Review for Auto Chiefs of Fredericksburg, VA I could not have had a better used car buying experience than what I had with Auto Chiefs in Fredericksburg, VA. I found the car that I wanted which was a 2004 Honda Odyssey in excellent condition, with low mileage at a very reasonable price. When I arrived at the dealership, everyone was extremely friendly and indulged me as I spent some time doing research on the model they had for sale (I had previously wanted a 2005 but the condition and price made the 2004 appealing, so I wanted to make sure that consumer reports and customer reviews were still positive for that year). After deciding that I was interested, they gave me the keys and the afternoon to get the car checked out at the mechanic of my choice. 2-3 hours later, I returned with only a handful of minor finds from the full diagnostic at the Honda Dealership. Auto Chiefs immediately agreed to take care of everything on the list, a much appreciated gesture as I knew the car was meant to be sold 'as is'. We did a little negotiating, not much, and everyone was happy (especially my kids who now had their own captain's chairs J) Then, so that I could take my new car home, they offered to follow me to my house (45 minutes away) in my old car. We scheduled to have the minor repairs done a couple weeks later. I noted a few more small concerns (all which turned out to be nothing) over the weeks leading up to the repairs and without hesitation, Auto Chiefs agreed to fix whatever they could. (Of course, I would have understood if they needed to draw the line and charge me for some of the service not included in our original agreement). They picked up and brought the car back to me right on time, all issues resolved, and my permanent DMV tags in their hands. I just want to take a minute to rate my incredible experience I received @ Auto Chief. This was a very smooth process from beginning to end. The staff is extremely genuine and professional. I walked in around 6:30 they close at 7pm with that being said the wonderful guy Alex took the time to help me find the vehicle that fits my needs with out any pressure.The management team Rich & Raj are awesome they assured me that I will get approved with my credit issues they were very attentive to me. I was scared that I was going to get a piece of junk because I have credit issues and other dealers have gotten over on me before. I was able to speak with the marvelous Mechanic Jeremy he assured me that all cars are looked at thoroughly before it posted on the website. He even offered to look at it again to make me comfortable with my purchase. Hands down best used car dealer in Stafford. I'm not big on buying used vehicles but I had a very specific need and Auto Chiefs came through in a big way. I found Auto Chiefs through CarGurus. I had never heard of them before but found out I drove past their location countless times, as recently as the week before, but never paid attention. There are many used dealers on Rt. 1 between Quantico and Fredericksburg and after a while you just don't notice them. This dealer is one to take notice of. I was looking for a Jeep Liberty to tow behind my motorhome. I looked at one in Woodbridge that the dealer didn't even clean up first. Needed tires, pads and rotors at least. They said they would do whatever needed to be done to pass inspection. The Wife didn't get a warm and fuzzy feeling so I passed. Looked at another one at a dealer in Baltimore. They said it passed MD inspection but I don't know how. Needed more work than the first one to pass VA inspection. They are a "no haggle" price dealer and just blew us off when we brought up that it should have failed inspection and we wanted new tires, pads and rotors or come down on the price. In fact at 6am the next day, we left at 8:30 the night before, the same vehicle, pictures and all, was listed on Autotrader as being at the Dulles location for $1800+ more than it was listed at 10 hours before. I don't like shady games. I found the third Jeep on CarGurus on Wednesday and sent an email. Alex responded in short order and I went to take a look that day. Alex couldn't have been more polite and professional. Everyone was friendly and professional. They didn't give off that used car salesman vibe like I experienced elsewhere which was quite a departure from the stereotype. The test drive went well and I asked if they had any issue with me taking it to my mechanic to check out. I thought they would balk at that but they encouraged it. They even let me take it from Fredericksburg to Alexandria where my son, who is also my mechanic, works. We spent a couple of hours going over it. He had some reservations about the steering, battery and the front and rear differentials but overall it was in decent shape. I took those concerns back to Auto Chiefs and spoke with Rich. He showed me the work history of what they had already done and called in Jeremy, the service manager. They put it on the lift and went over the concerns. Jeremy didn't see what my son was concerned about so I got him on the phone and they talked for about 20 minutes. Jeremy said they were going to do a complete service on the power steering and the differentials right then, and they did, whether or not I purchased the vehicle. He admitted the power steering service should have been done earlier. They also replaced the battery which was new but showing issues. Jeremy also told my son the vehicle comes with a 90 day / 5k mile warranty should anything arise and they'll even work with you after that. They have three service bays and can do just about anything. My son was really impressed talking with Jeremy and said that he didn't have any further reservations and this was a good deal. I worked with Rich on the numbers and we came to an agreement. This was Friday. On Saturday I returned and paid the bill. I didn't have a way to get the vehicle home and was going to wait until I had assistance on Sunday but they offered to deliver the vehicle to my house after hours. That saved me a lot of trouble and Rich and Raj dropped it off on their way home. How many dealers will do that on top of everything else? Auto Chiefs hasn't been around long but if they continue with their current business model I think they'll do great things. They are already A+ rated with the Better Business Bureau. I will definitely use them again if the need arises. read more

Auto Chiefs were very up front about all aspects of the vehicle, and they were very fair in negotiations, both in order to address my concerns and to meet me part way in our dealings. We agreed on pricing and terms for tires and some paint work. We purchased a vehicle from Auto Chiefs of Fredericksburg not long ago. I must say, the staff make a good first impression. However after we made the purchase, the customer service stopped. The very next day after the purchase we noticed that the DVD player did not work and the automatic door did not work. The DVD was not a big deal but having to slam a sliding door to make sure our kids didn't fall out was an obvious concern. The only thing that Auto Chiefs offered was to schedule an appointment for us at another dealership- the maker of the vehicle. The bill however, was to be at our expense. It turns out, the door would cost us over a thousand dollars and wait for it....the dealership said there was a $1000 issue that would be needed by the next two oil changes. The car freshener they used cleverly masked the mildew smell that had resulted from the water leak that is in the rear of the vehicle. Our health has been affected by the mildew. We ripped out the carpet in the very back, keep the windows cracked and now have to save to get another vehicle. Shame on you Auto Chiefs. read more
