Dora was amazing, she lives up to the name, Magic Alterations. I took my dress to a different tailor, and it was a wreck, almost destroyed. Dora took on my dress and fixed all of the mistakes from the previous tailor. she did a wonderful job on the dress. I bought the floor sample, and it was pretty big in some places. She took in the top, fixed the bra cups, hemmed the dress, adjusted the straps and added a bustle. The Dress turned out so wonderful. I truly felt beautiful and it would not be possible without Dora. I am so happy a friend referred me to Dora for my wedding dress alterations. My wedding dress was 3 sizes too big, had a lot of lace detailing and I was worried how the dress would look after all of the changes needed. The dress came out better than I could have ever imaged! I was extremely nervous because the sales woman at Anthropologie said the tailor would need to remove a whole chunk of embroidery, but Dora was able to shorten the dress a few inches without removing any embroidery. Dora altered my wedding dress for me and did an amazing job. We met serendipitously before I was even engaged, I saved her card and looked her up. She had told me "if you find a dress that isn't perfect, I can make it what you want!" and sure enough, the dress my Mom and I liked best wasn't perfect, and she made it so beautiful and flattering. I purchased a now discontinued style from BHLDN, the straps were too tank-top-y and I wanted them thinner and more at the edge of my shoulders, and this wasn't as easy as it sounded! The dress was two layers and had intricate flower applique she had to carefully cut and resew. I also wanted more of a kick to the bottom of the dress, slightly mermaid style and she was able to add a crinoline inbetween the two layers so it wouldn't be uncomfortable against my skin and it completely improved the look of the dress! I was so happy with that effect. It made me feel much more "bridal" than before and was an aspect of the dress I felt I was missing with the original style. Dora also made my veil, it was great to have her measure it perfectly, discuss options (we went super simple since the dress was so detailed) and it was perfect. Dora was so sweet, reasonably priced and timely with her alterations. We had almost 10 months in total to do all of the changes which was nice not to feel rushed, for both of us. I highly recommend her for simple to advanced alterations, she is just wonderful and I miss seeing her every few months! read more

When I first showed up at Dora's door with this wedding dress that need so much work I thought I had a vision of this dress in my head on how I need it to took. The dress was way to poofy and probably like 4x to small but I loved this dress. Dora took this dress and blew it way past my vision she turn my dress into something I loved. When I first put it on I was so sad it was such a pretty dress that didn't fit. But when I put the dress on at my last fitting I felt like Cinderella. I've never felt more beautiful. Of all the decisions that go into planning a wedding, Magic Alterations was easily one of the BEST choices I made! My wedding dress alterations were done very timely, at a fair price, and with extremely high quality and precision. I couldn't have felt more beautiful on my wedding day, wearing a dress that fit me perfectly, had the unique personal touches I asked for, and that was altered with immense care. By the time I wore it, it was a brand new, one-of-a-kind vintage dream dress. Dora did my alterations and did an INCREDIBLE job and was so personable. Words won't do it justice so I included before and after photos. My wedding was in December 2020, so it was planned on short notice due to COVID-19 and shifting plans. Magic Alterations worked with my needed timeline, and even made touch ups on-the-spot at my final fitting so that I could take my dress home that day. With the franticness of wedding planning, it was SUCH a gift to have peace knowing that my wedding dress was in great hands - Dora is so trustworthy! Details on the alterations: Dora said "You find a dress you like, and I'll make it perfect for you," and she absolutely blew me away! I got my dress at a second-hand boutique and had a vision for what I wanted it to be. The top was ivory alencone corded eyelash lace, and the bottom was silk chiffon, with a satin slip. Dora brought my vision to life and made it better than I imagined! Changes include: Changed the lace top from a high halter neckline to a deep V, and added lace to the edges so that it blended in seamlessly; re-did the cap sleeves to be more comfortable; added a lace trim to the waistline; made the A-line waist fit my figure perfectly; shortened it; added a clear strap across the back to make it feel more snug; added a zipper and redesigned the inner satin slip to match the outer layer's new shape; flared out the skirt to give more shape. Dora is a magician! I brought her my wedding gown that I wanted remodeled, and she nailed it! It had a sheer panel between the bust that I wanted sewn shut, beaded off the shoulder straps that I wanted sewn to the top to create a strapless dress, a hem, and a bustle. In the process of converting the dress to strapless, we had an issue with support in the bust, so Dora hand beaded straps to match. You'd never know they didn't come with the dress! I just brought a few shirts here to get tailored, expecting decent but not fantastic work and was pleasantly surprised when they turned out really fantastic. I did not have the same experience as others. I was referred to Dora from a friend of mine. I brought her a bridesmaid dress and the bust area needed to be brought in a little and my criss cross straps that had hooks needed the hooks moved up/shortened. While I was there we decided if I wore 3 1/2 inch heels and the dress was altered in other ways we discussed the dress wouldn't have to be shortened. We added cups as well. I paid $90 for the dress and she told me the day I brought it that those alterations we discussed would be $50 ($25 for cups and $25 for alters)so I was happy with that and left my dress with her. I called two weeks before and was given a date she would text me for pickup and never heard. Called again and given another date and never heard from her. Called the week of the wedding and finally was given a date and time to pickup. When I got there the bust was not taken in and the straps were not only still too big but for some reason she sewed the straps in so I could barley get my head through to get the dress on. So I realize now it being days away from the wedding I'm not even going to mention the bust being too big still (seemed like it wasn't taken in at all) but I ask if she could adjust the straps but with the clips not sewed in because I wouldn't be able to get my head through plus we never discussed sewing them in. She asks me to come back in an hour. Mind you I have my daughter with me and I live 40 mins away so I'm like "okay I will sit in the car". She ends up doing it really fast and when she calls me to go back in the dress is bagged (so no trying it on again)...and she says "okay your total is $105"...I was confused and said "you told me $50." And she said "well I shortened it, and did the other adjustments we discussed and added the cups so it's $105 but if I told you $50 it's fine give me whatever I guess." We specifically spoke about me getting 3 1/2 inch heels so we didn't shorten it so that's what i went and got so I was confused. I ended up giving her $100 and walking out. I had other dresses for wedding I was standing up in this year and will NOT be brining them here. I think the "cherry on top" of it all was the day of the wedding when I put the dress on another bridesmaid was clipping my straps in and says "your straps are twisted because it looks like the hooks were put on backwards". read more

I brought 2 suits 1 for myself and my 15 year old son. Mine were small tweaks but his suit needdd a little more work. She Steamed my dress and since the wedding I was in was not for another month told me that I could go back and she could steam it for me again if I needed.
