What a delightful place. My cousin and I visited Madison Park Kitchen late on a Saturday morning to have a lazy breakfast. So many good options on the menu we couldn't decide. We shared the Celtic Benedict (with corned beef) and the gyros skillet with a side of pancakes. I know what you are thinking - sure it's healthy, but did it taste good? It was delicious. I ate more than I probably should. The coffee was also really good and I am a stickler about coffee. Our server was super nice and kept our coffee full and I really loved the host (and I think the owner?) she made us feel very welcome and encouraged us to return the next day. Which I actually strongly considered. This was a really great experience. A great, in expensive, local restaurant. read more

First time here me and a friend went on a Sunday. It was not crowded we were seated right away. There was alot to choose from on the menu everything pretty much self explanatory. The waitress was polite and attentive. The food came out in a timely manner. The atmosphere was okay. I ordered the bacon skillet and subbed out my pancakes for captin crunch french toast. Interesting combination. The skillet was great the French toast was okay. My friend also enjoyed her food. Overall, I enjoyed the experience. I recommend and I will return. read more

Nice neighborhood restaurant in Forest Park. Being a newbie in the neighborhood. I'm always riding pass this place and seeing people dining outside. I made a mental note to add this on my list of places to visit. My son wanted to come and take me out to breakfast. I decided to come here and see what this place was about. It was a beautiful Sunday morning. The weather was so nice. So, we decided to dine outside and enjoy the weather. We were instantly seated and a nice gentleman came with glasses of water. Maybe within five minutes our server Ms. Diane arrived at our table. It was something about her energy that I liked. She was very sweet and kind. We placed our drink and food order. It didn't take long before we had our food. The food was actually good. Along aside of your order you get the soup of the day. The soup of the day was cream of rice. It was so delicious and creamy. I almost lick the bowl. Everything turned out nice and I look forward to another visit. I will recommend that I be seated in Ms. Diane section. Warm hospitality and service. read more

Fantastic neighborhood breakfast/lunch spot. We prefer the breakfast fare on the menu which is always available. Some favorites include the farmers frittata and the southern skillet. Very generous portions! We always order 2 meals and get 2 leftover meals out of each meal, so 6 meals for about $40 with tax and tip! Coffee is the only thing I dislike here but I will forgive them as it's typical diner coffee. read more

Pulled in because the Ernest Hemingway house was around the corner. Figured breakfast would be good. I ordered the steak and eggs. I asked for medium rare and my steak came out scorched and the inside was still purple. My girlfriend had a skillet which essentially was a bowl of hashbrowns with bell peppers. Not to crazy about the place to be honest but the waitress was an Angel so the service was great. The ambience was like a beehive. A return to MP Kitchen confirmed my suspicions about the nature of their savory fare. It far surpasses the sweet. I ordered the Harvest skillet with poached eggs and a side of toast. The server offered me a variety of bread options, but upon recieving my toast I was disappointed to taste that I had been given white instead of the sourdough I was anticipating. Oh well. The skillet itself was delicious: two poached eggs wobbling atop a gooey blistered mozzarella blanket that hid a plethora of fresh vegetables and well made hashbrowns. The portions were ample and more than enough for leftovers. I also ordered a hot chocolate which was probably just a store bought mix considering the pool of powder that manifested at the bottom of my mug. For 3.25 I would expect something less standard, but it was tasty and warming nonetheless. My mother ordered a Monte Cristo sandwich, which usually comes with ham and turkey, but here you get a choice of one or the other. She was charged extra when she asked for both to be on the sandwich. While I don't hold that against the establishment, I also don't see why they couldn't make one serving of two different meats. The service was speedy but our server seemed to be at the end of a morning shift and tired. That's totally understandable. She was also kind enough to wrap us a fresh soup to go when we asked for a takeaway container for the cup that came with our meal. Overall it was a pleasant and yummy experience. MPK has an awesome menu that's brimming with breakfast choices, none of which can do you wrong. Whether you go savory (the skillets and egg-muffin dishes are amazing) or opt for sweet (cookies 'n' creme pancakes, anyone?), there's nothing here that I've gotten and not enjoyed. Service has typically been diligent and friendly and food comes out in a reasonable amount of time. On my most recent visit here (1/24/16), Jackie S and I had a hankering for hash browns, so we stopped in and were handed a number and asked to wait 10-15 minutes. No sweat, it was a Sunday at 11am and the joint was jumpin'. The place was packed with families, many of whom had small children that numbered into the dozens (dozens, I tell you!) This is where the rogue sausage links come into play. Because table turnover was paramount, not much attention was given to the condition of the dining room. Point in case: a (rather overwhelmed) father and his 3 kids sat at an 8-top next to us, and while the older two young'ins were busy scarfing down their Mickey Mouse pancakes/making a mess, the youngest spent his time picking up breakfast sausages......and javelin-style throwing them across the table. One hit the father (sorry dad), one bounced and landed on the floor, and a third sausage came sailing my way before settling underneath our table. Mind you, we found this most hilarious, but amidst all the Sunday morning commotion, nobody thought to pick them up! Eventually I notified a busboy and they took care of it, but for a good 10 minute window, there was a random sausage link rolling around a high traffic area. Underneath our table was an assortment of scrambled egg pieces, half-eaten bacon, sausage projectile #3, and a general syrupy disaster left over from the table's previous customers. It was like a breakfast fragmentation grenade had gone off. I'd venture a guess that after we left, it still wasn't cleaned up. Hmmph. Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 2.5 Like I said, food was great. Little pricey, but Jackie S's "Desperado" skillet came with chorizo, green pepper, onions, mushrooms, and jalapeno, and was pronounced most excellent. My Tex-Mex egg sammy included fresh avocado, thick-cut bacon, Monterey jack cheese, and came with a side of hash browns, cooked perfectly. I'll happily return in the future, I just hope that by then they'll have all their sausages picked up and accounted for. read more

