Very good food. Very nice waitress. Very bad table. Went Christmas Eve-with reservations- and was sat in an almosy empty dining room at the end of a party of 6. At a table so small we didn't have a light because it wouldn't fit. Not nice. More tables sat empty the entire time we were there. We were there Saturday Feb 17, 2024. I was starving hoping for a wonderful Italian supper. I was so disappointed with the food. The Veal saltim bocca was disgusting. Tough like an old boot, tasteless, I cook better than the chef. I am a good cook, but sometimes I want to be stve also. This is a great new restaurant on the North Shore. The prices are decent for an upper-end Italian restaurant. I've read that it's noisy, it wasn't a nuisance by any stretch. The food was very good as were the drinks. They have white linen tablecloths over every table which gives the vibe an air of exclusivity ( the cost to clean those linens is phenomenal). The chef has all the tools to deliver great food but he needs to have a bit more finesse. The shrimp cocktail comes in a desert glass with no horse radish or Tabasco. However, the shrimp was plump and very good but, like the oysters, not quite as chilled as they should have been. The bread that came with oil dipping sauce was tasteless. The oil needed a bit more hots. The octopus salad was excellent The oricchetti pasta with rabe and sausage had a garlic, white wine sauce to die for but the sausage was thickly sliced and not crumbled. The chef has the mechanics to serve spectacular food but he or she is lacking the requisite pedigree in presentation to make this a 5 star hit. Give it time, well worth the trip. read more

Well where do I start, I ordered the meatballs as a appetizer. I order them because they came recommended. I found them to be dry, over done and not a lot of flavor. On to the main dish. I order Chicken Marsala what came to the table was a chicken dish but not chicken marsala, not sure what it was, I was hungry so I said "the hell with it" what a mistake after 3 bits I could not eat it, again no flavor. My wife order Veal parmigiana and my friend ordered Chicken parmigiana no cheese on the top they had to send back the dishes, when the dishes came back all they did was place cold cheese on top. The waitress never ask if we would like graded cheese on your meal? what Italian restaurant does not ask if you would like would graded cheese ? She ask me how everything was I said "not very good" she went over and got the owner. The owner came over, he ask me how was everything told him "not very good", he said "let me bring you over a new chicken marsala" at this point I was no longer hungry and just wanted to leave. He did bring me over a new dish but it look nothing like the first chicken marsala the served me. (so what did I get for my first meal?) At this point I was not interested in trying the meal, I just wanted the bill. The bill came I was changed for the marsala, and for the wrong bottle of wine ask for a $40 bottle she brought over a $85 bottle.I paid for the wine because I drank it but when you ask for a $40 bottle don't switch it out with an $85 bottle. I told the owner I was not going to pay for my meal he said "oh sorry, it should have been removed from the bill" Sorry I had high hopes for this place but with the amount of problems I had with my dinner I don't think I could go back or recommend Magia. read more

When we did ask, JUST bread was brought over. The pasta portions between our meals were two completely different portions, pastas the cheapest thing in my plate, let's serve some pasta. The red sauce had absolutely no flavor and was tangy, and the chicken pasta dish tasted like straight butter and garlic. Been wanting to try this place for awhile. The place is nice trendy and clean. The service was good, waitress was attentive. Now I usually judge a good Italian restaurant by their red sauce and bread. The bread was good but something was funky with the red sauce. It was a little too bland, a little acidity and whatever cheese they used as a garnish overpowered the food. I could tell something wasn't right with the eggplant parmigiana because of the smell and it was the overpowering cheese. So disappointed with my meal I didn't even consider dessert. With all that said I do think I would like to go back and try a dish without red sauce, try a cocktail and dessert. read more

I was finally able to dine here and boy what a disappointment! First and foremost the food was terrible and the service was meh. Our waiter forgot to put in our appetizer and was only worried about rushing us to order. For someone in a rush at least you can do is put the appetizer in. Then he gets upset that we didn't want the appetizer after our meal showed up! Now for the food. What a miss! I had the eggplant parm which was garbage. The plate barley had any pasta on it. Pasta is cheap and they decide to skimp on that?! The eggplant was bland. My wife had the Frutti DiMare which looked and tasted pathetic. Looks the sea was bare that night because they barley put anything in the dish and it had no flavor. Her pasta was over cooked and like mush. Who can't cook pasta? We really wanted to love this place because we live so close but this place is AWFUL ! Too many better options and I won't be back. I will drive to Boston then to go there again! Came from out of state and wanted Italian food. Waited forever for cold bread to finally be delivered to the table. My daughters 'mac and cheese' was more like an Alfredo with the white sauce thickened and clumpy to the noodles because it came out cold on a cold plate that we were told was hot by the runner. My husband sat with an empty drink throughout our appetizers and main course as our server disappeared and was never seen again. My chicken was tough to the point I couldn't cut through it. Finally about 25 minutes after getting our appetizers and main dishes the food runner asked if it was okay, I told him it was tough and told him he could take it. He asked to make it again and I just asked if he could take it off the bill. We had a 1 year old with us who was already done being there.. had the waiter checked on us when the food got brought out I may have had them remake it, but I couldn't wait another half hour food my food again. We got the initial bill of $97 which included the meal we didn't eat after the manager said she also tried to cut into it and it was tough, my husband dropped $100 bill in the tab and left. I asked the manager for a copy of the receipt and she handed me a receipt for $60. I asked why the initial bill the waitress gave us was for $97 and she explained that the chicken parm hadn't been taken off and the waitress gave us the original bill. The manager went and grabbed the tab off the table and the original $97 receipt was mysteriously gone and all that was left was the $60 bill, meaning we left a $40+ tip for the waitress that did nothing but gave us drinks. Shady all around. If you want Italian in the area save your money and go to Olive Garden. read more

