Never again! I had two pairs of jeans I needed shortened and for them to take the leg seams in a bit, because they were too baggy in the butt. When I got the pants back, it seemed like they did a good job (hence the two stars). I thought I heard the guy say $40, and I thought that was an okay price, even though both pants needed exactly the same alterations. When I got home, I saw that the credit receipt said $140!! $140 to shorten and take in two pairs of jeans?? Are they kidding me?? I think they want to soak a customer once, not caring that they'll never come back. I don't know how they would ever get repeat business when they're ripping off their customers so completely. read more

Tina and her mom (proprietors) treat us like family, and have created miraculous magic with clothes we thought were headed for the trash. There's no strange odor to the clothing as with some dry cleaners. None. New to the neighborhood, and a yelp deal to find a dry cleaner = too good to be true. Damn right! Coupon is $20 for $40 of dry-cleaning. My bill was $90, for 4 sweaters and 2 blouses. I had two hooks sewn in the blues. They charged me $10 each blouse and then an additional $9.50 to dry-clean the blouse. What a scam. When I questioned her on the prices, she informed me that this is Marin County and we are expected to pay more - First and last time at that establishment. How disgusting read more

This place was super fast. I had an emergency and flew in from LA for a wedding. Dropped off my suit at 4ish and picked it up the following morning at about 10 am. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because I dropped my suit off with some nice wood hangers that came with my Hugo boss suite and I get back some shitty wire hangers. This is my first time having my dry cleaning done here and I will NEVER go back!! I had one white coat and one white dress. They both came back FULL of lint plus my white jacket, that was barely dirty to begin with, now has a stain on it. Soft yellowish stain. I paid good money and i expect good cleaning. I asked them to please roll the items. I came back few minutes later and handed me my clothes I saw that they had barely gotten the lint off and had not even touch the inside with that roller. I told them flat out I'm disappointed. Wanted my $ back for The coat. They said there is nothing they can do but to clean it again. Really??? I have to come back, pay more in gas, give you more of my time?? No, thank you. I will NEVER go back and I will NEVER recommend anyone to go there. read more

I have to shout out for Magnificent Cleaners at 977 Grand in downtown San Rafael (near overpass). My favorite (and only leather jacket) got food smeared/ caked on it in a crowded cocktail event (as it was protectively draped over my arm - no idea how it happened!) Panicked, I tried a leather cleaner I had under the sink which didn't work and possibly made if worse. I thought it was ruined and couldn't deal with taking it to a cleaner for a couple of weeks fearing the worst. When I brought it to my cleaners they gave me a sour look and shook their heads. In fact, several cleaners confirmed the worst, especially because it's leather that is dyed red which can come off or fade. A customer at one place overheard me asking and recommended Magnificent saying they worked a miracle on leather cleaning for her. Sure enough, very friendly and without concern, the lady at Magnificent Cleaners took my jacket and told me to come back in two weeks, no problem. Two weeks later, leather cleaned, no damage ... and she gave me the best price ($45). Def my new go-to cleaner :-) read more

This is the best Dry Cleaners in San Rafael. Tina and her staff really care about their customers and always provide excellent service. They've done an excellent job dry cleaning some difficult items for me in the past and most recently tailored a shirt for me. I received a shirt which I really liked but was too wide to wear, luckily Magnificent Cleaners did a great side-in hem for me and now the shirt fits perfectly! Lazy, incompetent people who cannot follow simple directions. Twice. I have always asked for NO CREASE in pants. Because it's not the 90s anymore. Pretty simple. NO CREASE. The first time they put a crease in the pants, they offered to re-iron them to take the crease out. This didn't really fix the problem, as the pants now have a permanent line down the front of each leg that no amount of washing/dry cleaning/ironing will take out. That pair of pants is now used only for yardwork. So I asked them to put in their computer to NEVER IRON A CREASE IN THE PANTS. And I verbally remind them EVERY time I go in. So what happens? Today I picked up my dry cleaning and guess what? There are creases ironed into the pants. WTF? They're unwearable. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. So annoyed. read more

I am finally getting around to reviewing this place, sometimes the good things pass but the bad experiences linger. I have used this cleaner for years and been very happy. But every 10 years or so I dumb out and leave a pin or brooch on a jacket. Generally these are never seen again. But this time I left 2 pins on garments. I decided to try a local dry cleaner instead of trekking to my usual eco-dry cleaner in the City. So, I gave them two chances. The first time, I had them hem three pants and had 19 items dry cleaned. My bill was over $250. The second time, I gave them 12 items, no special alterations and they charged me ($175+). Sure, they are nice and they do a good job but the cleaners in the City are just as good and half the price. Needless to say, I am going back.... read more
