I spied a really cute Marc Jacobs dress here, but I was pooped from all the shopping and not really in the mood to try anything else. Honestly, I'm too much a fan of a good deal to give Madison more than 3 stars. The store has a casual but edgy look to it and the staff was nice, but I didn't find anything stand out need to have this second. Prices are higher than needed, but given the area I'm not a bit surprised. I know I'm going against the grain by giving this place ONE star. The ONE star that this place deserves is the stock that Madison carries. From the shoes, I saw Dolce Vita to Marni. And clothing wise, they had Vivienne Westwood Anglomania and Derek Lam and Zac Posen. And the wareshouse sale is pretty brilliant. However, the staff could learn to be patient. My mom was prepared to buy a sweater and asked the sales staffer to steam the sweater (to get rid of the wrinkles). The staffer clearly did not want to steam the sweater and asked my mom rudely "what would she (mom) do in the future to get rid of wrinkles?" Later, it turned out that the steamer wasn't in service and when the staffer informed my mom, my mom repeated what the staffer said and yet the staffer snapped, "that's what I just told you." Wow. One would think that in an economy like this, where boutiques are quickly being replaced by department stores, boutiques would step up the customer service. Or at least be polite about it. In short, I don't need this boutique for my designer needs. Fred Segal, which is across the street was much more friendly than this place and there are always Barneys and its hanger sale. read more

This is one of my all time favorite shopping destinations in Los Angeles. Anytime you have Matthew Williamson, Fendi, Chloe, SweetFace, Marc Jacobs and Marni among others in the same space fashionistas leave happy.. They also carry some of the coolest obscure labels that you won't find anywhere else. The friendly staff is huge plus and a rarity in other high end boutiques I know in LA. You go girls!! read more

This store is new to Melrose so my friends and I stopped in. They have beautiful pieces from self portrait, Zimmerman, Valentino and Jill Stuart to name a few. They also have a fantastic sale going on last time I stopped in. Not only do they have beautiful apparel, their shoe and jewelry selection is great also. The few times I've stopped in, their staff has been very friendly. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is because I have not yet purchased anything from here yet. Madison (both the locations on 3rd and on Melrose) are my regular shopping stop. The selection is really beautifully curated. It's basically a combination of the contemporary sections at Neimans, Saks, Nordstrom, and Barneys all in one place. Like a better Intermix! They have amazing new, impossible to find designers as well as a mix of the more popular ones. The shop on Melrose is where they ship all their sale merch - so if you're looking for a deal, that's the location for you. There are some great finds, and they luckily tend to stock a lot of small sizes. Yes, in typical LA fashion the salesgirls are all skinny, young, and beautiful so you would assume they are super bitchy like most comparable boutiques- but they're not at all. They are super helpful, and never pressure you to buy anything. Love this place! read more

I love Madison on Melrose! I've been there only once but I had one of the greatest shopping experiences in LA. I went there right before the winter holidays and they had 60% - 90% sale!!!!! I got Chloe shoes for less than $200 and a Mason dress for $85 (it was originally $330). They have really beautiful clothes, shoes and handbags by cool designers and people who work there are really really nice. I really recommend it - especially during sales :) read more

Madison gets 5 stars mainly because of the incredible selection of merchandise that they offer. I have been shopping at Madison since it was a block away on Robertson. I really love the style of clothing and accessories that this boutique store offers. They have super cool designers that I cannot find anywhere else. The salespeople are great. Yes, they want to make a sale, but they really know how to outfit you to look edgy, trendy and cool. I prefer to buy a few great pieces (especially ones that get the approval of the Madison sales staff) than some mediocre pieces that I wasn't too sure about in the first place. I am grateful that we have Madison so that we can look cool...!!! read more

Did I take too many Vicodin? I hate this place. The Madison across from Fred Segal and the one in Malibu are quite cool stores, but THIS one? It's a miskeit. First of all, the clothes are all jammed in together on uber-messy racks, so it's impossible to find anything. Secondly, the cool, indie-designer, Phillip Lim and Chloe coolness of the other boutiques has been deserted here for Robertson Blvd. trendiness- i.e., lots of sparkly studded stuff and plenty of what my mom would call "tack". They still HAVE cool clothes, it's just impossible to find them, and the staff is obnoxious. If you are not a tourist, and you are not waiting for lunch at the Ivy, get thee to a better shopping strip. read more

This review is for purchasing items from the Madison Los Angeles web site. They don't seem to have an organized process around fulfilling their web orders. In my case, they still hadn't shipped my package as of 2 business days after I placed my order, even though they had provided a Fedex tracking number on the day I submitted my order. Very confusing!! When I called their webstore number to inquire, no one ever picked up even though it was during business hours. So, I had to dig up their West 3rd St. boutique phone number, after which I was put in touch with someone in their web department. The girl I talked to seemed confused about the status of my order - at first, she said confidently and dismissively, "Oh your order already shipped." I was like, "Not according to the Fedex status." After some research, she found out that a shipping label had been created for me on my order date, but no one had actually bothered to send it out yet. It is finally getting shipped out today....AFTER I had to call them to remind them to do it! Guys, if you're running an internet business, you should have a well-oiled process to ship your customer's paid-for item no later than the next business day. It's simply the industry standard. If you can't do that, then tell your web customers, like post a message that says, "Items will ship in 3 business days".....and don't confuse them by providing a tracking number for an item that won't be picked up for days. This was not the most egregious of missteps -- I understand their internet business may not be a top priority. But if you've signed up to be a part of the e-commerce world, you should be organized and professional enough to provide good communication and a timely fulfillment process. read more