Unfortunately our server was very overwhelmed to begin with and understandably so. However he was somewhat rude when I explained my allergies. The meals themselves were underwhelming for the price. My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary at Magia Restaurant in Danvers; it was a perfect ten in every respect. We had the broccoli rabe for an appetizer and I had the frutti di mare while my husband had the chicken piccata. Both entres were absolutely scrumptious. We had a wonderful wait person by the name of Johan and were totally impressed when the managers, Romeo and Phil, went to each table to greet their diners and to be sure everything was to their satisfication. Went and sat at the bar for dinner the other night. Bartenders and drinks were fabulous. Ordered eggplant parm and it was disappointing. Very crunchy and extremely dry with no sauce on the inside at all. Hubby had veal Marsala and it was underwhelming, very bland. This was our second time visiting Magia and we were left quite disappointed. We started with the calamari which were good and drinks were good too. The main meals is where we were left really disappointed. The lobster ravioli with vodka sauce was nothing close to a vodka sauce it was blob of red paste. The shrimp and scallops scampi was soupy and bland. The worse was that another person in our party ordered salmon which never arrived and the waitress kept telling us it's coming and we waited and waited. She said she would have them take care of it for us but that never happened. Magia could have been so much more, but we will definitely not be returning. We also left a message for them about this meal which was never acknowledged. Definitely do not recommend there are so many other places that serve real Italian food. read more

I would give this place a 0 if I could. Horrible . Got a sirloin and it came with no sides beside sautéed mushrooms and broccoli mixed together?? Half the mushrooms weren't even cooked all the way. I ordered a 9$ side of brussel sprouts that were a mushy mess sitting in water. The sirloin was cold and it was literally just the steak sitting on the plate no flavor didn't even taste like it was seasoned with basic salt and pepper. The mashed potato's my friend got tasted like instant potatos for 9$!! It was I had high hopes from other reviews but probably one of the worst dinners I've ever had out. I hate to leave a bad review, but I have no choice. I've been there once before and both food and service was good. This was the reasons why I recommended this place to my in-laws for their 50th wedding anniversary dinner. We had party of 10 and was seated at a square table with 9 sitting in the booth and 1 in a chair, when asked for another chair to spread out a bit, we were told she has to go and see if they have any spare once. No acknowledgment about our celebration. Service was slow and unpleasant. People bringing out food, plain rude. Not even making an effort placing plate in front of you, just calling dishes and hanging plates to customers. Took a while to get food, sat with dirty plates in front of us after apps and dinners. Waterless came to check on us and walked away without taking any dirty dishes away or sending someone to clean up. I have to say, food was pretty good. Except for our filet that came out completely cold, mine was not cooked to order. One of the sides came way to late, it was an undercooked Brussel sprouts swimming in some type of thin broth. I don't this it suppose to be served like this, but I had no energy to argue. One of our guests asked for some ice, and told waterless he did not need anything else, but for some reason she thought we were done and brought check out. At this point I just wanted to go home, but some people wanted to order a dessert, DO NOT ORDER PISTACHIO gelato. No idea what it make out of, but it's brown in color and does not taste like pistachio at all, it's made with some type of powder, maybe flavoring and it's all you can taste. Finally tried Magia here in Danvers, after having received a gift card from my brother in-law and wife, and my only regret is not trying it sooner. Initially so worried we were too underdressed, as the hostess seemingly looked my husband up and down in disapproval, before walking us into a diningroom that emitted fine dining. Within a minute, our server, Chris, was standing at our table with a cheerful smile. He brought us out of our discomfort and made us feel welcome, and also managed to get us to order apps, which we don't often do. It was early enough, before the dinner rush, so it was quiet and serene. Chris' recommendations were on point, from lamb lollipops right down to the mini cannolis. We will definitely be back, and we highly suggest anyone who is considering Magia, go as soon as possible! read more

