I take both my kids to this dental office and I'm always treated so well. The wait time is not bad at all. The office is clean. The staff is very friendly. I had an insurance issue that they didn't even have to get involved but Dulce was kind enough stay on the line and help me figure it out. Erika did my kids cleaning and she was super nice to the kiddos, answering all their questions and even let my daughter see how she did her job and how it all works. And Tracy at the front desk was very accommodating when scheduling my next appointments. Just over all a great experience because of the staff. Thanks ladies. read more

i truly truly used to love this place but they do cheap fillings and they give you procedures you don't really need as a money grab, they took my boyfriend he needed a root canal and destroyed his tooth to where it's completely broken in half. they said he needs bone grafts that he doesn't need it's all ridiculous and money grabbing which sucks because i was taking my whole family there and i won't do it again. even the cavities they filled for me left me in so much pain and they tried to fill two "cavities" that another dentist said weren't even there. how sad the quality of care to destroy peoples mouths for money. read more

The dentist who does extractions and speaks Spanish should check his attitude and not be aggressive. Many people go here in hopes for good care and great service. None of that was received today. Sure their work could be alright but the customer service and the way he spoke to us was unprofessional. I don't care what the reasoning was. Getting any extraction will hurt and people will get anxiety. Be more empathetic and patient. This guy didn't care that my sister was nervous and spoke very rudely to my mother. Unfortunately, it is not possible to leave 0 star review. In 2023, they did not have enough personal as in 2024. I went there on time, and I waited 50 minutes until I reminded them, went inside to get xrays, they told me to wait one more time, they called into the room and I wanted another 20 minutes to tell me that they were not able to do my cleaning and I needed to make another appointment. The old dentist who I imagine owns the practice told me that I have 9 cavities & needed a root canal, but instead of talking to me about what that means & helping me understand my oral health, he gave me an in depth lecture about how Health Net rips people off paying doctors pennies & straight Medi-cal is the way to go. Even told me straight out that my teeth aren't the biggest problem here, my insurance is. I'm not exaggerating those were his exact words. I'm naive so I got convinced into changing my insurance & waiting 3 weeks for the root canal (new insurance only kicks in next month, you know). In the meantime, I developed an insanely painful tooth infection. Feels like it's affecting more than one tooth now too and I'm worried the problem may have spread. Then the light bulb hit. This place only wants your money. If you're willing to push my care off & risk my getting infected and/or the infection spreading, just to get paid more, you're not the office for me. read more

The dentist told me I needed two root canals on teeth that don't even hurt! I had a filling come out a couple days ago and needed a new filling. (turns out MD doesn't do fillings. What dentist doesn't do fillings??). They refused to give me any paperwork, and as I was leaving he told me I needed a second root canal. He saw from my chart that the last time I was in his office this particular tooth was in pain - when he asked this time I said it was fine. He forgot that he referred me to a different dentist for the filling - BTW, while I was at the other dentist I got another filling on a tooth that MD said, at the time, I had to get a root canal! I reminded him I got a filling and the tooth was currently seemingly perfectly fine. On my way back home I got a VM saying that he examined the x-ray and the tooth was actually fine - doesn't need a root canal or a filling! So unless you're a big fan of root canals I would not go to these guys. read more

Doctor Hakakian's knowledge, care, attention to detail and diligence makes the whole experience so smooth and effortless. I should have wrote this. Review a long time ago. I am an office manager for a dental office so I am pretty picky about where to take my daughter for her dental needs. I decided to bring my daughter to Magic dental for 2 reasons. 1- it's super close to my home and the most important reason was I was very impressed on our first visit with there level of professionalism and how clean the office is. I started my daughters ortho over a year ago and I am very happy with her results so far. The doctor And staff are beyond nice and professional. I do not recommend this doctor to any parents. Don't harm your children, physically or psychologically, with his torturous procedures. I had an appointment for my 3-year-old daughter. The doctor was supposed to pull out one tooth. 15 minutes beforehand, the nurse gave her some medicine to put her to sleep, but before she was asleep the doctor started operating. When I asked him to wait until she was asleep, he said no we couldn't wait any more and that he couldn't give her more medicine. He then told me to lie her down and pin down her hands and feet. He said he did this with a thousand kids a year and that I shouldn't worry; then he started torturing my toddler. The doctor said it would take 10 minutes, but she was screaming for 30 minutes while he tortured her. He ended up pulling out two teeth, not just one, I suspect because he gets reimbursed by Medicaid for each tooth he extracts. This doctor is not professional and does not protect his patients from any unwanted or harmful treatment. After eight days my daughter still has bruises and wounds on her mouth and lips, and also has undergone a mental change. She can't sleep from night, and she has been having tantrums and behaving angrily since that dentist visit. I am heartbroken that I took her to such an unprofessional dentist. As I am new to this country, I didn't know how unprofessional a dentist could be. Please try and do some research before visiting a dentist for your kids. read more

