Simply the perfect lunch spot. I know they recently shifted ownership hands, and it's still amazing. Hours are very limited hours, but the food is worth stopping by for. I got to try the chicken shawarma platter with rice and falafel and toum as well as the namoura. The chicken shawarma was phenomenal. Perfectly cooked, perfect seasoning, juicy chicken. Very good, and great portion size. The rice itself was simple and fluffy, just perfect. I loved the white sauce; super garlicky and went amazingly with the chicken. And the falafel too...very good, very crispy. Loved it. The namoura was great as well. Absolutely huge for the price, very tasty too. People who live and work here know, and they always draw a crowd, though if there is a line they will move you through very efficiently. The owners are always here, always seem to love what they do and appreciate your business. They offer wraps and entrées, the entrées are a great value with a good portion of your main item, like falafel or chicken, and two side items. My go-to is the falafel entree with five big pieces of falafel, and sides of green beans and tabbouleh. Your meal comes with pita and you can add a side cup of hummus for one dollar. Your whole lunch will come to a total of $12 or so and you will be full for two meals. There is seating, it is not expansive but it is enough, and a downstairs area with more. Madonnas is delicious and I was so happy I found this lunch place while visiting Pittsburgh. The chicken shawarma is shaved from the rotisserie right there in front of you, and covered with the best garlic sauce (toum is the name of it I believe), and I paired it with baba ghanoush and rice. Definitely get the rice with the shawarma, and you'll probably appreciate an extra side of garlic sauce if you're as crazy about it as I am. The baba ghanoush was perfect too - smoky and creamy. The workers are so sweet here. I think it was a husband and wife, probably the owners, who served me. I chose hummus, falafels, a spicy bean dish, a black pea and green veggie dish, and some spicy green beans (sorry, I don't remember the names of the latter 3). Came with a sandwich bag of pita bread (3/4 of a whole pita). Veggie platter is $9.99. What's Hot - Quality of food. I love that some of the dishes are spicy! Their food is lightly spicy- just a slight kick and not overpowering. The hummus was nicely flavored and not overpowering. It tasted like the other veggie dishes were freshly made, as well. Well seasoned and not too salty. - Menu variety. They have meat and veggies, which is awesome. Everything looks freshly made. I saw their shwarma meat roasting when I came and my friend said the meat is made fresh everyday. I saw tabouli, hummus, grape leaves, and a variety of other veggie and meat dishes. There appears to be something for everyone, which is definitely helpful. - It looks like they give you pita bread regardless of what you order, which is nice. I didn't ask if it automatically comes with your meal, but we didn't get charged for it. - Service. My friend has been coming here for years and he says it's family run. Leaves you full not stuffed. - Whatever you order is automatically put in a styrofoam takeaway container, regardless of whether you dine in or take away. Therefore, if you aren't able to finish your food, you can automatically take it with you. What's Not - Don't recommend coming with a group of more than 4 people. Their tables don't accommodate more than 4 people, which means you're pushing together tables if you have more in your group. - Quality of food. They are very friendly 100% of the time. All of the food that I've had is very fresh. I went in once after the lunch crowd and asked for Fattoush. They were out for the day but offered to make some just for me. I declined and tried Tabbouleh instead. I generally order the Chicken Shawarma with Fattoush and either Loubeih or Falafel. Was a huge fan of Madonnas and I still miss my Conquistador salads but finally got around to coming down to the new place. Love it! If its your first time Mario will walk you through what's what and the descriptions on the menu and labels make it easy if you're not familiar with the cousine. I admittedly wasn't, my only exposure to schwarma was the end of the Avengers movie. Have been three times now. Have gotten the kofta entree, the mix of two meats entree with shish kabobs and schwarma, and the schwarma entree by itself . It's all delicious. After reading the reviews on here for Madonna's, I decided I was going to give this place a try today. I've walk into this place a number of times and then walked out simply because I had no idea what any of the stuff behind the cafeteria style line was. But today I decided it was time to step outside my norm and throw my culinary caution to the wind. I'm glad I did. Like James R. pointed out in his "tip", I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The lady on the serving line explained what each item was and told me that the lunch special consisted of "one meat and two sides". I went with the kaftans for my meat choice (sort of a lamb and beef mini meatloaf) and for my two side dishes I choose the loubieh (green beans and onion in an oil, garlic, and herb dressing) and sleek (a collard greens and chick pea's dish). It also came with a zip-lock baggy containing a couple of pita slices. Everything was delicious and I'm sure I'll be back again to try some of their other offerings. Madonna's isn't exactly a plush or cozy place. The seating is more like what you would find in a fast food restaurant. But the service is quick and the food is good.
