not very good, and the butter chicken and tikka masala were just fair. Years, we've been waiting for some decent Indian food on the East side. Well, it just arrived!! Tried this place the other night, and am SO impressed!! It's a small takeout joint, but the flavors are huge! Nice and spicy, and made right!! We tried several menu items, and every one was a delight. No longer must we drive 45 minutes for delicious Indian fare. Their mango lassis rule. The korma smooth and flavorful. The veggie curry and aloo gobi were thick, delicious, perfectly textured. they were out of the tantalizing-sounding rashmalai dessert, but I am willing to wait to try it! In my opinion, one of the most important things about food from any restaurant is consistency. If a restaurant is consistently good every time, I'm dedicated to it. Madina has become one of those places for me. Their food is always hot, fresh, and deliciously spiced. Dishes are not overpowering, yet they are full of flavor. I highly recommend the Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Korma, and Saag Paneer. I also love their vegetable samosas, fried rice dishes, and Naan. Madina is not cheap, but it is well worth it if you want a delicious Indian carry-out meal. Also, Madina is one of the only Indian restaurants on the East side of town! Those of us who love Indian food are familiar with old standbys like Ashoka, Priya, Rangoli, and Royal Indian Cuisine on the West side, mostly in Troy. Back in the day, Star of India was always a good choice. Back to Madina... many Eastsiders have been waiting for an Indian restaurant to open, and Madina has successfully filled the void! Finally, the staff at Madina is always courteous, helpful, and professional. The restaurant is clean on the inside, too which is another really important aspect of getting food out. Every time I have dealt with the staff, they have been helpful, kind, and on top of things. Everything is packed and wrapped very carefully so your food is as hot and fresh as it can be when you dig into it upon returning home. I cannot say enough good things about it. This is the best Indian food I have had from a restaurant hands down. We order from them once a week at least and the food is always hot and delicious. Even my Indian born parents were impressed and my mom is a great cook herself. I usually never eat Samoa's but theirs are amazing! Been here twice now , first time ever trying Indian food so I don't have a lot to compare as far as other Indian places. However the recommendations both times have been spot on the butter chicken is my favorite so far. It's very good with the naan . They are very humble and excited to open up and be a part of the community. I LOVE Indian food and I am lucky enough to have it all over the world. My standards are high. With that being said, I have only had one place that I thought was even comparable to Madina in my personal opinion and it's a 45-50 minute drive from me. Madina is Sooo good! If I had any critique and trust me, it doesn't stop me from ordering from them, it's that the chicken curry is a little too sweet, for me. I'm sure everyone else would find it flawless I'm just not a fan of sugar in my curry and the goat meat is some what fatty. The only reason I say anything is these are the ONLY things that stop this place from being close to perfection. However, like I said, I could eat from this restaurant daily and be super happy. Great place! I ordered Chicken 65, and my wife ordered Chicken Bona with Garlic Naan. Both dishes were flavorful, consistent and fresh. Spicy, but not to much. So far the Indian places we've tried in the area will have two or three pieces of chicken that are tough and seemingly low quality. Niether of us had any bad bites of chicken here. The rice is good, nothing special, and the garlic Naan was fresh, warm and delicious, although for us it was lacking just a little bit of garlic flavor. There was a little bit of a wait for the food, however it was 5:30 on a Monday and that was to be expected. They were working hard in the kitchen yet they stepped out a few times to very politely and kindly tell me and the other people waiting that they were working on it and that they were sorry about the wait. This is a carry out only place that seemed to previously be a pizza place. The pictures of their food on the wall was certainly appetizing.
