My family and I rented a boat from Young Harris Water Sports over Father's Day weekend in 2025. We…read morehad reserved the boat from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, but we arrived about an hour early. After completing the paperwork, we went down to the dock, and the staff told us the boat was ready. We were able to leave at approximately 1:00 PM. As we pulled away, the young employee at the dock (who appeared to be under 18) said, "We'll see you back at 6 PM." I even commented to my husband that it sounded like we were getting an extra hour with the boat. We enjoyed our afternoon on the lake until around 5:00 PM, when the manager called. I missed the first call but answered the second. Instead of calmly asking about our return time, he immediately spoke to me in a rude and confrontational tone, asking why we hadn't returned the boat and stating it was due back at 5:00 PM. I explained that we had been told to return at 6:00 PM and apologized for the misunderstanding. Rather than acknowledging that there may have been a miscommunication, he insisted that "never happened" and threatened to charge me if we didn't return the boat immediately. As soon as we realized there had been a misunderstanding, we headed straight back to the dock. When we arrived, the manager was standing there with his arms crossed and immediately began accusing us of intentionally keeping the boat out too long. He also mentioned that it was Father's Day and that he was trying to leave work at 5:00 PM. I apologized again and explained that the employee had told us she would see us at 6:00 PM. It was obvious that she had simply overlooked the fact that we left an hour early, so our expected return time should have been adjusted to 5:00 PM. I completely understand that working on Father's Day isn't ideal, and I also understand the importance of returning rental equipment on time. However, this situation was the result of a simple misunderstanding caused by the staff, not by us. There was no reason for the manager to be rude, accusatory, or threatening. A professional conversation would have resolved the issue just as quickly. We've rented from Young Harris Water Sports at least three times in the past and have always enjoyed our experiences, which makes this even more disappointing. Unfortunately, because of the way we were treated, we will not be returning. Customer service matters just as much as the equipment you rent, and this experience fell far short of what we expected.

Great boat, great service before during and after the rental. Rented a boat from another place on…read morea different trip, same lake and they had rusty grocery carts for us to get our coolers and such from car to dock. Young Harris Water Sports had staff that used golf carts to do it all for us on both front and back ends of the trip. We rented a Tritoon and a double innertube for pulling behind. All the equipment worked great, boat was in very good shape. We had a fantastic time on a half day rental. Highly recommend YTWS for your boat rental needs on Lake Chatuge!

I was recommended to this place, but honestly, it's a complete joke. I first met them at the…read moreChattanooga Boat Show, where they were polite and seemed helpful. I brought my boat in to get it de-winterized. On my first visit, a Tuesday, they were friendly and told me to leave the boat in the back, assuring me it would be ready by Friday. A week later, I called on Tuesday to check in and get an update. They hadn't even started on my boat yet. They explained that there were other boats ahead of mine and promised it would be done by that Friday. I called again the following Tuesday, and once again, they hadn't started. The same story--"It'll be done by Friday." I waited another week and called yet again on Tuesday. This time, they told me they hadn't even touched my boat, but now the excuse was that they were short-staffed. I said I'd check in by the end of the week, but they told me not to call; they'd reach out to me. Frustrated, I decided to pick up my boat and take it somewhere else. I called to give them a courtesy heads-up since I live about 45 minutes away. When I arrived, I was told they had just started working on my boat that morning. Funny how that timing worked out. After stalling for three weeks, the day I call to check in, I'm told nothing has been done, and the day I tell them I'm picking it up, suddenly they've started? Then, to top it off, they tried to intimidate me, claiming I was interfering with their work and halting progress. I asked why I wasn't informed on the morning update call or during my courtesy call that they had begun work. The Service Manager said he had no idea they had started. I kept my cool, but honestly, I couldn't help thinking, "No, you're not fooling me, and this business is a joke." To make matters worse, when I went to retrieve my boat, it was partially uncovered while it was pouring rain. I gave them over three weeks to complete what should have been a simple task, and this was the result. Unprofessional doesn't even begin to describe it. Do not take your boat to Water Works!

I take the boat to water workz the next week to change the fuel pump. I should have walked away when they started with "we don't like to tell the mechanic what is wrong we want them to find it" After much discussion I said if it is the fuel pump (I knew it was) replace it. If it is anything else call me. I get a phone call and they said they replaced the fuel pump but now it needs the carburetor rebuilt. I give in and let them do that. Then the next phone call is the block has frozen and busted and needs the motor rebuilt due to water in the oil. The boat is stored inside our basement and has not been outside below freezing. Then their story changes to it has overheated and blown a gasket. Still needs to be rebuilt. I tell them to put it back together and I will pay for what I owe them but to do no more work on the boat. When I pick up the boat it did have water in the oil but........ I changed the oil and had to put a few lines back together that they left apart. I can't prove that they put water in my motor, but I have used the boat a couple of times and had no issues and no water in the oil. I would like to see a news show do an undercover show about them. I can say without a doubt I will never use them for anything, nor would I recommend them to anyone.
