Fast, friendly service. We each ordered crepe #2 (with Sautéed veggies, mushrooms, fontina cheese, garlic, and yogurt with fresh dill, with buckwheat batter for $1 extra). Also, we shared a small order (6) of mushroom and cabbage pierogi. Our order came in less than 10 minutes. We loved the crepes. Though they were expensive ($18.50 each, +$1), they were unique and delicious. We enjoyed the pierogi, the taste was unlike any other we've had. But at $3 each, they were not worth the price to us. We thought they'd be a bit bigger and have more filling for that price. It's basically an $18 appetizer (and a small one at that). This past Saturday, on a jewel of a sparkling day in the Pac NW, we drove up to Bellingham from Seattle for a day trip. The "we" in question was my mom, daughter, and moi. We had many goals for the day: (1) Meet up with my sister, the kidlets, and friends (solo parenting for the weekend, she and a friend whose hubby had also gone on the same guys trip, decided to rent an Airbnb for a night and have company and commiseration wrangling the rambunctious littles); (2) Lunch somewhere FAB; (3) Visit an elderly family friend in Stanwood; (4) Hit up the Outlet Mall in Tulalip-- gifts and essentials for an upcoming international trip were on the shop list. If you know me, Lunch somewhere FAB took up most of my brain space, LOL I was, of course, flexible. Between my vegetarian mother and FOUR kids between the ages of 4yo to 8yo, I knew my foodie self was going to need to take a chill pill. Sis and friend deemed Magdalena's to be suitable provided if they had space and so we made our merry caravan way from Fairhaven Park where we had met up. It took less than 5 minutes and an open parking spot literally right in front of the restaurant. Magdalena's was pretty much empty as we arrived at about 12:45p, 45min before closing. To the staff's credit, they did not bat an eye when I said we'd be a party of 9 with 4 kids. They quickly pulled tables together while I was waiting for the others to find parking spaces. FOOD: Of the food I sampled, all of the crepes (both sweet & savory) were incredible! -- Mine was the #3- Italian prosciutto, French brie, organic honey, topped with seasonal fruits (peaches here!) and mixed lettuce tossed with housemade Dijon-lemon-honey dressing. I. ATE.EVERY.BITE!! -- I also ate the last roughly 1/4 of my daughter's unfinished sweet crepe, which was the #34- Housemade Caramel, Belgian dark chocolate, seasonal fruit (strawberry+ blueberry), & topped with whipped cream. Wished there was more. -- I had a few bites of my niece&nephew's shared #1- Organic sunny side up egg, Fontina cheese, mushrooms, broccoli. The broccoli was gone by the time I sampled, but the 'shrooms were really good. 4yo niece tried to yuck my yum but I held strong and eventually she tried a tiny piece of the mushroom and deemed it "kinda not bad". The highest compliment given the situation. DRINKS: A full round of lemonades with different flavored syrups. In my daughter's estimation, one of the best lemonades she's ever had, because it still tasted like lemon even though it had... rose (me), strawberry (she), lavender. I love this restaurant. We have lived in Bellingham for a short while and will be moving soon; but even when we do we will definitely be returning as we have had nothing but good experiences here. The food is prepared with quality ingredients that are loaded with flavor and it is is obvious that the preparation is thought out and that the owner is passionate about sharing her recipes to the world. Ambiance: Everything feels home-like and traditional. It's cozy and well taken care of. The service is always good. Everyone here is friendly and attentive. We are vegetarian and normally I don't just bring that up but I am especially impressed by the staff remembering this about us. A good example was this morning our waitress saw us look at the specials board for the soup and making our day by letting us know that they had forgotten to put up a second option available that didn't have meat. There are so many places that would not care to take that extra step to please their customers and would have a "take it or leave it" response to people with dietary concerns. Because this is so common these days- Magdalenas stands out. We have tried a lot of different dishes here and theyve all been good-; Turkish cilbur, mushroom sandwich, breakfast bowl, the entree salads, and their omelets are especially good (I've had bad luck with omelets not being good from other restaurants and Magdalenas made me a fan again). The soups are perfect for the Washington weather. I am not much of a sweets person but their scones are perfect, as well as the donuts, cinnamon rolls etc. As far as drinks- the seasonal winter tea hits the spot. Mint or lavender lemonades have been good during warmer days and various espresso based beverages to choose from. Was walking in Fairhaven looking for a place for lunch and found this Creperie and decided to have lunch here today. Service was good and attentive. I order the #7 which was a savory crepe with prosciutto, brie, arugula, strawberries, and drizzled with honey. It was actually tasty. The crepe was crunchier than what I was use to, but it worked for this dish. I also ordered a latte and it was so pretty when it came out that I didn't want to ruin it by drinking it. Limited seating outside but on a nice day like today, I would suggest you take the outside seating. Came here to grab quick breakfast as we were new to the city and wanted to try something different than the usual brunch. This hit the spot right on. Bellingham's mist favorite local spot is my favorite too now. Their setting is charming, cute and feels like Poland (atleast I was told so). We got