My BF and I just moved into the neighborhood so we decided to take a stroll on Madison to see what we'd find and to our surprise, luck was definitely on our side! Right as you walk in you hear the sounds of traditional breakfast restaurant hustle & bustle mixed with a very relaxed and fun environment. Quickly grazing through the crowd I saw a ton of amazingly delicious looking dishes, servers laughing with their guests, and that sweet sweet scent of fresh coffee filled the room. I was totally taken back by some of their menu options because it all looked so so good. Our waitress Moni was the best. With her infectious good vibes she was able to recommend the perfect plate for me, the Chef's combo of 2 eggs any style, bacon, sausage annnnnd 2 slices of Captain Crunch French Toast!!! Food looks great, place looks great, but it's all an illusion! I'm surprised with all the good reviews. I got a French toast with eggs, bacon, and sausage. The eggs tasted artificial with no flavor. The French toast was eh and the sausage tasted cheap. The only thing I enjoyed was the bacon! Now my friends meal...she didn't even touch it! She agreed, the eggs tasted cheap and they burnt her hash browns. The only thing she ate was her toast! On top of the bad food, our waitress was not friendly at all. I wouldn't trust sending the food back so unfortunately my friend had to waste her meal. The waitress came back to get our plates and took her full plate without asking if she wanted a box! Yet *another* FP/OP area gem, and (surprise) another Family owned/operated establishment...residents living in and around Oak Pk Ave to roughly Rt 171 can find some of the best dining in all Chicagland imo. Came here for brekfast and did not disappoint. Nice clean space, open floor plan, airy and bright, just what you look for in brunch/breakfast spot...or at least I do. The menu is typical American Breakfast with most of the usual suspects, Skillets, Omelettes, Frittatas, Benedicts, and so on. They actually have a "Chefs Corner" menu with several generously sized plates, all for $6 and some change, not a bad deal for what you get. I noted they had white country gravy on the menu that came with several dishes....being a huge fan of this elusive comfort food dish done *right*, i asked for some on the side, just so I could get a taste of it. Glad i didn't order it because it was not good and another reminder of how 1. Difficult this seemingly easy dish can be to pull off and 2. Places either totally get Country Gravy right or they totally get it wrong, there are few in betweens and theirs unfortunately was the latter....but take into account very few can get it right. But we're not rating Biscuits and Gravy, so i'll stick to a 4-star and prob be back at some point. read more

I am really starting to love this place. I think I've been here three times so far and each time I go is another delicious adventure. First off, I've had the same waitress the two or three times I've been here and she is phenomenal. I can't even tell you how amazing she is. Real friendly, will sit down next to you to explain different dishes, always has a smile on her face. She's almost the best part of dining in Madison Park Kitchen. She makes the experience so enjoyable. Secondly, their food is pretty great. I've tried 2 different skillets and 1 frittata. Now, I'm not usually one for trying too many new entres off of a menu. Once I find something I like, I usually stick with it. But this place has made me want to keep trying new things. Third, they use Belly. Always a fan of using that nifty little card. Fourth, they're just awesome. I mean, I don't really understand how they got their name. It's on Madison Street. Not Madison Park street. So, that's a little odd. I've met the owners, nice people. Otherwise, really nice breakfast place. Nice replacement of Thyme and Honey, even though I really liked their food as well. read more

We came in here for breakfast and the place was packed, a sign I hoped would mean that the food was flavorful and tasty. Unfortunately I would say we were left with a sense that things could have been...but fell short. The wait was a little longer than expected and parties who came in after us were sat at tables while we waited, looking longingly at the 2 open tables in the corner. Once we were sat, it took about 7-8 minutes before we were noticed and water was placed on the table. Another 5 minutes and our waitress arrived...not to take our order but to tell us she'd be back...this was unfortunately a theme we encountered throughout our meal. The food eventually came and was ok at best, nothing I would write home about or hurry back for. The Oreo pancakes my brother got was less sweet than expected but he barely ate half because the flavor was lacking. I got the breakfast nachos, chips were stale and not flavorful, the chorizo was a nice surprise and had good bite to it. There had to be close to 20 people working in this small place but they all seemed too busy to refill water, check in, etc. Breakfast for 3 was under 25 dollars which is one of the only high points of the meal. I am glad this relatively new cafe is doing so well. Whenever I go there are a ton of people waiting to eat. Don't be intimidated by the large amounts of people; they seat people really fast. The menu has a large variety of breakfast/lunch options for all ages. Every time I go I get the Nutella and strawberry waffle they are AMAZING!!!! I come here just for them. On Sundays, they have a delicious cream of rice soup I strongly recommend. The tea and coffee are also good quality, and people I go with rave about the skillets. The last couple times I went we've had at least one order messed up, but it is understandable since they are usually really busy and they have a really extensive menu. read more