Our visit started a little rocky, but greatly improved when our server Christina took over. We were seated promptly upon arrival, and a gentleman came with some water, bread and oil. After looking over the menu we were ready to order cocktails and an app, but no sign of a server for 10 minutes or so, which seemed longer. Meanwhile, we tried the bread and it was dry and tasted old. Also, there was too much oil in too deep a dish to get to the spices at the bottom. Finally Christina arrived and everything changed. She took our order for Magia-tinis and brought us fresh bread. Cocktails were delicious and packed a punch! We both ordered the Veal Chop Milanese and it was huge and fantastic. It was thinner than I imagined, and breaded and fried (if it had said fried on the menu, we would have passed). It was so good and tender and we ate lots and both had doggie bags afterwards for the next night's dinner. The side of Broccoli Rabe was garlicky and wonderfully delicious as well. Finally we ordered a pistachio gelato to share and coffee. Christina also brought us two little cannolis and a smooth little drink of chocolate and wine, in honor of our upcoming anniversary. My wife and I stopped in for a Quick bite and a drink around 8:15 on a Saturday night recently for the first time. The waitress came to our table and said she would be right back to take our order. Two other waiters stopped by our table and asked if we were being helped. We told them she said that she would be right back. 15 minutes later she finally shows up at our table.We finally ordered a martini and a bottled beer since they don't offer tap beer. We ordered the spiced calamari and a prosciutto pizza. They waitress took our order only to return to our high top table that was located in the bar area. She informed us that they were all out of PIZZA. My wife and I was a little surprised to hear that a Italian restaurant that offers pizza on there dinner menu would be all out of pizza. To our surprise the waitress informed us that this restaurant isn't really a pizza restaurant sarcastically.‍ We told her we will just stick with the Calamari. Our appetizer comes to our table and our drinks come 5 minutes later. You would think it would be the other way around. DRINKS FIRST!! Since it was the first time I was checking out the dinners coming out of the kitchen . Portion's were very small for the price. No need for doggy bags in this place. Everyone was leaving empty handed which didn't surprise me do to the Portions. I can't comment on the food Quality just the portions. Our Calamari was very good . Both the service and the meals left us disappointed. All the pasta was undercooked, fettuccini alfredo was lacking Alfredo and dry, chicken parm, was burnt, and chicken picatta was undercooked. This place is an absolute gem in danvers! We were able to reserve reservations easily online, very user friendly! Upon arriving they offer tons of parking around the area which is a big plus. Entering the restaurant the whole place is gives off a friendly, elegant, professional ambiance! Our waiter & food runners provided very professional service and was really helplful with drinks, food & appetizers! Starting with the apps, meaballs were sooo deliciou, perfectly seasoned and the sauce was just perfect 10/10, fried calamari was perfect as well, a little spicy, very crispy again 10/10. Onto the main course i selected the shrimo and scallop scampi style. The shrimp $ scallops was cooked to perfection, linguine cooked perfect, the sauce was very rich in flavor! The whole plate was a work of art! For dessert i chose canolis out of the many options they have! Again absolutely appetizing! Attended the Kevin Conan show. The flyer stated lunch, "CHOICE of chicken or Eggplant Parm" ALL that was served was CHICKEN; i asked for eggplant as I am a vegetarian and was told "There is ONLY CHICKEN!" Secondly, there was NOTHING ELSE served!! NO Salad, NO rolls, NO dessert, NO tea or coffee!!! For $65 you should at least get salad with your Pasta1 There were 10 tables, I counted close to 100 people so $6500!! NOT counting a lot of activity at the bar!! When I went to inquire about this to the general manager after the event: who was MORE INTERESTED in calculating BAR RECEIPTS then to hear my comments I was told "you are here for the SHOW not the food!!" We decided to give Magia a try on what is the busiest restaurant day of the year, which means the worst day...Valentines Day. We arrive a few minutes late for our 6p reservations but the reception was warm and welcoming. No sign they are stressed and they need to get you in and out ASAP to make it a profitable day. We were seated promptly and immediately received our drink orders. For a starter we got the onion strings with a spicey aoli. It was battered onion slivers surprisingly light and delicate which I can highly recommend. Next came our avocado salad with a mescaline mix, avocados, tomatoes, eggs in a sensational citrus dressing . I don't like salad but I know I must eat it. This one I enjoyed and wanted to lick the plate. Next came a veal piccata which we could cut with our fork. This was an extravagant dish that is 5 stars. Drinks and wine were perfect too. We were told about Fridays for the live music. The food is great and the service is so cheerful. The only thing standing between a 5 Star experience is a tad too bright lights and maybe a sound system playing mellow tunes in the background. 99% of people may not notice. read more