the seasonal drink for coffee- Lavender white chocolate and it didn't disappoint, was so good. I wondered why I went for small size:* For food we got the Beef and pork pierogis (didn't take a pic) which came with sour cream and this was an interesting combo! We found out why the service plummeted when we got the check. Surprised with a bill which included a previously-undisclosed 20% auto-gratuity for a table-of-5: 4 adults and my child, whose breakfast had been entirely forgotten by the staff. After all of the adults were served we had to flag down a waitress to ask about my son's order: and then again when they brought it and didn't include his glass of milk. It would be one thing if the auto-grat had been disclosed; another if the service had been even acceptable; We could debate whether a 2-year-old should count for headcount on an auto-grat but how do you justify charging it when you forgot that meal entirely? 0/5 stars. Magdalena's Creperie was one of favorite dining experiences yet this year! The restaurant was busy, but the staff were doing their very best to take care of us. The host went out of her way to find us a seat. The espresso was expertly pulled, and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. One in our party had a savory crepe (Brie, prosciutto, caramelized onion, and fig jam), and another had a sweet crepe (Nutella). I had Pierogi (half beef & pork, half potato & farmer's cheese). So, the fact that this happened, I was already a little nervous that this wouldn't be the best choice. However, I love Polish food and was super excited that this was an option in Bellingham. Well, after finally giving our order, we waited 30 mins and still no coffee. The other table that was sat after us, got coffee and their food. Still no coffee for us. When my mom asked how much longer we would be waiting, the owner said..."It's busy today. And you ordered crepes." I said, we should have at least gotten our coffee. I guess the crepes take longer...however, this is a creperie. She wasn't very gracious, which made me even less gracious. So, we decided it would be best to leave. I've tried both crepries in town, but I love Magdalena's way more than the other place in terms of the food and the ambience just to name a few. Over the years, my son and I have tried different crepes here, both sweet and savory. My favorite is the savory crepe with spinach, caramelized red onion, pork,and mushroom sauce (photo). My son's favorite is the sweet crepe with homemade caramel, fresh fruits, and chocolate. Their crepes are very well crafted in that they combine the ingredients in such a way that they work together. For example, the mushroom sauce does not mask the other ingredients; it actually brings out the flavors of the other ingredients. Even with sweet crepes, you can taste individual ingredients (e.g., fruits, caramel, etc). It is not my intention to "bash" another business, but when we had sweet crepes at the other creperie, they were just "masses" of overly sweet ingredients melted together. We could barely tell one sweet crepe from the other! I love their French press coffee. The small size is 17 oz ($4.25). I find it too big for one, but a bit too small for two. This is a small establishment. I would not say the ambience is intimate or romantic, but the decor is tastefully put together. Both families and couples can have great time here. The service is on the slow side. We were here today and it's definitely not closed. Family owned and so lovely. We sat outside and enjoyed the bustling Fairhaven District. My husband and I shared pork, cabbage and mushroom peirogis with the most delicate and flavorful cream sauce. We also had the farm cheese/potato ones with a nice sour cream. So delicate and cooked perfectly. We went to Krakow for our honeymoon and this place is as close to authentic polish food as we have found since then. Worth a drive north!! read more

Magdalena's has a diverse menu and while there are some decadent choices, it is mostly given over to quality, fresh ingredients. First we ordered coffee. It was very high quality and not served in paper cups. For our breakfast, I chose avocado toast with fresh arugula, a poached egg and seasonal veggies. My wife chose a buckwheat crepe with fresh strawberries and cream. The food was so good that I ordered a full repeat. There is no doubt that eating out for breakfast is big business in Fairhaven...and that means strong competition resulting, universally, in very nice food . My husband and I visited Bellingham for a small get away. I was ecstatic to find this restaurant because they appeared to have a fantastic menu, and I had been craving crepes for a long time!! So, we happily sat down and Left couldn't wait to see the menu. But, unfortunately we never received a menu. Despite there only being two tables of customers and plenty of available seating, we still patiently waited. My husband and I watched someone who may have been the owner walk over to greet customers right next to us, but we still received no greeting or a menu. It's not like the establishment is has a million tables! She proceeded to walk past us with no greeting and walked back into the kitchen. We patiently waited thinking maybe they are just very detailed about their crepes to make 1/3 customers wait so long without a greeting or menu. By the way, there were two other employees there as well. Finally, we stood up to walk out. One of the employees walked toward the menus and placed her hand in the menu. There was no smoke salmon in there but bacon. When I told them that they gave me the wrong one they said they were out of salmon. Amazing crepes and pierogis! We ordered several crepes for the table and shared. Our son enjoyed the Nutella and banana crepe.