Horrible costumer service, rude/sarcastic employees, and a huge waste of time and energy in general

Do yourself a huge favor by staying away from this place. Even though the staff are nice, the So called Doctor John is a liar and a con artist. He will lie to you like there is no tomorrow. We started visiting this place about to years ago. First visit he told my wife and I that everything was ok, but it was the second time he got us. He told me and my wife that you guys have there cavities each, and that we need get them filled as soon as possible. We believed him and we did. Then, about 4 months ago, he told me that I got a cracked tooth and need a crown immediately or my tooth will break into pieces. It has been 4 months, since, and my tooth is perfectly fine!!! So around couple months ago, I took my soon for a regular checkup/cleaning. This time he told me that my son has 3 cavities and need to get them filled as soon as possible because there is a high risk of infection. So I made an appointment to do that. Then, I was like why each time everyone has 3 cavities? So I decided to take my son to a different dentist to make sure he is not lying. After x-Ray and checkup, the new dentist told me that there is nothing wrong with my son's teeth. In fact, he said that his teeth are in excellent shape. It is not only immoral, it is also criminal to cheat people by using his professional credentials. I will report Magic dental to the Better Business Bureau as well. Update 6/20/2017 It has been more than a year and my son's teeth are perfectly fine. Also, my tooth hasn't been shattered yet!!!! read more

I haven't been here in a while but I wanted to check what the rating to this place were because about 8 years ago my parents took me here and they had strapped me down with a straitjacket from head to toe and I could not move anything and I had felt like I couldn't breathe and they did not care at all. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST! Other dentists will take your insurance. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I went in there to have a bridge fixed. I had a beautiful smile. Big bright smile that everyone complimented me on. I needed the bridge replaced, of my upper 6 front teeth.The replacement bridge was made with so much smallker teeth, that my upper teeth are no longer visable. As he was making the mold, the nurse said " doctor" and he replied, oh dont worry, he has as many grey hairs as i do" It won't matter. When the new bridge was cemented in, I left the office in tears. When I complained, he told me he would only see me after hours. When i came in, he showed me a mold, that wasnt mine, implying that he did the best he could. I've had to do two dentists since and both agreed they had never seen anything like it. So now im brokenhearted and spending thousands of dollars to try to fix it. THERE ARE LOTS OF DENTISTS! DO NOT GO HERE! I HAVE NO ULTERIOR MOTIVE AND HAVE NEVER EVER WRITTEN A REVIEW LIKE THIS. I'm also reporting him to the state board and will not stop. read more

I had a painful cavity and dentists usually make me nervous but Dr. John was extremely calm and he put me at ease as well. Dr John Foroutan is the best dentist I've ever been to. Very professional and trustworthy, his staff is all around excellent as well.

They were very prompt about my appointment so I didn't have to wait. The staff was extremely courteous. Dr. Foroutan was very patient, explained everything on my X-ray. I generally have an adverse reaction to sedatives and he calmly waited for it to pass and helped me relax. He was very quick and the process was over very fast. Please please please make sure to get a second opinion before coming here. First of all, the dentist Mr.Faroutuan speaks to you condescendingly, and sarcastically as if you are too illiterate to understand dental "lingo". I went in for a consultation to request worK done, and because he was an assigned dentist from insurance. The only pleasant experience was the x ray technician. Fast forward, I was quoted $800.00 to have a deep clean done, including my insurance portion, and this was the first of many procedures I "apparently" needed to have. I literally walked to my car , sat in the parking lot of this Magic Dental office, and called my insurance to change my dental office. I switched to NORTHRIDGE DENTAL OFFICE, where I was immediately convinced I made the right decision. Dr. Satareh was amazing. She had me hold a mirror and explained everything going on in my mouth and what options I have to correct my issues. Mind you I am paying for all of my work done in one lump sum so kindness and compassion gets the bread. And the best part. The same exact deep clean I need is only costing me $80.00 at my new dental group. I already have 2 more appointments scheduled to start on my corrections. This place is horrible. And the Latino dentist there is really rude. My daughter has braces that she got done when we lived in Mexico. We moved to the U.S a few months back and needed to get them checked. Well the girl cleaning my daughters teeth was very nice and friendly and made us feel comfortable she suggested we tell the dentist that my daughters braces were a little loose and that maybe he could adjust them. When she proceeded to call the dentist into the room, he came in and didn't even look at us this time, but as she continued to tell him that my daughter needed her braces adjusted; his response was "I can't do that she's not my patient (uh why are we here then?! Smh) and just walked away with no other suggestions or care in the world. Every question I had they just would make me feel like I was asking a stupid question while they smart and responded like if I was slow or something. Very rude, won't even come here again! Staff was friendly when I arrived, and I didn't wait long. They took x rays and cleaned my teeth and sent me on my way. I did notice the room wasn't cleaned very well. Kind of grossed me out. It looked like the equipment needed a good wipe down and good scrubbing on the floors. But I watched them use clean utensils for my mouth that's what I cared about lol. But the dentist was nice and staff was friendly. Overall it was better than some places I've been in out here. Definitely a lot lower budget than the dentists in Wisconsin (where I'm from) but for being in California seemed like it was better than most. I brought my 15 year old here as well didn't have any issues. read more

