This place was recommended by a local who doesn't eat fish..big mistake! I ordered the Salmon which had nice charred marks from the grill but tasted way too charred. All I tasted was the char..is that a word? Asked for lemon to soften the taste explaining to waitress why and she said she didn't like the way it tasted either but some people like it that way. She asks to have hers on the flat grill..wish that option was offered to me...ruined my dinner. No offer from her to redo, reduce price or comp a dessert...not impressed. read more

So my wife and i stopped in for lunch. The place was fairly busy as it was a sunny Saturday afternoon. We shared an order of fish tacos and dirty tots which are tater tots covered with cheese sauce, green onion, and bacon. This with a beer and Mojito came to 50 bucks. The food was really nothing to brag about. The cheese sauce was out of a can im sure and the fish tacos i don't think had very fresh fish because they were a little fishy tasting. Pretty good place to get some basic grub. Disappointed they didn't serve breakfast or brunch. With the location and view, it felt like a missed opportunity not to serve brunch....I felt like they were struggling with identity and not really sure what to be when they grew up. One star for the location and hour. One star for the stiff Bloody Mary. One star for good food: Jambalaya pasta, Ravioli du jour, and cheese burger are satisfying. What I don't like: overprice. Jambalaya Pasta was good but not $25 good. Ravioli was good but for $18, we thought the chicken breast came with it. But we were surprised that is $7 additional. My daughter is less than 90 pounds and why the waitress did not mention the chicken is extra and she ended up not finishing her dinner annoys me. Burger is a solid $10 quality. We stumbled upon this gem of a pub today mid-bike ride (rode from the Orcas ferry to Moran State Park then up Mt. Constitution (most of the way for me/my husband rode the entire mountain) and then back to the ferry with a stop in Eastsound for lunch). I don't just think it was that we were famished -- I ordered coconut prawns with a sweet Thai dipping sauce and a mixed green salad with blue cheese dressing, honey roasted almond slivers, sweet grape tomatoes (it also came with bay shrimp but I'm not a fan so I asked to have those left off). Aside from my salad being slightly overdressed, everything was just delicious and perfectly prepared and seasoned. I do have to fess-up that the sweet Thai chili dipping sauce came straight from a bottle -- but I know which brand it is and it was good nonetheless. My husband had a simply delicious pulled pork sandwich and fries. The pork was so tender and tasty that it didn't need to be drowned with BBQ sauce (and it wasn't). The pulled pork sandwich had a nice crispy slaw on it rather than you're standard lettuce or often times limp slaw. The fries are the thicker cut which neither of us are really fond of, but they were well-cooked and tasty nonetheless. The service was great -- from setting up a table in the corner so we could keep an eye on our bikes through to the attentiveness of our server throughout the meal. Great views (they have deck seating) and nice atmosphere with the distressed wood floors and other wood throughout. There is also a fireplace for those cold days. read more

not horrible, definately not great. A college friend and I spent the weekend on Orcas and found this place just walking along. I started with a chowder which seemed bland. We were told later they came from a bag. a bag soup? apparently both of the soups they have are heated from a bag. here on the ocean and that's the best you can do? Greasy fish and fries. My friend had a burger that was overcooked. I suspect it's a hit and miss at this place as there are some really good reviews. In our case it was more of a miss than a hit. When dining out, the staff who cares about your experience makes all the difference, especially when there is a mess up. "Hello folks and welcome to our place of business, after all we know you can dine elsewhere." (We'd like good reviews!) our food was delivered, no follow up. We went to Madrona for dinner Saturday evening. The venue is beautiful overlooking the water. But the service was among the worst I have ever experienced. Perhaps it was a bad day, but the server was surly and rude. With a relatively limited (but good) selection to start with, they were out of cioppino, clam chowder, mussels, linguini with clams. That's frustrating but not the server's fault. She brought one more cup of seafood bisque than we ordered (which is very tasty) and insisted my daughter had ordered one, which she did not. Not a big deal, but she walked off in a huff. When the meals arrived, the garlic mashed potatoes in the menu had been replaced by fried potatoes. She didn't mention it and when I asked she ignored me and walked off. The entire meal was uncomfortable and we were glad to leave. I asked to speak to the manager and relayed to her how dissatisfied I was. She said she was sorry we felt that way and that they are understaffed. My daughter was returning from the restroom and overheard the server tell someone we were looking for something free and better not get it. I neither asked for nor was offered anything. But I wanted the management to know what we had experienced. My wife was once a waitress and we always tip even when service is poor. But this was the first time I ever left zero. We will not return, and cannot recommend others dine there. read more