Stuff sits on the racks forever, and I hate seeing dresses that are two seasons old and have been marked down everywhere else still be full price (like I saw at Madison today). Five stars purely for my ability to acquire the Stella McCartney wooden wedge pumps that I've been following at a significantly discounted price. The four day 60-90% sale is worth checking out if you've been eyeing something earlier in the season but were not willing to bust out the big bucks. The shoe selection is not that vast but there are a few gems in the crowd, including some Costume National pumps and Chloe boots. The clothing was either already picked over, or just lacking and uninspired. Probably all of the above. A good amount of denim, but I did not bother to look as I don't need more jeans at this time. Staff seemed bored and tired. Wouldn't say they were unfriendly per se. I reached the store around 6, and it closed at 7. Perfect timing I'd say, as there were only three other people shopping. There's nothing more I dislike than large crowds and having to fight for things...not classy. For those interested, the sale ends Sunday! PS. There is a small selection of items for the guys as well, and I'm talking half a rack of shirts and jackets, a stack of denim, and a few shoes. I had such horrible customer service experience. Amazing clothes but disgusting people working their. I came in with me and my friend and the guy working there was just rude. He gave us a mean look , plus didn't want to exchange my shoes. I literally had purchased the shoes a few days ago with the receipt. So while looking for other things to exchange my clothes for...he came up to m and said couldn't exchange because it look worn. I haven't even worn them and brand new in the bag. They have a nice selection of clothes but they don't mention or have a sign to tell you their return policy. With such expensive items it would be nice to know you have 10 days to return and item and that it is strictly for store credit. I think as a customer it's nice to know what you're getting into. When I brought up to the fact that it would be nice to know the return policy the woman said that "for people who it matters to they usually ask." I'm going to use the now 400$ credit that I have to their store and probably not go back afterward. :( read more

Def a trendy store in seeing every celeb you possibly wanna meet and greet. They have several other sister locations: Malibu, Melrose, and one other place, I ferget... But for this specific store... Who knows? With the infamous restaurant, The Ivy that is just a few steps away, you most likely will see celebs like Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Lohan or Nicole Richie. No, I haven't seen them, but I know few ppl who have. Even better, with Cedars Sinai Medical Center, aka the Celebrity Hospital of all Times is just a block away. Trust me though, you will see papparazzis when you least expect it, and sad enough, they close the store, let alone so the celebs can actually shop without having crazy idiots go crazy. In between BH and WeHo(llywood), take the time to check out ROBERTSON BLVD. I swear, this whole street is filled with cute boutiques. Picture this: Rodeo Drive is not only over rated, it's so filled with tourists from every different country, that I swear, you can't even enjoy your time wandering through. This street, you either see the locals or celebs, you choose. Parking is better on Rodeo though, they lowered the 2 hours free to 1 hour free, so keep that in mind. Lisa Kline and Kitson are right there too, and don't forget, and make sure to stop by Chaya for a drink or a quick bite, that's just around the corner, best happy hours in town, great everything! (that is, if you go later in the afternoon) They have great staff, with such up to the latest style clothes and their shoes-oh, I so have such a shoe fetish. Cutest stilettos I've seen, but I swear, is it just me, everytime I see a pair I so want, they don't have my size, but then again, I hear that my feet is the average size of the "all American women." Psh! Go figure! Such cute collection of sunglasses, purses, bikinis, hats, jeans, shorts, tops, omg, where do I stop? Key note: not all madison store carry the same thing...it can be a good thing or a bad thing, but i think it's bad because that means u have to make double trouble trips! Parking : there's one that's few stores down, in this orangey looking parking lot, I forget how much it was (sorry) or you can park at the 2 hour meters on the street, but that is, if you're lucky. I came here during their 60-90% off sale, and boy there were HUGE markdowns. There were, like, 8 shelves of jeans all priced under $80. My super skinny size 24 friend found a pair of J Brand grey skinnies for $16!!!! Ah, so jealous. Unfortunately, there was nothing good left in a 27 :( They also had cute Dolce Vita sandals on sale, but none in my size. That's what sucks about being an average, common shoe size (7). Madison has a variety of boutique clothes, jewelry, shoes, and designer jeans. But it gets one star off because of the horrible service. We didn't even get greeted or acknowledged. As I browsed through the nonsale section, and there was a salesperson standing right there, I smiled at her and didn't get a smile in return. The coupon code didn't work. I emailed them to ask about it. No response. I checked back the next day, the shoe is sold out in my size. Madison used to be more edgy but has gotten decidedly more trendy in the last few years, along with this whole celebrity craze of LA, and sadly, Robertson has deserted its indie feel and traded in for this trashy celeb feel. Madison has changed, and prices, already high, have risen slightly, but there are still decent things to be had. Check out some of the gorgeous shoes. I still come here for the selection of Sonia Rykiel knits, which are hard to find in this city. Don't expect nice help though, snobbery abounds! Stop in for an LA shopping experience in a shop with some style, but don't abandon your own style while browsing the racks! read more

One of the worst on-line shopping experiences I have had (and I do A LOT of on-line shopping). Not only did they delivery me the wrong item, but had no clue how to rectify the situation. They were unresponsive when I emailed, "didn't have" the correct item in stock, and took 2 weeks to refund my money. Madison, Emma Gold, or whatever it's called, this is one of my favorite clothes stores in Los Angeles. So many of the shops that are always in the media are just way too trend-happy: the crinkled boho gypsy skirts of yesteryear, formal shorts, etc. - you know that stuff will look so dated the day after you buy it. Madison has a good balance of the trendy and the classic, and a ton of casual clothing and t-shirts. Watch for their end-of-season sales, where you can get awesome deals on the great shoe selection. I like the Melrose location because it tends to be quieter and there's usually plenty of street parking. read more