Where to begin. So I came in with my friend for her appointment. The girl in the front was really nice and sweet. However the fat tall girl next to her was nonstop gossiping with the other worker across from her. I think she may be in charge of the financial stuff she was in a tiny little room I'm guessing is her office. She was really short and fat also and gave the dirtiest looks. As my friend walked in I can hear them talking about her. And the manager who everyone was calling Rick basically ate her up with his eyes. He's a dirty pig and every time she would walk to the bathroom it's like he would have to watch her walk by. The Dr is useless. He has no sense of care for patients, and then while waiting in the room my friend and I were discussing voting and he said trump is definitely gonna win. And it's like ok you don't need to tell us this. We told him we are not trump supporters and then The dr said that he wouldn't be able to to the treatment there so he sent her to another office. So because of our political views is this why he can't see her? While waiting for the info on the other office the big girl in the front was AGAIN talking about patients and gossiping. The bathroom was dirty and there's a lady that just stood next to the drinking fountain that stares non stop. The people here are creeps. The girls here are fake and need to look in the mirror before they continue to judge every single patient that walks in. They have no respect and seems like they hate their jobs cause they were also talking bad about the Dr. Foroutan and his wife. Clearly they aren't quiet if me and my friend could here all of their gossip. We left and definitely won't be back. My friend felt violated and disrespected. I will never be coming back here. I have never felt so rushed and not taken care of in my entire life by a dentist. Honestly, I am not even sure who the dentist was because I was seen by 4 different people. The X-ray technician didn't ask if I was pregnant but rather just pointed to the sign on the wall that said of I was pregnant to notify the X-ray tech. I was told I had no cavities and that the tooth pain I felt meant I had no other choice but to go to a specialist and have a root canal done. Shockingly enough, I was rudely cut off after I said I can see the cavity in my tooth and I do not want a root canal, to the one man saying that that was my only choice besides a tooth extraction. After pointing out to this man that I can see the hole in my tooth he kept telling me it was an old filling that had been discolored. I kept saying no it is not that it is behind that. He wouldn't even look in my mouth. Once that fiasco was over the man who cleaned my teeth did it literally in less than 5 minutes and on my way out I was pulling shredded floss out of my teeth along with left over food particles from my lunch earlier that day. I went to another dentist shortly after, guess what? I have a cavity. And I do not need a root canal. read more

Let me start by saying that all the staff there is nice and professional. The only person that is not professional and has no customer service skills is the DENTIST!!! Dr. John Foroutan. First off This place is called" Magic Dental" so you would think its specialty is dealing with kids! I brought my 5 year to get fillings and some teeth pulled. They tied her up which I was fine with that since I know its for her own safety. Then Dr. Foroutan begins to work and naturally my daughter starts crying because the injection hurts her. So as soon as she starts crying this so called dentist starts screaming at her. He yelled "HEY YOU STOP CRYING, OR IM GOING TO MAKE THE STRAPS TIGHTER!!'' He then looked at me and said, "I scream at the kids to scare them so they don't move." I told him "YOU WILL NOT YELL AT MY DAUGHTER, IF YOU THINK THAT YOU NEED TO YELL AT MY KID TO KEEP HER CALM, I WILL TAKE HER OUT OF HERE AND GO!!! THERE ARE TWO WAYS OF DOING THINGS YOUR WAY AND THE RIGHT WAY!!! the only reason he didn't continue to scream at her was because i was there and because I told him I'll leave. This so called Dentist always yells at little kids that cry in order to make them fear him so they can stay still. He told me himself. He's been doing it this way for 30 years!!! I don't know how parents let this man do this. There's other dentist out there that are patient and know how to keep kids calm without creating fear. I will never go back there again and I hope my review helpS another parent stay away from this place if THEY're thinking of taking their children there.