Mp kitchen is a little gem. I was introduced to Mp kitchen by a friend about two months ago. Over the past two months I've gone there by myself and also introduced several of my friends to this wonderful wonderful food. The menu is not as big as other places you go to but that doesn't mean it doesn't pack a huge flavor and have something for everyone. All of the entrées whether breakfast or lunch are freshly made and come to your table hot and the portions are huge. I always leave with take out containers. It also helps that coffee is great and I have yet to have a bad experience with any service or waiters. And overall great breakfast experience. Love this place. Prices are reasonable as well. They are only open until 4 PM. This is a great place to meet for a quick bite or a nice little family or friend gathering. Update. The desperado skillet is amazing. Spicy chorizo. Hash brown. Eggs. It's been a while since I have been here. I'm glad to know that it is still in the neighborhood and serving delicious food. I had the traditional breakfast of pancakes, scramble eggs, hashbrowns, and a side of ham off the bone. A feast!!! Will definitely be back. Maybe for a late lunch early dinner, the menu looks good. Service was great as well. One minor suggestion please don't allow smoking at your back door as it goes directly inside the restaurant. Other than that, this place is a must!!! read more

Came here on 07/06/19 with a meetup group before visiting a nature center. This place is charming! Based on a previous good experience, we went to MPK with high expectations. When we got our food, we were very disappointed to find that my husband's eggs benedict smelled foul. One of the 2 eggs was perfectly cooked, while the other was unfortunately hard-boiled. That said, our server was pleasant, efficient and attentive. She took his 1 full muffin and acknowledged that it was not right. However, when he got a new muffin, the egg was uncooked and inedible. My burrito (which I ordered last time) was mushy and felt as if there was no egg, and only avocado, cheese, and jalapeños. It looked and tasted nothing like before. Unfortunately, this was not the same experience as our first time, and we will likely not return. read more

I brought my Mom here for breakfast to celebrate her 75th birthday! Our server was so kind, and consistently checked in to see if we needed anything. She even arranged for a surprise birthday pancake/sweet icing yumminess at the end of my Mom's meal! I HIGHLY recommend! If I lived closer I would come here a lot!!!!! Always busy for a reason! Right by lots of nice stores, and the food is always great!! My granddaughter loves their birthday pancakes. The sandwiches are good, and the eggs are always exactly what you ask them to be. Some cons are that it's very hard to find parking, and there's always a (short)wait. This is a nice coffee shop in downtown Forest Park. They feature breakfast and lunch, not open for dinner or on Monday. You get free soup with a sandwich and it's also very good. My only complaint is they say they have free parking in back, but only a couple so chances are there won't be one available. read more