I have visited this place for breakfast many times and it never disappoints. Recently my sister and I visited for lunch and it was just as delicious as their breakfast. I ordered the Nola panini, it comes with your choice of fries, pasta salad or fruit salad. I opted for the fruit salad, which was good but fruit was still a little hard. We tried the avocado toast as a starter and we loved it!!! The times I have visited is usually weekdays mornings so it's not too crowded. It may get crowded on weekends tho. Parking is very limited behind the building but you can find paid parking on the street. Parking not too pricy... 25 cents for one hour. Will definitely be going back to try out those pumpkin pancakes! read more

I had an excellent experience at Madison Park Kitchen! The food was on point, as was the service. I was there with my husband and 11 month old daughter and the employees were so friendly and attentive to my daughter I think everyone stopped by to say "hi" to her and make her smile. Now back to the food...I was borderline hangry so I ordered a million things off the menu. I got strawberry/nutella waffles, a side of bacon, and a fruit and yogurt parfait (that I said was for my daughter but I ate 99% of it myself). The strawberry Nutella waffles were perfect! Light, fluffy, flavorful with just the right amount of toppings. I never have waffles or pancakes without syrup no matter how much "stuff" they put on top--until I went to MPK. Syrup was completely unnecessary. We stopped at MPK on the first morning of our two-morning stay in the area and almost went back the second morning because the food and experience were so good. I have been dying to go to MPK for quite some time now. I was seeing all these great pictures of Oreo pancakes and Captain Crunch French toast. I remember this place when it used to be Time and Honey and now it's so much better than that. Madison Park Kitchen is a family-run business that excels in customer satisfaction. Our sweet waitress Diane greeted us at the door and was very patient with me as I took over ten minutes to decide what I wanted to order. I finally decided on the pancakes since they have been in the press and it's a customer favorite! My friend had the Popeye panini and navy bean soup with a side pasta salad. Everything came out hot and fast. My pancakes were exquisite. These pancakes are more like cake than anything else. They are so sweet and the chocolate that is drizzled on makes it so very decadent. I have to say my favorite part is the way that the vanilla drizzle would ooze out of the middle of the pancakes. The pancakes were so rich that I decided to only half of them, that's not to say that I couldn't finish them all in one sitting though. The waitress told me if I warm it up the next day it will taste just like cake. I'd be surprised if they made it to tomorrow, I'll probably have them for a snack later. My friends seem to like his Panini but didn't really care for the navy bean soup. It sounds like we have to come back on Sunday to try there cream of rice soup. I can't wait to come back and try their Captain Crunch French toast and one day try there Nutella crepes. Everything on the menu sounds so good that I know I'll be back soon. I was visiting a high school friend, who is a chef and lives in Forest Park, and we had breakfast at MPK on the way to O'Hare on Sunday, September 5th. Great food, with Vegan choices too, and friendly and attentive service, as well from our server (Juanita20). Juanita, te agradezco por todo. Unfortunately, after I flew back to Seattle, I realized that I had left my Visa card at MPK and called them on Tuesday to follow up. Juanita had found my card, left it at the front desk, and the manager Margo, mailed it to me the next day. It is safely back in my wallet, with no unauthorized charges to the card and all is well. So, I made my first visit to Madison Park kitchen on Friday after thanksgiving for a post-holiday breakfast with the family and it was truly an enjoyable experience. The portions were BIG and the food was DELICIOUS. I had your basic French Toast & Bacon, but there was nothing basic about the quality of the dish, it was a wonderfully tasty. I love a good local brunch place. Something homey and down to earth is definitely my style. When I want brunch, I don't want fancy; I want delicious and I want a waitress to walk around and fill up my coffee cup whenever I get low. This place satisfied all my needs for a brunch place. I came here on Sunday morning a little after 9am and was seated immediately. My friends and I did a little too much day drinking on Saturday so we needed a hearty breakfast. We all ordered breakfast skillets because they all sounded amazing. I obviously went for the buffalo chicken skillet because 1) buffalo chicken is delicious and 2) not enough brunch places have a buffalo chicken option which is really sad. I'm not a sweet breakfast person, I want savory and buffalo chicken is about as savory as you can get. Ordered with poached eggs and a side of toast. Oh boy, this was delicious. The buffalo sauce was just hot enough to make my taste buds rejoice. The egg was amazing and when the yolk soaked the buffalo and the hash, I was in heaven. My colleague had the rue which he said was very good as well.
