    SPICY TUNA ROLL DRAGON ROLL

Planta in Bethesda had some really creative sushi options, which were definitely the highlight of the meal. They were fresh, presentation was good and enjoyable. While the main dishes were a bit milder in flavor than I was expecting, the overall experience was still great.

I am not vegetarian or vegan at all. That being said, I enjoyed my visit to PLANTA. I ordered their carbonara and it was delicious and satisfying. I am so glad my 5-year-old picky-eater found something she likes....avocado roll! I would like to visit again to try some other menu next time :)

Initial note: We ordered off the Savor Bethesda menu, but all the items are on the regular menu too. 4.5 stars Really loved our belated valentines dinner at Planta. Neither of us are vegan or vegetarian, but we had a lot of fun. The food was awesome. Planta is very easy to get to too (see note about parking down at the end). Just a note that the online and in person "savor bethesda" menu has the wrong cheesecake listed for desert. It's a berry one, not Key Lime. Hits: honestly everything. The Dragon Roll App is really tasty and we were very impressed by the vegan-ness of the sushi. The Summer rolls, which we added on our own, were really fresh and tasty. The tater tots were so wonderfully, lightly crispy and I loved the kimchi and the other accoutrements . Our mains: the vodka pizza and Carbonara were also amazing. I'm a bit of a carbonara snob and I was really impressed by the creaminess and flavors of the dish. We also really liked our mocktails and the berry cheesecake desert. But: While the Chocolate Brownie desert was simply really nice. We definitely plan or coming back/ ordering again via delivery etc. Note: There's plenty of parking nearby, a garage on Elm street and even the Bethesda Row garage right down the street too.

I tried a bite of Chili crab noodles and they were REALLY good! I had another dish at a separate PLANTA that I also liked, but this dish lowkey might be better. The udon noodles were ok. They were very coconutty and creamy but the taste was not something I'd really like to eat a lot of. So not a fan.

When we arrived for our reservation, we were seated almost immediately. After we were seated, the dining area got crowded. The ambiance was aesthetically pleasing. Our waitress was cordial and friendl, she took our beverage orders. We ordered some blueberry mocktails and water. We ordered the spaghettini carbonara, chick'n fried mushrooms, cauliflower wings, and korean chick'n sandwich with fries. Everything exceeded my expectations. The food was flavorful and good quality. It was such a great experience that I am looking forward to visiting again.

I love sushi, and was dining with a vegan. Planta was the middle ground. Granted I was apprehensive about the menu because I love seafood, I decided to try something different. The menu was interesting. I had watermelon sushi! The texture was not to my liking, but they really did make it look like the real deal. I also had the chick'n and waffles. That was delicious. The drinks were good. It was almost a five star experience, but I left feeling somewhat unfulfilled. I think I was missing animal protein, and it was no fault of the restaurant. The restaurant is light and airy. I like the nearby parking garage for convenience. Service was great. The bar area was beautiful and I can see myself stopping by for drinks when in the area.

Came here this past weekend with my cousin who is vegan and we both love this place! The food is so fresh and good and the drinks are BOMB as well. The ambiance makes you feel like you're in a jungle with all kinds of healthy food. If you are a huge sushi fan, you will definitely love theirs. And even if you aren't a huge fan of sushi, I would still try theirs! The "Dragon Roll" is my favorite and if you're a novice, try that one first. You will not be disappointed

Planta Bethesda really impressed me. We came for happy hour and everything was delicious -- I had a cocktail, two rolls, and a couple of small plates and left completely full. With tip, it worked out to about $27 a person, which felt like a great value for the quality and portions. The space is modern and inviting with both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside and loved the relaxed vibe, then walked around the neighborhood afterward -- lots of great little shops and a fun area to explore. My first visit to Bethesda, but definitely not my last!

Best French Toast of 2026 and the year just got started! Had a Sunday Funday equipped with a lovely macchiato, beautifully adorned French toast, and fried mushrooms. A friend of ours delighted us later with Espresso Martinis made with Mezcal for a little twist. Our server was polite, attentive, and fun! The brunch ambiance got revved up after 1pm, so make sure to have reservations!

This place just never disappoints. The service is wonderful and the food is always so flavorful. It's food that I can't replicate at home, so so love coming here. We came here for happy hour and tried a bunch of dishes. My favorite was the eggplant unagi, crispy rice, and the bao bun. We also got the fried cauliflower and the chick'n fingers. They were both good as well. For dinner I got the spaghetti carbonara. There is soenthing about the texture of the dish that is addictive to me. I love the almond sauce and the mushroom bacon. My friend for the udon dish and it was very mushroom heavy. I thought it was good but wouldn't be ny go to. She loved it.

Our server Steven was exceptional. He was very attentive even while training new staff. We celebrated a birthday and Steven was quite entertaining making the night even that more enjoyable. Special thanks to Steven for providing top tier service. I will say the volcano rolls was a bit on the bland side as I have ordered them before and the taste was completely different this time. I recommend revisiting consistency with the recipe.

