I went to get a haircut with my son. Initially I wanted to watch my son first to make sure that he gets the haircut that he wants, but the ladies told me I should get it at the same time so it will be faster. I'm glad I got my mine done same time as there were more walk-ins customers came in. Love that both ladies were patiently cut our hair and didn't felt rushed; and both of us were happy with it. Amy was careless on my hair, when I got done it looked like nothing was changed. Also my hoodie was super wet and I had to go home like that. The service I got was harsh and not very gentle. But my sister got great service from another barber there. read more

I came here for a trim and was very pleased with the outcome. I showed a gentleman a picture of what I wanted and let him now to only cut about an inch. Service was fast and friendly. It was $25, which is a reasonable price in comparison to other places that overcharge. I will be coming again :) read more

I got violated.. I told this dude with tattoos to trim a little off the top and showed him a picture of a fringe and the sides for a drop fade telling him to leave the front alone and at maximum eyebrow length. He was not compliant and told me he had to cut the sides bald based on the picture.. I told him not to but he still did. I held in my anger as he shaved my sides bald and cut my fringe out of existence revealing my slightly receding hairline, then he had the audacity to say that the monster he had created matched the images that I showed him. I came here for the first time about two years back with my cousins who needed a haircut. I honestly couldn't understand why they would needed to drive from Oakland to all the way out here just for one. As soon as they were finished, they pressured me into getting one and I was amazed at the great work that May had done on my hair. I loved it! Went back to my old barber a few times afterwards back in Oakland and it just wasn't the same. :( Now every time I go back, I also go for a facial from Mandy. Wonderful job getting rid of my blackheads and I would just instantly fall asleep. Sure My face stays red for about two days, but hey, its a facial and I have terrible acne. They are all wonderful and friendly. Definitely a good experience each and every time. Just make sure to call first to schedule an appointment for the facial. Mae does it again. I've been coming here for years! She's the only woman that will see a photo of what you want your hair to look like, and make it happen. It may take longer than you expect, but the lady is busy! She runs this joint and so you may be passed back and forth between someone that washes your hair, someone else that gives you a hair treatment and then the lovely and efficient Mae that kicks ass and will make *sure* you leave looking 150% better than how you showed up! read more

I saw the sign showing women hair is $22 or up, so I decided to give it a try. I asked the lady how much will be for my hair. She answered me $22, which makes sense to me because I don't have very long hair. I had about 10 cm longer than my shoulders. I wanted to cut it shorter like the hair touching my shoulder. After it was done, when I paid, they change the price to $25 without any notice and permission. I paid anyways, but I don't like business doing shady things like that. read more

This use to be my favorite hair salon been here for 5 years with my usual stylist. Sadly when I went to get a perm this time she was unavailable with no explanation even though I called and asked for her. With reluctance I decided to just do my perm bc I dint want to back Usually the perm is $120 but for some reason they charged me about $135 this time which I don't mind much until I saw the final results! The curls that they gave me were my curls wayyy to small and kinda looked like an Afro even though I asked for a larger curl size For 3 days I was upset bc my hair was a frizzy mess and was unable to do anything to make it less of a mess A week after my initial perm my hair actually looked ok ( no to curly / frizzy) 3 weeks after my perm my hair looked almost flat (my original hair style) Can't believe I spend $135 dollars for a 1 month perm a waste of money! They said it last for at least 6 month total bull shit! The worst thing was they lied to me about the whereabouts of my stylist! I ran in to my usual stylist a few days ago and she told me she no longer works there and that the people working there are no good! ( meaning they are not good at their job ) After I told her what had happen she offers to help me with the perm at her new location and she was kind enough to do it the way I wanted by asking me how big I wanted my curls and taking extra time to make sure they were done correctly! Unlike at this location that quirted the chemicals in my face and made no effort to talk to me bc I did not speech their language! Don't come to this place a total ripoff ever since the old stylists left ( sadly I don't know the second lady's name only my usual stylist) Also the worker there care more about their looks then the customers I was shocked to see that the lady that helped me was actually doing her hair the entire time she was helping me wtf !!! read more

I did a walk-in on a Sunday afternoon. There were no customers at that time so thank goodness I didn't have to wait. I was really hesitant at first because I hate getting my hair cut and was unsure about this place, but a waitress at a restaurant that I'm close to recommended this salon. I just needed to trim/cut my hair, at least 3 inches off. The hair stylist who cut my hair was named Amy. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she started cutting. I also requested my hair length to be at the top of my breasts. She listened and granted my wish! The hair cut came out perfectly, and layered. I showed him a photo of what i would like my hair to look like although he didn't get the perfect look he didn't left me with a bad one either.. Magic Design is a great family-friendly neighborhood place. Our family goes once a month as does our extended family. We always seek out Simon who not only does a wonderful job as a stylist, but is also very good with children and very personable. He's always got a smile. He's very efficient, too, which is great when you're trying to squeeze hair cuts amidst other commitments.
