The Friday evening show was part of a surprise gift. Didn't know what to expect but was impressed with the performance. You can tell the magician has years of experience, understands the history, and practices to perfect each and every trick. He is a magician's magician. They have a larger theater for the family shows that I'll check out one day when I bring out of town guests to this museum and show. Took my 8 and 11 yr old to the Saturday night stage show. Made reservations online a week ahead and got front row seats. They had an absolute blast, their mouths were hanging open. Incredible magic from wonderfully engaging performers! I have seen John Magic's stage show twice and his close-up show perhaps a half-dozen times. It's that good, and he changes it up constantly. As an amateur magician myself, I am in awe of the quality of Mr. Magic's routines and performances; he takes on really challenging illusions and makes them appear effortless. Other members of his lovely family also appear onstage and off; they are always warm and welcoming. This is my absolute favorite venue for out of town guests. Unless you're from New York, L.A., or Vegas, you just don't get to see magic at this level. Bravo to John Magic and family for consistently superlative entertainment! read more

We were planning a quick weekend getaway to Austin with our 8 year old daughter and made reservations for the Saturday night show at Magic's Theater. Highlight of our trip!! Upon arrival, Mrs. Magic warmly greeted us in the museum and walked us through quite a collection of cool memorabilia and photos of great magicians (and one escape artist), both past and present. She spoke of her magician husband, John Magic, and his commitment to and passion for all things magic. Very good information and really added meaning to the evening's show. Mr. John Magic was nothing short of impressive. He delivered a solid performance, including history and humor. My daughter was mesmerized, my husband was impressed, and I was bewildered. We purchased a couple of tricks to take home with us after the show. My daughter has been perfecting her showmanship skills the last two days. I highly recommend this magic show to locals and out-of-towners alike. It was a great night! read more

I was amazed at how entertaining it was for everyone, it's pretty rare for us to find something we all enjoy. The magic was fantastic I have never seen a show up close, and found myself wondering more than once "how did he do that" . Everyone was so nice and you could tell they love what the do. I enjoyed this amazing magic show so much. It was kind of a gamble as I took my houseguest there without knowing much about it. The performer is so adept and the show so polished. I am still, much later, wondering and wondering HOW these tricks can possibly work. Magic is much more amazing when you are right there to view the impossible and can't imagine how the tricks are done. The performer is a retired gentleman who has been learning and performing magic since he was 20 but has now set up this museum and theatre. The show is professional and great with good music and good trick variety. Highly recommended. The museum items are very interesting also, but the show -- which lasts slightly more than an hour which is the perfect length for a show of this nature -- is the big attraction. We went to the Friday night close up show. We were warmly greeted at the door by John's wife and had time to look at all the memorabilia. John was talking with all the patrons. The show itself was terrific. The Friday night show is in a small and intimate theater--close up slight of hand that will leave you scratching your head!! The show was about an hour and 45 min. Afterward we didn't feel rushed to leave and John came back out and told stories and answered questions. Like his show, he is very personable and has led an interesting life. We plan to come back for the Saturday show in the larger theater to see some illusions. Highly recommend!! read more

John and his wife are fantastic! From the time you walk in until the time you leave they make you feel right at home. We did the Friday night close up show as a date night. They have museum to explore before the show so get there early. John walked around with us talkingkng about and explaining all of the items. It's obvious he knows his stuff and magic is a passion. He even opened up the big theater, which holds a hundred people, to show us where the Saturday night show happens. Finally it was 8 o'clock and we were shown to the smalll, close up magic room. I would guess it holds 25 or so, but we were two of seven guests that evening. We were all literally on top of the table. And to our surprise and delight we were amazed by every trick. From cards to dice and balls in cups, John is truly gifted in his craft. He was informative, engaging , funny, and best of all amazing at his magic. And since magic is why you go, that's a plus. We look forward to doing the Saturday night stage magic show soon, but we will definitely be back for the close up. In my opinion Magic's theater is not only a hidden gem, but a must do! read more

We came for my mom's 88th birthday with our family and we had a blast!! The illusion magic show was much more professional than expected , covid spacing, every seat had an up close view and was very well done! Other points adding to a special evening were the involvement of the entire family in their magic show as well as their statement of faith. PERFECT for every age. Instead of taking your family out to dinner go here instead, type will get more bang for your buck. My mom raved over the show, my teenagers loved the show, the college kids loved the show and all the parents did too! The history museum of magic was also great. It's also BYOB so you are not getting nickeled and dimed for drinks or ticket-master fees. If you live anywhere around Austin you need to go! Next time we will go to the other show offered of up close magic show. The theater rooms are like beautiful works of art.
