We had such a great experience touring this apartment building! The property manager was truly the standout--extremely responsive, communicative, helpful, and professional throughout the entire process. It's honestly refreshing to come across someone who is so attentive and genuinely cares about making the experience easy for prospective residents. The building itself also had a very clean, well-maintained overall look, and the location is amazing--just blocks from the ocean! Unfortunately, it ended up being outside of our price range and a little farther than we wanted to go, so we decided not to move forward. However, if you're looking for a place near the beach and want a property manager who is actually responsive and communicative, I would definitely recommend checking this building out. The Madrid is a fabulous place to live! Vanessa the manager was so helpful from our first viewing through move out. My family was sad to leave this little building - apartment was well maintained with new appliances when we moved in, maintenance requests were always handled in a timely manner, it's quiet and the neighbors are friendly. My kids did well here, the neighbor's pets are friendly and quiet, and it's a 15 min walk down to the esplanade. read more

The on site manager is so professional and fast when it comes to needing repairs. Nothing ever takes too long and there is always someone around cleaning, taking care of the property, and making repairs when necessary. This complex just added rails outside to help the people who have a harder time walking up the steps and they even took the time to add in a newer/faster elevator. This complex is nothing but short of amazing. It's a calm, quiet, welcoming community within the Madrid and the outdoor patio furniture is always well kept and the court yards are so beautiful as well. If you have been looking for a rental in Redondo Beach, I'm sure you've experienced that when you called to inquire about the apartment, nobody picks up, and you're lucky if anyone even calls or texts you back ..... and you can definitely forget about seeing the apartment the same day, you're lucky if someone does you the favor and gives you a showing a week later. Madrid Apartments is super blessed and lucky to have Vanessa managing their building. I called and she actually picked up the first time, she made it super easy for me to view the apartment within 10 minutes, was extremely informative and responded immediately to my follow up texts with the questions that I had. My experience at the Madrid was awesome! I lived in two different units in the Madrid , a studio and when I found out my family was growing, still wanted to stay so moved in the 2 bedroom. The units were spacious, light and updated. Can't beat the location either, walking distance to the beach and Riveara Village. The property manager Vanessa was onsite and definitely went above and beyond to help with any questions or needs I had. She helped make renting an apartment seem more like a home. I would recommend the Madrid apartments to anyone looking to rent. read more

I rented an apartment here for my girlfriend who doesn't speak fluent English, totally positive experience. Carpet was new, place was clean and the price was great for the size of the place, super cute! They offer short term leases for a little bit of extra monthly rent, fit our circumstances perfectly. There were only a couple of minor issues that we ever had to call management for (disposal got jammed, needed a new screen), both times Vanessa made sure that these were taken care of within an hour or two. Good sized pool and gas BBQs are available, we took advantage of them plenty. Most importantly, the location doesn't get much better - the beach and Riviera Village (Redondo's main strip with restaurants, shops, etc.) are about a 5 minute walk away. Fantastic! read more

I lived at the Madrid Apartments for 4 years and absolutely loved it. I only moved out because I bought a condo or else I would have never left. The location is perfect, nice and easy walk to the beach and restaurants. The building is nice and clean. Vanessa is quick to get things fixed and answers promptly. I recently moved to Madrid Apartments. I had lived there back in 2006-2007, and always hoped that I could move back, because I loved living there. I applied for an apartment a few weeks ago, and Kimberly, of the leasing center, made the application process go very smoothly, and I was approved quickly. She is very kind, professional, helpful, and efficient. She made my entire move-in seem seamless and I am so grateful for her efforts. The maintenance team is very nice and fixes things quickly. Everyone in the leasing center is so nice! I just love living at Madrid Apartments! It's just gorgeous, and is close to everything you need! My favorite apartment complex that I have ever lived in! First off I'd like to address the review below. If you look up "Zoltan B." He has numerous bad reviews that only have "1" review. Zoltan B is a bot or a troll. The information he is providing is no where near my experience with the Madrid apartments or Scott and his wife. I tried to report this to Yelp, but they said the claim is an opinion. So apparently BOTS and Trolls are okay to comment on Yelp. I'd like to offer the opinion of someone who knows the property well and has been there over a year. Madrid provides comfortable living near the beach. The grounds are kept up nice, (I really like to sit and listen to the water feature in the front), the laundry is always accessible and clean, and there is plenty of covered parking. I'm not sure what Zoltan the BOT was talking about with parking. Currently the management is renovating the apartments! They've done a great job taking steps to make the apartments look great and I can't wait to see what they have in store. The landlords are on site which is nice when there is an issue or maintenance needs to be taken care of. Scott is always quick to respond and super helpful. Visitors come in when someone is there to let them into the gated community. Yeah it's a gated community which is really nice to have. The area surrounding The Madrid is nice and there are lots of places to eat and walk or bike to. The neighbors are friendly and the area is not loud at night. I would highly recommend anyone to live at The Madrid. Their prices to rent are very reasonable. On a side note, I do hope Yelp looks into Zoltan B and his erroneous posts. It is very obvious he does not live on the property. Because if he did, we'd know him. :) read more

So- the only reason why I am giving the Madrid a 4 star review is because the apartment building itself is old and needs a lot of work. That being said, the current manager is super responsive to all of our needs and very accommodating. I always see her working with the maintenance people and she always double checks their work after the job has been completed. I look forward to experiencing and living out the changes and upgrades being made. I love the location of the building and how kid friendly the building is. We have an easy bike riding access, restaurants, multiple grocery stores within walking distance and the beach is only a 7 min. walk away!! Love it. read more

