Location- great, enough parking. It's located in a strip mall and the renovations are super cool. However, the food and service were less than subpar, especially for the pricing. I had order the malai kofta and the taste was unfortunately not spicy or good at all. It seemed to be missing the north Indian spices. The waitresses all seem to have AirPods in, and it took us swagging them down for other things, such as napkins, more water, and simple things like plates. This was a very disappointing place and we probably won't be going back.

One of the best South Indian vegetarian restaurants in the DMV area. Every thing in their menu is from various regions of south India. I went there for lunch buffet on the weekend. It almost closing time, but the staff was nice to try it out. They kept their buffet open for slightly longer so I didn't have to rush. Dosa with three different types of chutneys were my favorites. They have a live dosa counter so you can order as many as you want. Vegetable biryani was delicious. Nothing here is spicy. Unlike the chettinad style cuisine, the spice levels are pretty good. Ambiance was just like any other restaurant. Nothing too fancy. Very casual place and nice staff. Highly recommend it if you want to try nice South Indian vegetarian buffet.

My favorite vegetarian place in the DMV area! They recently painted their walls with beautiful murals of Indian film star portraits! Absolutely stunning! Of course the food is outstanding too!

Dropped by for dinner - an average experience at best, and probably would not repeat. Service quality was fine, but the booths and tables are oddly undersized in width for the plates used. The Gobi Manchurian was poor - too little sauce and way too doughy. Idlis were subpar. Mysore Masala Dosa and accompanying chutneys were fine, as was the filter coffee. We ordered Kesari for dessert, which had so little sugar that it definitely tasted like a savory dish (opposite of the usual issue with kesari). While nothing was inedibly bad, the experience was unsatisfying overall.

This Indian restaurant was just above average for me. Nothing amazing but not terrible too. Tried 3 items from their menu- Paneer Butter Masala and Paratha-Good flavors and flaky paratha(just like it should be) Special Rava Masala Dosa- Dosa was good but the potato filling was excessive in quantity and tasted bland too. Vegetable Thali Combo Platter-Most savory items were bland and the basic seasoning was missing. Dessert was good. I would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking for something authentic as items from their menu could be a hit or a miss.

This is one of the few Indian restaurants that really does it right. Their food is pretty close to authentic and has spice. Their buffets are also pretty great (especially Mother's Day and Father's Day). Their mango lassi is delicious. Sweet, creamy, and so much mango flavor. $5 The garlic naan is also delicious, and one order comes with 4 pretty big pieces! The bread is just crispy enough while still being soft and malleable. The garlic flavor is very mild, and it is garnished with coriander. $5 The paneer butter masala is excellent. Super creamy, tons of paneer, and served in a nice vessel along with a mound of rice. The paneer is extremely soft and cooked perfectly. $16 The channa batura is massive. This alone could easily feed two people. It is fried well and served with a mildly spiced channa curry. $16

First timer . I hardly give 5 reviews... but this place deserved it . We went 30 mins before closing and thought the chef will make everything hurry-burry , but it tasted awesome. It was empty and had a lot of seats to sit, with social distancing. Everyone inside wore masks and looked safe. Ordered samosa chat .. it was good but it filled 25% of our stomach. Kids ordered naan and paneer butter masala. And it was good. We also ordered gobi manchurian and fried rice. Being a South Indian restaurant, we took a chance ordering North Indian food and Chinese .. it was just a luck that both tasted good. Fried rice was awesome . After a long time , felt like eating a Chennai road side fried rice . Gobi Manchu was out of the world. The 5 rating was mainly because of gobi. It's been a while since we ate this taste on a manchurian. Hats off to the chef. Wish they had BYOB. Would have been 100% best :) lots of parking available and we had a great visit . Thumbs up ..

    Onion Masala Dosa

An amazing lunch spot! Serving up all-vegetarian food, Madras Palace has authentic, delicious, homey -feeling South Indian delicacies. On a Monday lunch I got the Onion Masala Dosa - crispy and soft in all the right ways, the masala was flavorful and the dosa was served with two tangy chutneys and sambar. I tried a friend's Vada Curry dosa and was honestly blown away - it was my first time trying this unique specialty and the flavor was unlike any South Indian dish I had tried thus far! Would probably get this next time. Service was fast, ambiance was standard, and it seemed like the lunch buffet (which includes dosa brought to you directly) was a great deal. Would definitely bring my family here!

I ordered a Thali through doordash and all the dishes tasted horrible. I love Indian food and I've tried many restaurants, but I've never experienced food that actually tasted bad. Even the rice pudding had a weird texture; the rice was so overcooked that it had no texture and an unappealing flavor

Great food, specially the Sambhar and chutneys were so good along with all their dishes. We had Medu Vadas, Tomato Soup, Corn Masala Dosa and Paneer Utthappam. All dishes were very upto the mark. The owner came and checked in to get our feedback with was a very nice gesture. Definitely check this place out. Service was great and I appreciate it very much.

