I'm sorry this is long but there are people out there that are looking to SCAM and THIS GUY KNOWS IT. It pisses me off and good customers need to know this. Enjoy Always do your homework when buying a used vehicle and dealing with dishonest salesmen who really don't care what he sells you. Also keep in mind that a Carfax and low mileage don't always mean anything. We looked at a 2010 Ford explorer with 92k miles. Davey was the salesman we worked with. Let's start with issue #1; while the ford was cold we did an engine check and found liquid drops on the bottom radiator hose as well as (issue #2) possible leak coming from a smaller hose. Issue #3 checking the radiator reservoir there was residue of rust that shows that water was used not antifreeze, and indication that it wasn't flushed at one time or another. When we checked the radiator water it was clean for the most part, WATER not antifreeze, unless it's clear antifreeze???? and not the green or orange color either way it did not look healthy for the vehicle. Upon starting the engine sounds pretty good, there was a little shake at first which would be expected on an older vehicle being cold. No knocking or flapping. Issue #4 (not a big deal but shows how well the dealership maintains their vehicles) after we started the test drive tire air pressure light went on, could be from just sitting or the tire sensor gone bad which is common. Then I noticed a vibration on the gas pedal as we picked up speed and I didn't like the way the engine sounded, not as smooth, that would be issue #5. Now here's the kicker. Issue #6 Alignment completely off. When you let go of the steering wheel it pulls to the right. Why is this a kicker for me, Carfax shows that there was a passed safety inspection done by Virginia Inspection Station on 10/21/24, I don't think I would consider this car safe unless they have some code that states otherwise. Wait, I'm not done. After returning we discussed these issues with Davey and started with the alignment concern, you know what he had the nerve to ask? What side of the road were we driving on? meaning which lane were we driving in? Does it matter?. It pulls to the right, we tested it several times. He is LOOKING for stupid customers! or don't know anything about cars! Surprise! We come from a line of mechanics that specialize in Fords. We explained the leaks, he didn't know what we were talking about and asked if I could show him. Took him to the car and guess what? it was worse than when we first checked. After driving the vehicle the pressure made it leak more, so basically if we bought this car we would break down by overheating or blowing something! and we live an hour away. My Son in Law did a Kelly Blue book value on the vin number and came back at between $4000 to $5000, Edmunds came back over $3000. We offered him a low price it was a no of course. I told him if he fixed these issues he could give me a call and we could talk more. His response was since you drove so far he would take $300 off. My Son and I read Davey very well and we confirmed with My Father he is a SCAMMER AT LARGE. If you're gonna look at the dark grey 2010 Ford Explorer see if He fixed the issues that I pointed out. I'll be honest this car did not feel right after driving it. I don't care how low the mileage is. We looked at another 2010 in Warrenton at Car Bargen 98,000 big differences in performance and the salesman appears to be more straightforward and honest but unfortunately the undercarriage had a leak, possibly transmission. I purchased a vehicle from out of state, at Madison Motors in Va., and dealt with Ted Braum. Ted was outstanding and very helpful considering everything involved with an out of state purchase. He went above and beyond especially with patience. The first carrier I hired to transport my car was awful. They were supposed to pick up the car on a Friday, then told me Saturday. I told them Madison Motors closes at 3pm. They assured me they'd make it there on time. No they didn't. Ted went out of his way to wait an extra hour for them, but carrier never made it. I had to advise Ted that I was hiring another company (which I should have hired to begin with) to get the car. My car was picked up by the new carrier as scheduled and was on it's way to me. I got the car today as promised. The car is beautiful as described. Ted at Madison Motors Va. should be commended for his professionalism, patience and good work. Dwight and Luke have been a fantastic team. My father bought from them and so I went to see them about a used van. They were very helpful, attentive, and really listened to hear what I wanted. I came back and Dwight had just the vehicle I wanted. It was super clean and they even put a brand new set of tires on. I tried to talk Dwight into steam cleaning the engine but he convinced me that could do more harm than good. It's nice to have a dealer look out for your best interest instead of just doing what you asked and getting you out of the door. I had less than ideal credit but Dwight was surprisingly able to get bank financing at a good rate for me without me having to go to the bank which is pretty impressive to me. What inspired me to write this review is how much he has helped me by providing me a loaner car when a window broke. He also helped me get my car fixed at a repair shop he trusted after Meineke overcharged me and didn't fix my starter. They say service after the sale but Dwight has lived up to every promise and then some. I have only written 3 reviews for others in my life but I want people to know that Dwight and Luke are the people you can feel comfortable trusting in the used car business.