We had take out here recently and the food was good so we decided to try dining in the restaurant. Unfortunately the service was terrible from the time we stepped in the door. We were not promptly greeted and was made to feel like we were a burden to them. We were told we had to wait twenty minutes for a table despite showing up a few minutes early. We had reservations made 1 week early and was told we wouldn't be able to sit near a window because we didn't make our reservation early enough...yet, at the time I made the reservation, the person taking the reservation said they were wide open for the evening. After being seated and no service for 5 minutes (not even an "I'll be right with you") we got up and left as this place is not worthy of my money. I'm glad we called ahead because they were full for dinner, it was mainly locals, and if the locals are loving it then it must be good. The service was superior, they went above and beyond. Starving the wife and I stopped in here to grab some dinner. She ordered a cheese burger with fried and I had the 14oz rib eye medium. When Jessica first started eating the burger she said its good...then more than half way done she replied it's better than I thought. My steak was cooked perfect and had good seasonings plus I had the blue cheese chunks on top. The steak itself wasn't that of a high end restaurant but tasty. The place was packed when we went for dinner, so we chose to sit at the bar instead of wait. The bartender was friendly and attentive. My husband got the linguine and clams and I got the seafood pomodoro. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The waitress treated us to a delicious chocolate cake when she learned we were visiting the area for our honeymoon. Nice touch! read more

Well the good first. Great view! Ok on with the rest. Friend ordered the steak special, ribeye with crab, medium please. Came out so well done jerky is rarer. They fixed it and greased the squeaky wheel with fries and some dessert. Second go round the steak was better. My blue cheese salad with shrimp, that I asked to be omitted was basically greens from the grocery store bin and not the fresh ones, but the bottom of the barrel ones. Small as in a McDonald's kid burger is bigger, no blue cheese and some, 3 in total, Tomatoes. All of it wilted and shriveled. Other friend ordered a burger. Safe I would think. One lettuce leaf, one green tomato and not a slice but literally one small as in center of the onion ring! And ordered medium arrived as a wonderful black brick. Had a beer or two mine arrived as not what I had ordered not once but twice. Prices were high but not crazy for the location. Service was friendly but scarce and when having to fix something scared. Orcas is an agricultural hub. Food is serious here. This was not orcas island food. I do not think I'll be back. Even though I live here. read more

As a family of 4 we decided to try this place during our vacation to Orcas. It was very hot that day and inside was super warm. Beautiful views though. Good service. Very tasty food. I had the crab bisque soup, even though it was a warm day...I just had to taste it. Glad I did because it was super good. Sort of like a chowder. Then I had a salmon sandwich. Very good with balsamic vinegar on it. I think the salmon may have needed a little salt, however I ate the whole thing and liked it very much. My daughters had a chicken sandwich and love them. My husband had their burger and like that a lot. Oh and we tried their crab dip! So good!!!!!! Lots of flavor. With my sandwich I had the coleslaw and thought it was good and different. It had lots of dill in it! Prices are a bit high, but we knew that going in and in a tourist town I wouldn't expect anything less. Would definitely eat there again if we get the chance! read more

If you sit out on the deck, the setting makes the experience worth it. My son's fish & chips were burnt, but fine for a 7 year old. I had the Ravioli with Spinach and Feta, which I would recommend. We had Bruschetta for an appetizer, was very good and I would also recommend it. My wife had the Filet Mignon. It was cooked correctly, but the flavor was off and the garlic mashed were plain and lacked flavor. Very kid friendly and the service was good. read more