Japanese Katsu Curry Bowl ($15.00) plus $1.00 for greens and $0.50 for extra curry sauce. My partner enjoyed this dish, but thought the curry flavor could have been stronger. Also, they probably wouldn't get the extra sauce again. Overall, good bowls. We'll be back. One disappointment is that there is no way to "build your own bowl." I asked the server, and she said you can ask to substitute an item on one of their main bowls, but there's no "create your own" option. Since you order from a kiosk, it seems that could be straightforward, with the price adjusted based on what you add in, but I guess not here. That will limit the number of times I come here, because I prefer the option for variety. Ordering vis kiosk also doesn't allow you to order the sauce "on the side," which is another unnecessary (IMHO) limitation.

There is 2 floors of seating in what looks like a seemingly small location. While I was there, I saw them quickly accommodate 2 huge buses of tourist with burger dinners and drinks quickly while also still serving regular patrons. As for food, I can say that everything my party ordered was a hit: chicken tenders and fries for kids, cheeseburger, salmon dinner, and pizza! Updated Review (previously 5 stars) due to poor management response:…read more Management has changed since my last visit, and boy, this place is not what it used to be, and that makes me sad. About four years ago, I happily gave this restaurant 5 stars and recommended it to others. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was the complete opposite. During my meal, I discovered ANTS actively crawling around my food. (See video) It was disturbing to watch them around the sauce next to my meal, and I immediately stopped eating because I no longer felt comfortable consuming the rest of it. What disappointed me even more was how management handled the situation afterward. It was extremely difficult to get in touch with the manager despite multiple attempts. When I finally spoke with him, he refused to provide a refund because more than 30 days had passed since my visit. Given the nature of the complaint and the difficulty I had reaching management, I found that response completely unreasonable. I also raised concerns about being asked questions during my visit that made me feel racially stereotyped. Those concerns were never acknowledged or addressed by management, which only added to my disappointment. Because I believed this was a legitimate food safety issue, I filed a complaint with the Fairfax County Health Department. After investigating, the inspector informed me that they visited the restaurant, discussed my concerns with the manager, and that the manager confirmed my reported ant sightings. The Health Department also required additional pest control measures. Beyond the service issues, I also noticed a significant decline in the food. The wonton soup was bland and lacked the rich flavor I remembered, and the General Tso's Surprise tasted off and was missing the depth and spice that used to make it one of my favorite dishes. This restaurant used to be one of my favorite vegetarian spots, which is why writing this review is so disappointing. Based on my recent experience, the difficulty in getting in touch with management, and their total lack of customer service or care for loyal customers, I can't recommend dining here. They do not care about their customers based on how I was treated.

Back then the food quantity and the service were top notch-great service with a smile and good quantity portion size. Since then, everything has gone downhill and this place is hit or miss depending on who makes your food, not to mention that anything worth having or anything that is not a cheap item has been removed from the menu (ex: hearts of palm, and now even the popular jackfruit tacos!) Only the cheapest ingredients left behind such as beans, chickpeas, onions, cilantro so they can major profit more and more. The menu has become boring to everyone I know with no exciting new items but just the same old and taking away certain items that the customers love. (Other Moms locations I go to switch up their menus with yummy offerings that Ive never seen offered at this location) Their prices have also gone up quite a couple of times since before covid and on top of that their portion sizes have lessened by more than 50% and still they get stingy only at this location when scooping the scoops always shaking the spoon to lessen the portion of each scoop and still finding sneaky ways to raise the prices more or take away anything that might cost more. Ive also noticed they only hire Hispanics now which I don't care but they definitely do not give service with a smile and half the time they don't understand what you are asking for and get rude if you sub or ask for something that might require a change. I am Spanish so of course I understand the language and alot of times they talk bad or whisper to each other right in front of me when you are undecided or make changes to the menu items. In my opinion, a different manager is needed that values customer service as the current manager is rude and does not like when you ask for substitutions and very stingy as well with portion sizes. Back in the day if i wanted half a scoop of one topping and half of another on my tacos it was ok, not anymore. A lot of people who don't come here often rate good as a good lunch spot but when you come here consistency, you start to see the flaws and lack of service,

It's a little pricey in my book, but I suppose not overly so compared to many restaurants in the area. My go-to is the Paneer Makhani. Other favorites in the family are the Vegetable Samosa, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Makhani, and Malai Kofta Curry. We also usually order some Garlic Naan as well. The only real catch in my personal experience is the parking situation. It is not located adjacent to any of the surface parking lots in Kentlands, so you will be walking a little bit from somewhere. I don't enjoy walking or driving in Kentlands because people seem to lose their minds driving in there for some reason, so you have to be on the look-out all the time. There is technically street parking right next to the restaurant, but it's hyper competitive, I wish there was a spot or two saved for curbside/pick-ups. I went to pick-up dinner a little after 7 yesterday (a Thursday night) and circled so many times, that it ended up being faster to park over by the Michaels and make the cold walk over. At one point a car was parked diagonally the wrong way in one of the spots, as in they swooped in to take it from the wrong side of the road. So you can imagine how much those spots are left purely up to chance. TLDR/ tasty food; good for carry-out if you are prepared to walk a little or can bring someone to hop out and grab the food.
