Experience as just ok in getting a wedding dressed altered. I have a very simple wedding dress that really need minimal alternations but I was talked into a lot of add-ons. My mom ended up agreeing to them, so that's fine. First appointment for fitting, Hannah clearly forgot about my dress as nothing was altered. To make it worse, there was no communication about it and her excuse was that this was the busy season for her. When I went to the last fitting, she pressed by dress for an extra fee of $125 that was never discussed. I didn't need the dress pressed and I was going to travel, so the dress was going to get wrinkled again. Overall very average experience. With a busy work schedule, I didn't have the bandwidth to find a new tailor. Would not return future alterations. read more

She took my off the rack wedding gown that was 10 sizes too big for me and magnificently made it fit me like a glove without losing any of the intricate detailing of the dress. My dress had 9 layers of tool which she also beautifully hemmed and took in. I was so nervous about the lace detailing and if it would look the same after the alterations but Hannah did such gorgeous work. You would never know that the dress had been so drastically altered. I would give 0 stars if possible. My fiancé's dress was butchered. 2 weeks from the wedding, the dress was supposed to be finished and it was completely screwed up. The waist was way higher than what was asked for, and multiple other alterations were way off. For the price you pay at this place, it should be done exactly as asked for by the customer. If I could rate Hannah a six star, I would. She is very polite and very fair. Her tailoring skills are "second to none". I brought in two wedding dresses, one to be tailed from full to three quarter length and the other to have the sleeves altered. The second dress required removing all of the flowers in order to alter, then meticulously sewing the flowers back on. I looked at the near final product and it is just beautiful. My husband and I just went to Italy to celebrate our two year anniversary and I finally pulled the trigger of having my wedding dress altered to rewear. She really worked with the lace up the back and shoulders to make sure it fit just right. The neckline originally gave me a rash with the way it was made so tight where it hit my collar bone, she fixed it and it looks and feels so much better now. Scheduled an appointment for a wedding dress fitting and this woman was INCREDIBLY rude. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. Gave me 30 minutes and then said she had another appointment. I had to ask her to help me into my wedding dress. Asked me where I bought it. Was extremely judgmental. Told me there were no re-try's. Once she altered it, it would be done and good to go. Kept bringing up that she does miss USA and miss Illinois.....ok? I'm not sure what that has to do with altering a wedding dress but kudos to you. Asked her about taking in the waist and she said "too much work. don't lose any more weight". By the end of it I asked her when I could have it done and she said she was going on vacation and didn't have time to complete it. Would HIGHLY recommend going to another place. Brought my BHLDN wedding dress in per recommendation of BHLDN Chicago. At the consultation the dress fit perfectly. They recommended the zipper be reinforced and the dress pressed. I picked up my pressed dress today and got home to find this random bead sewn on the front of the dress. A week before my wedding. It isn't even a seed bead....! I am heartbroken. If you're in the Chicagoland area, I suggest going elsewhere for your wedding dress alterations. Update: I wouldn't waste my time writing and posting this review with an intent to defame your business if I didn't have a bad experience! I drove a half hour away to this cleaner's per recommendation of BHLDN Chicago themselves. When I dropped it off, no orange bead was on it. When I picked it up, giant orange bead need sewn on. I figured it was a poor attempt to fix a mistake during steaming or zipper reinforcement. There was a pack of beads on the tag as well with plenty of replacement beads. This place is phenomenal. I worked with Hannah to get my BHLDN bodysuit and skirt altered for my wedding. The top I had was intricate lace, and Hannah worked with it perfectly to fit my body like a glove. She REALLY knows what she is doing. Hannah also had great suggestions that added to the comfort and general flow of the dress, like adding hooks around my waist to keep the skirt high and in place, as well as trimming parts of my multi-layered skirt to make it flow while still being practical for dancing/generally moving around. Hannah is an absolute angel!!!!! I had my fair share of ups and downs with my wedding dress (had to get a new one 3 months before my wedding during covid, ah!) I was terrified to give my dress to anyone in fear something would go wrong again. The 2nd dress needed A LOT of work. It was a few sizes too big, needed reconstruction in the bust, sleeve lining removed + resized, buttons replaced, and to top it off the entire back was sheer. Hannah worked so diligently making sure it would fit perfectly. And it did! Tailored to perfection. She's tailors precisely to your body, and her years of dedication to the craft make her the definition of "miracle worker". My 2nd dress couldn't have worked without Hannah. She also worked on my mom's dress which needed an equal amount of attention. She took a dress with intricate lace detail that was swimming at floor length, and reconstructed it perfectly to T-length with a scalloped edge. I understand why people travel far and wide to come here. Small but mighty, I cannot recommend Brookdale enough. Brides, you can sleep easy knowing your dress is in Hannah's hands. read more

