I went to this store for the first time today. Wow! It's huge and has an amazing selection of games, figurines, dice and gaming supplies. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The place was pretty nice. Had trouble finding it but when I did find it, it was well worth the trip. The guys working there were super helpful and friendly. Love this store, I generally buy all my comic trades here since their inventory has such a huge variety. It's also a fun place to come on weekend for pickup games with friends if you want to get out of the house. I'm definitely guilty of spending a Saturday here by the back tables playing board games or drafting a MTG cube without spending anything, but they don't seem to mind. read more

Excellent comic/gaming shop. Always impressed with the selection of stuff that I didn't know I needed until I saw it here. :) It seems like I always end up with a bag of goodies when I go in to just look around. Both the staff and other customers make it a very friendly place. The last time I went in, we asked for recommendations for a 2 player game - 15 minutes later we had a half dozen really good choices. My wife likes the store as much as I do (not as much for the games or comics, but she loves the miscellaneous stuff - i.e. smurf lunch box, Doctor Who Screwdriver pen). Good prices (could be better online for the games, but not bad). Great hours - usually our last stop of the might before driving home. Definitely recommend over the local chain comic book store. read more

The first time I ever entered the store was on a Friday right before Friday Night Magic Standard started. They helped me understand how the tournament worked, helped me pick an event deck, and I have been happily returning as often as I can. The new store is huge, and has space for all times of gamers and comic fans. From tabletop games, to Magic: The Gathering, to any board games or miniature games, the space dedicated is the largest I've ever seen in one store. The staff have always been friendly with me and answered any questions I have had, and have always been willing to point me in the right direction for things I might be looking for. read more

I remember when Madness was a tiny baby comic book store across the street. It's with a sniffle and a tiny tear in my eye that I smile and realize baby's grown up. Lots. Having moved from a small location to a reasonably large location for a comic book store to the frankly enormous husk of a former Pizza Planet, this store isn't just surviving, it's thriving. In a space that could support a modest grocery, it sometimes feels more like a convention than a store. Let's be fair, you're going to be paying retail prices, so if money's a major object to you, then by all means you should be looking at Amazon. On the other hand, they have a titanic wall of comic books, an enormous selection of graphic novels, what may be the largest selection of gaming materials I've seen from a single retailer in dead tree format, and a frankly staggering game selection. They also have tables for miniatures games, tabletop roleplaying, and so much space for Magic: the Gathering. They have regular Magic tournaments, and I toy with getting back into that sometimes. But it's not a major concern for me. For a geek like me, it's a thing of beauty. read more

I visited this store for the first time yesterday and fell in love with it. I am a huge board game and RPG player (and occasionally dabble in comics) and this store was right up my alley. Large and spacious and with dedicated tables for play and reading books it perfectly aligns with the needs of most game players. Must see store! Every time I visit my family in Dallas, I make a point to visit. It's clean, lots of room to play and TONS of variety on all sorts of games, not just magic. They have graphic novels and trades, collectibles, board games, miniature games, card games, etc. If you live in the area, you're lucky. This store is a Geeks Paradise!! It's got just about everything us wondergeeks could want. It's got lots of Games, and lots of Comics..just like in the name!! Hell yea!! But there's lots of other cool stuff too. T-Shirts!! Us geeks have to walk around sporting our geek wear of choice! Like: Batman-check, Superman-check, X-Men-check, Avengers-check, Doctor Who-hell to the f*&k check check check!!!! Ok, sorry..There's action figures(largest Star Wars selection for sale I've seen). Lots of those cool Funko Pop dolls(like at least a 100 of them), boboheads, glasses, mugs...you get the picture. I've not even touched on games. Half the store is games, their accessories and tons of tables to play them at. The people are truly down to earth. So good to each other...you can be rich, poor or just f*&king indifferent and they'll be nice to you. The staff is super helpful...I could spend hours in here. I would spend a whole day here gaming if I had the time. I'm a novice D&D player, so I really should spend a day here working on it. We have game night at work all the time, and a lot of the games we play come from here. Just go down, and clear your head...cause it's gonna blow you away!!!!! read more