Not gonna lie I was skeptical of vegan food but Planta was very good. Would give it 4.5 stars if I could. The spicy rigatoni could have passed for non-vegan, it was so creamy. The more I ate the bang bang broccoli, the more I thought I was eating fried chicken. The firecracker roll was alright, but nonetheless excitingly vegan Parking in a garage right around the block corner is a great plus.

Raku is an Asian fusion restaurant and have some verity of Asians menus that's nice things about here. Their popular coconuts curry noodles soup is from Thai or Vietnamese coconuts curry, and not as spicy as authentic Thai or Vietnamese ones so It's easy to eat. You can choose from 3 type of noodles and different soup - curry or simple broth. It's probably better choice here than their sushi for my preference. If we just want Sushi in near Bethesda area, Sushiko in Chavy Chase is good. When we crave for Authentic sushi we just go to authentic Japanese restaurants ( some Michelin stars "Sushi Taro" in DC ) that is truly authentic quality. I also go to other one for sushi ( "Love Sushi Makoto" in DC ) I know that's not even comparable category as those restaurants offers authentic real foods by Japanese owner and chef, and ingredients are real from Japan. I know It's not fair to compare to Asian fusion restaurant like Raku or typical local sushi places that other Asian or American own the place. Raku is very reasonably priced as it should be for actual ingredients. Price stays reasonable that makes this place a popular spot too. I have to be honest their miso soup tastes no real authentic favor to me. But Raku is definitely better choice of quality foods overall compare to other Asian restaurants in Bethesda. Sushi chefs and waitresses are asian and none of them are Japanese and that is ok as most of Sushi chefs and Sushi restaurants in USA the workers are not Japanese anyways. It is actually hard to find Sushi restaurants that owned by Japanese with real Japanese chefs and waitresses and staff in USA. They sometimes says welcome "irasshai" in some Japanese greeting ( that's only used in restaurant setting ) with their wrong accent that is cute to me:) Bethesda is a cute little town and Bethesda row is just like a corner cute village with surrounded by basic restaurants and cafes, normal shops, nothing luxury really, but safer and quiet, clean little town. Neighbors enjoy to go out to restaurants including this Raku as easy to access from near suburbs housing area, so my friends does and walking distance from their houses. This restaurant set small tables very close to next seat and there's very small bar that space is limited, that's as why it's always filled up and crowded. It's uncomfortable and no privacy, I wish they make space between next seats. Except winter, they offer outside seats and dog friendly that's a bonus for dog lovers.

Off Uni which I saved for the last taste, first pieces stunk of ammonia, replacements were just bitter and off as well. These were suppose to be chef choice and he chose to serve off uni which could have easily been deteced with a sniff test. The salmon roe was also soft, runny, tasteless and off color. The remainder of the shashimi was OK but lacked the freshness one would expect for the price. Also the platter was so cluttered I could not identify what was what. Labels would be helpful. First time visit, first impressions are importent. Not the best experience I am giving an 1 star rating to draw attention for their managment and maybe fair warning to customers. I visited Raku on Thursday April 30 @7:30, Restaurant was about 3/4 full. A bit tight seasting as other's had described. Elbow to elbow almost. Typically noisy as resturantes are these days. 1. When we walked in, the receptionist / greeter had no uniform or ID badge so a bit confusing and no reception desk. Not the most welcoming hospitality. 2. Wait staff sort of dissappeared mid service or was just unattentive, they were right around the corner at the wait station. I dropped a chopstick on the floor and needed a repacement. I could not get eye contact so I had to get up and request a replacement after a few minutes. The two of us order the TOKU JO SASHIMI - (38) Chef's Choice ~ White or Multigrain Rice - $110. 3. The shashim was served an a single platter which was a bit crowded and lacked the artistry or elegance a $110 platter of shashimi shoud be presented. Many of the pieces were cut too large and chunky. I appreciate the generosity of the protions but they could / should have been sliced in half. Most of the fish tasted OK but lacked the brightness you expect from fresh cut shashimi. Maybe these platters are pre-prepared and storred in the cooler until needed. The rice served in bowls with the platter was extreemly bland to me. No flavor at all and a bit over cooked. 4. We ordeed the corn meal coated calamari as appetizer. This was adequate but lacked seasoniong and included a some what bland ambigious dipping sauce. Maybe garlic aioli. This was compped in compensation for the off uni in the sushi platter. Probabaly not going back regardless as I am not local.

Out front there's something that looks like a tuk-tuk or rickshaw. Tbh, don't know if it's theirs or the business next door. The restaurant itself is clean and elegant. Also, not as loud as some Korean BBQs (thinking of KPOT off of Randolph Rd), which is important if you don't like being overwhelmed by everyone else's noise. That is one big '+' in Kanpai's favor. The waiter was cool and very helpful. Because of him I now know what the thin meat slices are meant for (which is for the soup), before then I had no clue. The food itself is good. Like, why wouldn't it be? I actually prefer the shabu-shabu (soup), makes me wish I knew how to do that myself so I wouldn't have to go out as much. Yes, the grill meats were great, as was the kimchi. These places are not cheap, but it was enjoyable while I was there. But don't warm your seats for more than 90 minutes, as Korean BBQs tend to kick people out (nicely, nicely) if one overstays. P.S.
