Great location for tourists and locals. Come during the week for great seats!

Great menu, food, and service. Love this place. Come during the week and it is much easier to walk right in and get a seat by the water.

This was our faaaavorite bar out of all the ones we visited on Sixth Street on a crazy Saturday night in July. This one was different. Sure it was insanely crowded and packed on both stories, but we loved having that open air and space to love around and dance on the rooftop. The music was ON POINT with my personal taste...ranging from electronic pop, alternative to contemporary music, and generally good music to dance to. There were some folks dance battling with one another, and others were just enjoying the drinks and the entire vibe. We had gin and tonic here and we were happy. We'll definitely come back if we're in the area again. Also, if you're into more traditional music and want to stray away from mainstream stuff, there was an awesome band singing covers of classic oldies that we really enjoyed too. Forgot the name of their band, unfortunately!

This is a well-known establishment on the popular Sixth Street. Absolutely adored visiting this place. It's huge! There's a cool bar area and another sort of outdoor patio and an upstairs. Decor is trendy and fun. Drinks are very reasonably priced and the service incredible. I love it when people truly like their jobs and welcome patrons with open arms. Top notch!

I had the opportunity to check out Maggie Mae's earlier this month. SXSWedu held their Closing Party at Maggie Mae's and I attended. So, forewarning, this review is more of what the place is like during a hosted event, and may not represent the usual experience. Maggie Mae's is a large venue space with two levels. When I entered, security scanned by SXSWedu badge and ID'd me to confirm I was of age. They were adamant about that (especially since the party was open bar). On the street-level floor, there was a bar to your right and tables around the floor. First floor was packed. I wanted to check out the musical performance and DJ scheduled, so I went upstairs where the stage and dance floor were. On the second-floor rooftop, there were two bars - a larger one to the right and a smaller one closer to the stage/dance floor. The venue set up a taco/nacho table by the larger bar, where staff served ground beef for tacos and nachos (everything else was self-serve on the table). From the second-floor rooftop, there is an indoor second floor area (which I think is called the Gibson room). In there, the décor is luxe and sleek looking. The bar inside is pretty large, too. The bathrooms are also in this area. The sound on the second floor was good. The area around the stage got really crowded, so I stuck to one of the tables that overlook the street. There were some lounge-y couches, but not many people left their spots on them if they got one. Maggie Mae's was very nice. The bartenders and staff working the event were friendly, polite, and fun. It was a good time. They run events well here.

Of all the Austin bars I went to on my recent trip I had the most fun at this one. This is my activities as I remember them: $2.00 BEERS upstairs A group of old men wanting me and my friends to go back to their room and PARTAY. (No thanx) A drunk girl trying to dance while being held up by two people $2.00 BEERS The band playing a song by Pearl Jam and my friend Ellen having a orgasm meltdown on the dance floor $2.00 BEERS A group of cowboys from Fort Worth in town for a wedding. One of the cowboys was a vampire and tried to bite my neck. (I may or may not upload a picture of that to my profile and/or Maggie Maes local photos) $2.00 BEERS Thinking the band must be from LA because the majority of their songs were reggae and ska. My friend making out with vampire cowboy $2.00 BEERS Me taking pictures with my neck extended to avoid double chinage. $2.00 BEERS Thinking I was a solid gold dancer after about the 20th $2.00 beer. $3.50 BEER time to leave.

Such a great spot for drinks and live music! Dj on the balcony.... acoustic downstairs during the early hours. Friendly staff!

Well it's located on 6th street so the vibe can sometimes be all over the place but when I went it was chill at least on the 1st floor but the rooftop level was a bit more lively with good 90s music and top 40 playing. The drinks are relatively priced decent enough and the bartenders are cool! If in the area this a place to stop at before heading to other bars.

I happen to stop at this bar when IHeartRadio brought 2 surprise guests. Dylan Scott and Dustin Lynch! Great live music. The bartenders are friendly and the space is nice. There is a roof top bar with a bunch of seating during the day. Only complaint is the small women's bathroom on the first floor. Long line and no toilet paper.