I wanted to go somewhere new and have been to the crepe place downtown several times, so decided to try Magdalena's. It was delicious. We split a crepe that had egg, mozzarella, tomato, green onion, and bacon. The crepe was extremely light and flaky. I've had a few chewy crepes in my life and this was so much more enjoyable. It tasted light and fresh, and the proportions of fillings were perfect so it didn't feel heavy and overloaded. We also split the sweet crepe with lemon juice, powdered sugar, and white chocolate drizzle. I could have eaten 10 of them. It was probably not a big enough meal for my boyfriend, so maybe next time we will each get our own. Half and half was okay for me, but I tend to like smaller meals. The pros are the tasty, unique, and quality food dishes cooked fresh to order. Also service is very efficient except an issue mentioned below. They are located in a beautiful space, but it is quite small. The cons are that it gets very cramped and busy at times, and while the servers wear masks, multiple staff members preparing food or near food in the preparation area and back kitchen were not wearing masks in tight proximity with the food and plates during the COVID wave 5 timing where the state guidance is to wear masks indoors in venues like this, but multiple staff members do not seem to care, and that is part of the 2 star deduction. The fact that 2 large fresh squeezed orange juices costs $16 before tax and tip and 2 small ones cost $12 pre tax and tip just seems outright wrong also leading to a potential 5 star rating adjusted to 3 stars. read more

My friend and I went here for a brunch. First, I went in and the wall says please wait to be seated so we waited to be called and then one waitress said from inside the counter, sit anywhere you want. It made sense because there were only three groups besides us. So we sit in a four people table. Well, a waitress came to us without greeting, she said we should move because we are two people, and she tried to move one table away so we can just have a small table with two seats. But she changed her mind because we looked focused since the waitress said anywhere and the restaurant wasn't even busy at all. She said to us, if there will be more than four people, she will move our table. However, there were four tables next to us that available, if she needs a table for more than four, she doesn't even need our table. Then, the waitress who had black hair said sit anywhere came to take our order. She is pissed lol She is not happy at all. No smile, no greeting. When we were sitting, I saw the blond hair waitress looking at us with rolling eyes. During the whole time, no waitress ever came to us or say anything. Because the food is good so I gave two stars but services were bad. At least, I don't think the waitresses have a good relationships or a communication?! read more

Food was alright. The service was HORRIBLE. The person who sat me took my order quickly which I was grateful for. But when the food came, they placed the plate in front of me and left. I didn't have a chance to ask for ketchup, salt, or pepper. But because I was super hungry, I ate anyways. No one came to check on me so I couldn't ask for anything. I sat there for a while and then finally someone (not the waitress) asked if they could clear the table. I waited for a while and finally decided to go to the counter to ask for a new pen. When I was getting up, all of a sudden, the waitress who I barely saw got in my face and said "can I help you?" I told her the pen wasn't working and she took the pen out of my hand and drew really hard on my to-go container until the pen started working then handed it back to me. She then stood there watching me write the tip amount and sign and walked away. If you really want to try the food, get takeaway because the service was horrible.