This time I am a bridesmaid and not the bride. My dress was a little snug when I brought it in. The first visit was to see what needed to be done. After the second visit only one minor thing was needed. I missed my third appointment due to work, but when I showed up a week later, my dress was pressed and ready to go. While Hannah was gracious enough to agree to do my daughter's wedding dress and my mother of the bride dress, it was not the fairytale ending that I we expected considering the cost of the alterations. Looking at the pictures of my daughter's dress before and after, the line of the back of the dress had entirely changed. It was much higher than it was originally and I did not have the heart to tell my daughter. It still looked good, but that was one of the main reasons she bought the dress. She did do a lot of other alterations (hemming multiple layers, moving lace, replacing zipper, etc.), but the straps were also shortened and let out a couple of times, but they were made a little too tight the last time around. Unfortunately, one strap snapped off before the bridal party was even introduced. She still looked amazing for the ceremony, but for the cost, it was just a lot to take in. Sadly, I could not wear my designer mother of the bride dress that was quite expensive. I had the sleeves added and they just were not put on to my liking. The sleeve was just tucked under the shoulder of the dress so the lace at the sholder overlapped and you could visibly see it - like little wings. I just figured I would have to live with that. When I picked up the dress two days before the wedding, I had asked about a seam running across the front in a weird spot across my ribs and I was told I just had to pull the lining down. I tried it on again when I got home and it certainly was not the lining that needed to be adjusted. It was a thick seam that should have been at my waist that was raised to under my bust and went across my rib cage because she brought the length up from the shoulders and it modified the whole dynamic and fit of the dress - plus the seam ran on an angle. You could clearly see it through the lace and I did not have time to have it fixed. I even checked the designer's website and there is no visible seam on any of the colors of the dresses that ran across the ribs. I had a back up dress, but it wasn't what I wanted for her special day and I spent A LOT of money on alterations on a dress that I could not comfortably wear. During the whole experience we felt like we were inconveniencing her because all she kept reminding us at every visit was that our dresses were big big jobs, they are taking so much time and how time-consumming they were to alter. It made us feel uncomfortable - like we were a problem - but she had agreed to do it. All in, I am not doubting her talents as she has evidence of her work everywhere in the shop and she did do a lot of work on my daughter's dress, but I feel in this situation, she particularly rushed through my dress and I have now wasted over $1k on a formal gown that will never be worn. read more

I first went to Hanna for a bridesmaids dress for my friend's wedding- I needed help styling some sashes on it and also needed it taken in and hemmed, she did fantastic!! She did such a good job that I ended up taking my own wedding dress to her for alterations!! I can not thank Hanna enough for what an amazing job she did on my dress!! I'll be honest, it's hard to pay $180 for alterations and still give a place 5 stars but it's what it deserves. I have the "honor" to be in a few weddings this year and I came here with a mess of a dress. It could zip, but it didn't look right, too much room in the cups, tight in the back and hips, long strap, just not good. These ladies completely re hauled my dress. They used one of the linings to add panels on each side then took in the cups and shortened the strap. They basically took it apart and put Humpty back together again. I also appreciated how they took their time and gave me a minimum of two fittings. If I needed anything else, I'm sure they would have been happy to do it. I brought the dress in before their New Year break, but they were still able to get it done a little over a month. I have another Bridesmaids dress that I will be bringing here as well and hopefully will cost me less. read more