I have visited this location on many occasions, and the service deteriorates almost regularly. The card "trade" policy there is ridiculous, seeing as you can only get the actual trade value for cards that are still in standard at the time. The Magic counter has only 1 or 2 workers that aren't completely apathetic and actually act like they give a damn about the customers. They don't buy non-standard cards that are less than about $20, which is absolutely ridiculous, considering how many non-standard cards are out there that most other places would be glad to buy off of you. Also, they recently implemented a policy banning the exchange of money between patrons, as part of a trade or otherwise. One employee in particular has actually broken the store policy about not going to a rival store for buying products or participating in events, but has not even been caught, which is despicable and low, even by Madness's standards. I highly recommend going elsewhere to compete in Friday Night Magic, seeing as they are way too packed and are occupied by overly-competitive players and 12-year-olds who have their parents buy them their decks. If you're looking to either buy product, or sell standard cards, then this is definitely a decent place to visit, but otherwise, stay the hell away from this Walmart of a game shop. P.S they have a tendency to ban people for life for no particular reason, as well as erase negative reviews on a whim, so be lucky if you even manage to catch this review before it's taken down by the cowards in charge of the store. read more

Came into madness today to look for a few singles and maybe learn something about mtg after a long time out of the game. Found a free person at the counter and approached him. Gave him the story above and started to talk to him about what I was looking for. He was talking over me and kinda acted like he didn't care I was in the store. I tried to tell him my previous experience where he became condescending and told me he had been doing it 20 years still talking over me and basically telling me what I was saying was irrelevant ... I told him if he was going to be (rude with more adult words) I would deal with someone else he identified him self as (Chris I believe) the owner and said no you won't and escorted me out of the store while almost running me over. With a store full of people I wouldn't think that is how you would conduct yourself as a business owner but you could tell he is comfortable and does not care about getting more business ... On my way out I said I had heard that this store is not the most friendly where he said "tell me all about it" being condescending... I have to assume this is not the first time he had been told this.. I traveled 45 min over here so it's disappointing that I was greeted in such a poor way. With other stores in the area with a welcoming and open style I don't understand it. read more

I honestly can never see myself driving 35 minutes out of the way to go to the store agin after this experience I just had i've been a customer for about a year now buying stuff constantly and they finally got shipment in and they told me the last two times I came here that they would have everything unloaded in two weeks and I waited two weeks in between coming each time in the boxes are still just sitting on the floor so this time I took it upon myself to just look through it because they obviously aren't getting to it anytime soon because I was gonna buy something in this employee runs over screaming at me not to touch it and it's like do you know how to talk to customers honestly I'm never spending my money here again after that I don't know what kind a lazy worth ethic that store has but it's not worth giving them my money I'd rather just look on eBay for what I want it's overpriced anyways I was just trying to help a small store out but they obviously aren't appreciative nor do they want your business read more

I was introduced to Madness comics today and being that it was my FIRST TIME visiting, I am upset. I rarely ever compose a review on Yelp, but this place commands for one. I was treated like I was a level 90 thief in one of their fantasies. I was followed through out the store and wasn't given any space to shop, talk about a huge aggro radius. The employees created a tense shopping environment because they followed me like I was some treasure goblin about to drop epics loots hiding in my pockets. Love this place. Love the patrons, the staff, the owner. Is it cheap? No. Are you going to find a bargain? Probably not. Will you find what you're looking for? Probably so. Show a brick and mortar gaming store that has low prices and I'll show you an out-of-business sign a year later. As for me, I'm willing to pay full retail instead of Amazon. I support local business and this place gives a lot of intangible support to the gaming community! On top of that, I've visited gaming stores all over the country and the staff here is knowledgeable and friendly. They help when you ask, there's always someone available, and they don't stare at you like a moron or roll their eyes with a sigh if you don't know what you're talking about. Usually personable, socially capable and gaming store employee wouldn't go hand-in-hand, but at Madness it does! Which is almost insane in itself if you think about it. I went here once. The place is huge. It's got comics, all sorts of board games and other memorabilia. I wanted to buy the Illuminati Conspiracy card game. Asked the guy at the counter and he immediately knew where it was. Friendly service, huge selection. Apparently they have some tables set aside specifically for people wanting to play card games like Magic the Gathering. I saw quite a few fedoras in action here, and more than average number of males with ponytails. I'd say that counts towards the authenticity of the store. read more