The restaurant is very famous to the locals as the waiting for brunch at the weekend might take up to half an hour or 45 minutes to be seated. Was it worth the wait? Honestly, nearly. The restaurant was known for its oreo pancakes made from oreo crunch, topped with chocolate and vanilla syrup as appeared on Chicago's Best. We found it overly sweet to us. The hashbrown was mouthwatering, and the rib-eye was pretty well-seasoned, well-grilled, tender, and delectable. Hello Foodzies, today we traveled to Forest Park on a recommendation of a buddy of mine Pol. We went to Madison park kitchen at 1525 w Madison Ave. From the moment we entered we were greeted warmly by the owner Tom. Very nice and friendly. Our server Juanita was knowledgeable and very attentive with a pleasant personality. The atmosphere was busy and family oriented. We tried several items. The Playa omelet made with chorizo, onions, green peppers and tomato. Nice blend each ingredient worked perfectly together. Glenda had the Eggurito, a tortilla filled with tomato, onions, jalapeños, Monterrey Jack cheese and she added avocado. The tortilla was grilled nicely the interior was tender and flavorful. I opted for the harvest skillet with hash browns broccoli, onions, green and red peppers, zucchini, tomato and mushrooms topped with 2 over easy eggs. The hash browns were shredded which was a nice touch. Only thing I would do is add cheese and a few more of each ingredient. The flavor was very good. I give this restaurant 4 1/2 stars. My BF and I just moved into the neighborhood so we decided to take a stroll on Madison to see what we'd find and to our surprise, luck was definitely on our side! Right as you walk in you hear the sounds of traditional breakfast restaurant hustle & bustle mixed with a very relaxed and fun environment. Quickly grazing through the crowd I saw a ton of amazingly delicious looking dishes, servers laughing with their guests, and that sweet sweet scent of fresh coffee filled the room. I was totally taken back by some of their menu options because it all looked so so good. Our waitress Moni was the best. With her infectious good vibes she was able to recommend the perfect plate for me, the Chef's combo of 2 eggs any style, bacon, sausage annnnnd 2 slices of Captain Crunch French Toast!!! (If you like sweets...then it's incredible!!) I'll be back to try a new dish real soon! Earlier this morning, I hit a patch of ice on the highway, the car spun, hit another car, and hit a wall. Somehow, we not only survived the crash, but both of the cars involved also survived relatively unscathed. To celebrate our lives and luck, we decided to go out for brunch. It was still snowing like crazy when we parked in a nearby lot, so we were relieved to find an unassuming sign, which was easy to almost miss because it was covered almost completely with snow. Service: We were seated right away and the hostess allowed us to choose where we were going to be seated. Of course, we chose the booth. When in doubt, always go with the booth. Our waitress had a LOT of character, service that could probably be pretty polarizing (for example, when we ordered sweet potato fries to share in addition to our meals, she said, "I'm not going to judge you. Okay, maybe I am"). I loved it, though. She was still really friendly and I felt like we were being served by a friend or something. Our food came out VERY quickly, which was a pleasant surprise. We had to wait a little bit for her to take note we had finished eating, but when she did appear, she had our check already, which was great. Food: So, when we first got there, I had trouble deciding what to order. I'm a decisive person, too. This menu was just filled with a bunch of really appetizing-sounding food. I ended up deciding on the frittata with the pancakes. The pancakes were good, but I've had fluffier in the suburb. This was the first time I had ever had a frittata and I enjoyed it. My girlfriend was really enthused about her crepes because they were filed with an assortment of fresh berries. Our meal ended up being about $28, which was a fine price for a TON of food. Food looks great, place looks great, but it's all an illusion! I'm surprised with all the good reviews. I got a French toast with eggs, bacon, and sausage. The eggs tasted artificial with no flavor. The French toast was eh and the sausage tasted cheap. The only thing I enjoyed was the bacon! Now my friends meal...she didn't even touch it! She agreed, the eggs tasted cheap and they burnt her hash browns. The only thing she ate was her toast! On top of the bad food, our waitress was not friendly at all. I wouldn't trust sending the food back so unfortunately my friend had to waste her meal. The waitress came back to get our plates and took her full plate without asking if she wanted a box!
