This company is a joke. We have a salt water pool and they never put salt in, they treated it like a fresh water pool even though I've told them on a number of occasions that we do NOT have a fresh water pool. They constantly send emails for services that aren't needed, they want to replace filters ever year rather than cleaning them out. Bills are sent on the due date not in advance of the due date like 99.99% of the rest of the businesses in the US. These people seem to be completely brain dead and don't care at all about their customers. read more

Magnolia Pool and Spa is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I had them service my pool heater because I had a capacitor blow out. The technician upon arrival was immediately trying to sell me a new heater. Claiming mine needed to be replaced even though it is less than 7 years old. When he replaced the capacitor (which they charged more than double retail price for) he wired it incorrectly sending high voltage through the unit and causing it to immediately shut down due to overheating. So he again told me the unit needed to be replaced. I had another company look at it and that technician said the way Magnolia Pool and Spa's technician wired it would cause my heater to burn up quickly. He rewired the capacitor and the unit began working normally. I called Magnolia Pool and Spa's office and said I wanted a refund for the service call and the overcharge on the capacitor and I was told they do not give refunds. So I filed a chargeback with my credit card company and the dispute was settled in my favor. Now Magnolia Pool and Spa is not only trying to collect the money they lost in dispute they are also trying to collect the chargeback fee. I've now been contacted by A.R.M. Solutions - Debt Collector in an effort to collect money they lost in the dispute and the number to call is back to Magnolia Pool and Spa. What a coincidence. When I talked to their office again they said losing the dispute does not mean they won't still try to collect the money. When I went over the details of the case again and said after having to hire another company to fix the mess your technician created, you losing the dispute case, and you literally being caught trying to destroy my heating unit you still intend to try to collect and the woman said yes. This company could not be more blatantly unethical and fraudulent if they tried. read more

Really horrible company. I hired last week of November to start servicing pool in December. then two full monthly charges were made to my credit card for Nov and Dec. When I called to ask why I was charged for Nov when they didn't begin working for me until Dec, rude office manager said because I had called on a day in November even though they didn't start that month, so I was charged for the full month ("...and we don't pro rate"). Even worse, after 5 weeks they still have not gotten my chemistry correct. they always report "pH is 8.0." While even that's a bit high, I was suspicious that each week they got the exact same number, so I went out and purchased my own to test water myself. Lo and behold, it registered off the scale alkalinity. The next day, when Magnolia came out again, and reported 8.0 as usual, I showed technician my own result, at which point he admitted his test kit goes no higher than 8.0. So, all those weeks my pool could have been at a pH of 8.4, 9.0 or even higher! My tile now feels like sandpaper---is that scale? Run, run, run--hire some professionals who know what they are doing and who bill properly. read more

OMG what a terrible pool company. Used them for 2 years giving them chance after chance (silly me!). They stopped adding salt to our SALT water pool. Eventually our salt levels went down from 3,200ppm to ZERO! Of course, our salt cell stopped producing cholrine once the salt levels got low. So the clowns at Magnolia just dumped gallons of chlorine in our pool instead of adding salt. Terrible customer service when you dare call in to complain. Fake, obnoxious lady speaks over-politely deliberately but doesn't listen or take any responsibility. Instead, lame excuses and sarcasm. Do not recommend Magnolia to anyone. RUN!!! The primary reason for this review is due to their lack of doing the right thing during a "Natural Disaster". Milton hit and destroyed our pool equipment, emptied the majority of water in our pool while leaving debris in the pool. The road to our house was closed due to the amount of trees, debris, and muck left in the roadway. Magnolia Pools still wanted to charge us for servicing our pool while 1. they couldn't get to our house 2. there was nothing to service. When we called them out on this, they argued with us that it wasn't their fault they couldn't get to our house and still wanted to charge us for work that couldn't and wasn't performed. After filing a complaint with our credit card company and having their charge reversed, Four months later, Magnolia has turned us over to a collection company. UNBELIEVABLE!!! We built with Stock and Magnolia was the vendor's choice for pool service. We had to sign on with them initially and kept them for 3 years. We wish we would have changed sooner. The only reason we stayed was because the weekly pool cleaner, Nicholas, was really good. Very detailed and showed up consistently to do a good job. When you read the other reviews on here, the same thing happened to us: - we didn't trust them when they said we had a problem with the pool or equipment. We always got a second opinion, and if it was indeed an issue that had to be fixed, many times the other company's bid was way lower. They also failed to tell us that parts were still under warranty, which we had to proactively ask about, which was pretty unethical. - they charged us $75 to come out and give a repair estimate, others on here said $150 which is outrageous! I understand a small trip charge, but that's a bit ridiculous - the office personnel were usually very grumpy, short and rude to work with. - Pentair, our pool manufacture, wouldn't work with them to get warranty items fixed. This was obviously a red flag. - when we cancelled service, we had yet to get our weekly cleaning done. Nicholas was in front of our house when we cancelled, he instead got on his phone, and drove off. Obviously the office got in touch with him to tell him to not clean our pool that week. Very unprofessional. Overall, we wouldn't recommend them. read more