I'll start by complimenting the staff! Everyone we encountered - bar tender, server both - had a great sense of humor and were a pleasure to engage with. They treated us to a round of shots after we had a few rounds. Generally the vibe of the crowd is very friendly and we made some new friends to hang with part of the evening. Regardless of the food or ambiance the server is the face of the establishment. Bad service can easily lead to a bad review. In this case the waitress, when she finally showed up, was not friendly. She was indifferent, like we were bothering her, and had a borderline RUDE attitude. The clincher was her assumption on who was paying the bill. We waited a good ten minutes for her to initially show up. When she got to the table the first thing she asked for was a credit card to cover the drinks we ordered; which I thought was strange since our family was sitting at a table and ordering dinner. After the food was delivered she never returned to check on us. Other servers had to get us refills and were happy to do so. When she finally returned at the end of the meal with the bill , all smiles of course, she had already run the credit card without ever giving us the bill to review??? The card she asked for, for the drinks, was NOT meant to pay the bill. We were going to split the bill but since she already ran the card the cardholder didn't feel comfortable asking her to rerun the card. This was VERY awkward!! None of us have EVER experienced anything like this ever!! I wish I had gotten her name. I'm giving a 2 star review because everyone though the food was good.

Finally made our first visit so we could try "the best fish & chips" in the Austin area. The service was enough to want me to go back hopefully for us in this area they end up somewhere close by as I know how hard it is to find good workers. Pretzels were good! My son was over the moon! Couldn't even finish half of it and he wanted to haha. The mushy peas were yummy and added an authenticity to the dish. I didn't really use the curry sauce that also came with the dish. To me it doesn't go with fish or chips. "Nosh & Bevvy Won't Forgive Me for All the Ways They Wronged Me"…read more That title is meant to be ironic. After more than fifteen years as a customer, I made one mistake: a four-dollar tab discrepancy on a day when I had just been turned away from a dental appointment because my blood pressure was too high for treatment. I was upset, distracted, and wanted to be around people I believed were my friends. That was the last day I ever stayed there as a customer. Let's go down the list. I have been accused of skipping out on my tab. The truth is that after fifteen years of faithful patronage, there was one incident involving approximately four dollars. I had added items to my order, paid cash, and made a mistake. One mistake in fifteen years. After that happened, I became concerned that I would continue to be treated as though I couldn't be trusted. In my experience, comments about unpaid tabs continued to surface. Rather than create another misunderstanding, I made a point of being generous. On the very next occasion I tipped Charlie more than fifty percent. Instead of feeling appreciated, I arrived the next time feeling insulted when the entire amount was simply pocketed without so much as an acknowledgment. Maybe others see that differently. That's how it felt to me. The situation became even more disturbing when interactions began taking place outside the bar itself. While standing in front of my own home, I experienced conduct that I considered harassment. As a result, I filed a police report and have the corresponding case number in my email records. What disturbed me even more were stories that reached me through people connected to my former partner. According to what we were told, false rumors were being circulated claiming that my ex-girlfriend had committed suicide. Whether people thought this was gossip, entertainment, or somehow harmless, it was not. The psychological harm caused by spreading something like that is difficult to overstate. Shame on everyone involved. What you don't know is Satara an I  spoke with witnesses that completely implicated Gilbert in the rumor. What strikes me now is that I nearly forgave all of this. I removed earlier reviews because I genuinely wanted to move on. I thought it was over. I thought everyone could move on with their lives. Apparently not. If people insist on dragging the issue back into the light, then here it is. The reality is that I don't even particularly miss the place. What I do object to is being disrespected. When a business chooses to disrespect a customer who supported it for fifteen years, there are consequences. One of those consequences is that customer telling his side of the story publicly. A Message to the Staff: If I believe I am being harassed in public--whether at Night Owl or anywhere else--I will pursue every legal remedy available to me. And Sam, for what it's worth, I am sorry that your employees have represented your business in a way that ultimately cost you a longtime customer and the loss of business from everyone else that read & took this review to heart as a warning & again, Sam & Charlie, for what it's worth I wanted to make all of this go away.  Fifteen years. One four-dollar mistake. And somehow I'm still the one expected to apologize when I feel like my partner and I were the ones most wronged. Because I'm not a completely vindictive man. If I get an apology from every employee that works building that knows me, In writing, I will remove this review. -- Mad Dashiell