DO NOT BUY FUNKO POPS FROM THIS STORE WITHOUT CHECKING EVERY SIDE OF THE BOX AND ASKING TO TAKE IT OUT OF THE PROTECTOR! First and last time I will make that mistake! Sadly it happened twice! About a year ago my boyfriend and I frequented this store looking to buy Funko Pops and expand our collection. We loved this store so much! One day we bought a Funko for the price it was worth, $35. A few days later we bought a more rare one for $70. Amazing that we had that opportunity! Sadly, being new to collecting I was too naive to have them take the actual Pops out of the soft protector so I could inspect closer for box damage. I was told they were mint condition and they were sold to me at full price. Well come to find out, a year later, after they have been sitting untouched on a shelf for display in the same Pop protectors they came in, when I took them out to take pictures to sell them (I'm getting out of collecting), they are BOTH damaged! The $35 Pop has a crease on the top of the box and a dented corner. And the $70 one has a bunch of marks where the paper tore off the bottom. They haven't been taken out of the protector once. Luckily the damage doesn't completely devalue the Pops but they sure aren't gonna be sold full price! I'm baffled that this store is so worried about profit (as if it doesn't get enough!) that it would sell DAMAGED GOODS to regular spending customers at FULL PRICE. These employees would have bought these Pops from another store or person, inspected them closely themselves and probably bought them for 25% of the price they're worth. And then they turn around and sell it to unsuspecting, trusting customers for full price as if they're in mint condition! I'm pissed off to say the least. How can you know a collectible has damage and sell it for full price anyway? How ratty. Please check your Funkos and don't be afraid to have them take the protectors off before you buy! I wish I would have known. Hopefully this saves someone headache and heartache too. read more

DO NOT GO If YOU HAVE A CHILD!! The man who is at the counter with the piercings is very rude and tried to accuse me of getting 11 Spiderman comics out of order. I totally understand the need to have customers respect the merchandise. When I kindly told him I did not get those out of order he argued with me!! Arguing with a customer!? Really? Such BAD business. I have a very well behaved 3 year old and like to buy him several comics every weekend because he likes to cut them up and make stories. I have purchased several items from this store and have never seen this man friendly or overly helpful. Lone Star down the street, Keith's or Titan are much better places to take your family. Since my last review, not much has changed. They swapped a few staff members for a few new ones and are planning to move to a much larger space but other than that, the terrible attitude amongst the staff still remains. I'm starting to suspect that it's not a problem of one or two errant employees, but rather a systematic problem that stems from the attitude of the store's ownership. Even with their selection and availability of products, it's not worth shopping here. I've found myself driving to stores in Grapevine to pick up stuff rather than go here. Their poor treatment of customers and higher-than-average pricing is too significant to ignore. read more

It's an okay place by DFW standards, when it comes to local comic/game/hobby shops. Since I went here for comics more so than games, but if you're looking mainly for a comic shop, the place is definitely geared more towards games than comics. The employees are very nice and helpful, but one thing I really did get tired of was having to keep telling them every week to stop putting variant covers in my pull box; that kind of defeats the purpose of even having a pull box. Back issues (one of the most fun parts of going to a comic shop) are also terribly lacking here, but they do have a good selection of comic supplies and a great large selection of TPBs, though, which is are pluses. Like I said, I'm reviewing as a comic collector, but I'm sure board gamers like Madness much more, since it's geared a lot more towards board games than comics (4/5 of the store is board games and only 1/5 of the store is comics). read more

No refunds, no exchanges, and if you're looking for something specific, make sure you have time to search for yourself because they're not gonna help you find it. Huge selection of new comics and graphic novels. Has Marvel, DC, and tons of space for other publishers. Rarely out of stock and usually sell at MSRP so they compete with online retailers. Plenty of collectibles too. Best part is that the staff is helpful and smart. I have asked for four recommendations and all four times they have been great. read more