Do yourself a favor and look for somewhere else! Scott and his wife is the worst,rude landlords you can find.Once you moved in they don't care about you and your problems,and if you invite visitors they throw them out saying "you don't live here,get out!".Seriously,I have witnesses saw this happening.You pay enormous rent for having no balcony,patio or garage.Finding a parking spot close to the house is a real headache EVERY day,and the elevator is down at least once per month. read more

I moved into the Madrid in June if 2014, I moved out July 2017. Right out of the gates this was a frustrating experience. Initially, I was given the wrong apartment number by the Manager which caused massive confusion and extra hassle on moving day. When I took the keys from the manager, I was presented with a very clean and fresh apartment, however, the stove was provided without burners (electric) or drip pans. The manager promised to handle that "right away", didn't happen. I did the groundwork and made the purchase, remedied the situation myself. These units do not have air conditioning, and therefore we were 100% dependent on the ocean breeze, which was nice, BUT I soon realized my screen in the large picture window was completely bent at the dram leaving a 3 x 4 inch gap, resulting in my keeping the window closed or allowing for bugs to enter. I soon also realized my bathroom window screen to be completely pushed out of the window frame after having a bee incident post shower one day. Both issues submitted on the proverbial "maintenance ticket" that historically resolves itself without even a phone call, inspection by management, and definitely not a repair. About 5 months into my stay, I witnessed my first ever cockroach. Being from the Suburban Midwest, I have never had such an encounter! I absolutely panicked! It was identified as an outdoor roach by management, an d I need not worry. This left me absolutely begging for window screen repair, which was once again ignored. They did however spray for the bugs. I was one of the fortunate ones with a garage spot, or so I thought. The plumbing runs through the ceiling of the garage and is constantly in disrepair. Myself along with a good handful of my neighbors ended up with rust spots on the roof of our cars from the rusty drips. The gentleman immediately next to me in the garage had more of a constant stream of water rather than a drip and was left covering his vehicle after each and every use. He is elderly and on a fixed income, I felt so very bad for him. Managements response "you park here at your own risk" so basically "oh well". The elevator was a great feature as the walk with groceries from your car to your apartment is extensive. However, ride at your own risk as at least once a month somebody ended up stranded in the elevator for hours, and when it happened on the weekend, management was resistant to getting the elevator company out due to cost, so that came with sever attitude, not from the old manager though, that was from the new managers who are really unfriendly and arrogant. There are multiple sewer and water issues. The water is turned off on a regular as they seem to bandaid rather than fix whatever is the problem. I work strange hours as a nurse. I was in the shower one day, full of soap, and boom, the water stopped. I went right down to the manager Julia (old manager) and asked why we were not notified. Her response was "well we figured everyone would be to work by this time, go jump in the pool to rinse off". I was due to work in less than an hour. When I moved out, water was still on and off all the time, with notice, but it was often. The laundry room is inadequate for the amount of tenants, and I have actually witnessed laundry wars between renters, I promise this is true, shocking. Clothes taken and thrown away, etc. the actual washers they provide sometimes do not even saturate all of the clothes. Still dry after the load is complete at a cost of $1.75 a wash and $1.50 a dry. Overall, if you like dirty looks from management, a disregard for needed repairs, and a guaranteed max rent increase the second the calandra says they can, you will be right at home. read more

The Madrid is a beautiful place with amazing residents and really great parking structures. A great price for living a few blocks from the sea! You always see the managers walking around the complex, checking in on the maintenance crew, and making sure everything is kept up to par. It's pretty quiet which is something I love about it, there's no rowdy college kids or annoying noises late at night. The elevators come in handy especially when movie in and all the apartments are cleaned, re-painted and Julia (the manager) puts a nice little 'housewarming' gift in the apartment when moving in. I called about an apartment for rent advertised on craigslist. The woman who answered the phone (Julia) was very b*tchy but agreed to meet me at 6:15 pm a few days later to view the unit. I considered cancelling due to her attitude, but decided to give her the benefit of the doubt just in case she was just having a bad day. The parking situation was horrible; I had to park several blocks away and called to let her know I would be a few minutes late. A man answered the phone and said she wasn't even there; she had to leave to get some papers or something. The unit in question is apparently still occupied and the management agreed not to show it after 5 pm. THEN WHY THE HECK DID YOU SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 6:15?! They apparently also had someone interested in renting it--good luck to them! I would never in a million years consider living in a place like this with such crappy managers! read more

DO NOT RENT HERE! The property manager is non-responsive and you cannot reach a living human to save your life - the only thing you can do is leave a message, and it won't be returned. The parking structure is infested with fleas and just recently I found out that there are units with bedbug infestations - all of which the on-site manager and the property manager are aware of but won't bring in professional exterminators. Stay away from this place and all units owned and "managed" by G&G Property Management. read more

Hi everyone My name is Yvette and I was living at the Madrid Apartment for almost 3 years. I moved out about a month ago. Well I went down to visit one of my friends this Tuesday and I had the worst and shameful moment. I was with my 16 months old boy. The front door you need to press a code to get in., well I know the code and I get in. The manager she came out from the office with a huge attitude and she told me that I can't get there anymore because I don't live there. I was in shock for the way she said that. And I just said That I was there to visit a good friend of mine. And she said " I don't care" you don't live here anymore. Omg!! she made me feel so bad in front of my baby. And of course I told her that she is nobody to tell me that I can be there o not. Well we got in to an argument. At that point that she told me to get my son and get out because she will call the police. Her husband came over to let me know that if I want to visit a friend they have to came over and open the door for my....Thank you!!!!!! is all that I needed to hear. I never had problems living there. Only when the new office manager move in everything was very uncomfortable. If you want to live there they will be so nice to you. But ones you move out they don't care about you anymore. They did it to me. Good luck and think twice if you want to pay that price for nothing. (NO GARAGE NO BALCONY) read more