Magnolia Pool and Spa is an expensive pool cleaning service with low quality service. After several months of sub-standard performance, I have cancelled Magnolia's service. During Magnolia's most recent scheduled service, the Magnolia employee turned off my pool pump to clean the pool filter and did not resecure the filter housing cap. He did not restart the pump prior to leaving. When I noticed the pump was off, I restarted the pump and went back about my day. About 15 minutes later, I noticed the pool level had fallen about 8 inches. The filter housing cover had come off and water was pumping directly on my side yard, flooding it. Additionally, the return filter basket was left out, and the spa was not cleaned. I called Magnolia to voice my concern and was told by the Magnolia customer service rep that she would speak to the service manager and I would receive a call back. The call never came. Finally, the next morning someone from Magnolia came out. Of course, by this time, I had returned everything back to operational status, including refilling the pool on my dime. The Magnolia employees were very indifferent to my situation and offered no compensation for the shoddy service or Magnolia caused inconveniences. Buyer beware!! read more

Magnolia pool service said I had a leak in a pipe at the pumping station. They said that they needed to send a service tech out in order to give me a quote to fix it. I could not find a leak. The cost of obtaining a proposal was $150, to which I objected by finally agreed. The tech came out. I insisted on being there when the tech arrived. The tech said he could not find a leak. I had the distinct feeling that if I had not been present, they would have written a proposal to fix a leak. It strikes me that they make up a problem in order to create billings. I requested Magnolia to credit my charge card since there was no leak and no proposal was issued. They refused to give me a credit. I subsequently cancel my service. Very disappointing. read more

Worst pool company I have ever dealt with. Chronic miscommunication or no communication. They will show up unannounced. Multiple attempts to remove algae and calcium residue on the water line glass tile which would not have gotten to the condition it was in if they actually performed the complete maintenance service that they charged for. Previous owner who used them also had issues. They have now permanently discolored the tile grout due to multiple attempts and multiple types of chemicals, which still have not been revealed, and there is still missed areas of tile. Very unprofessional and will cop an attitude when called out. read more

My pool pump stopped working while I was out of town. Called Magnolia 1st thing Monday morning they couldn't come out same day but by Tuesday morning had Dave here, a quote soon after by email and call about half hour later. Pool pump was reasonably repaired before noon same Tuesday. Service cleaned too. Pool is looking great and open for family to enjoy! read more

RUN!!! RUN RUN!!!! This pool company is EXTREMELY unprofessional and RUDE. THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU!!! AND THEY ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY!!!! 3 MONTHS AS OUR POOL COMPANY AND $3,000+ LATER AND OUR POOL HAS BEEN GREEN MORE THAN IT'S BEEN BLUE! We had just moved into a new house and were in need of a pool company to come and maintain our pool. We hired them back in February to keep our pool blue. At that time we even got a FULL drainage and refilling to add fresh water, acid wash, etc. LOTS OF $$$! Our pool stayed blue for a couple of weeks until it became green again. Alex, "one of their best techs" would come every week to a GREEN pool and would leave our pool GREEN every week. Next week would come, STILL GREEN. He comes, doesn't do sh*t about our green pool he is supposed to be keeping blue! (I mean come on isn't that your job??????) He, I assume never notified the company about our green pool and how every week it was green, and if he was this company did not care. THIS COMPANY DIDN'T HAVE THE DECENCY TO HOP ON THE PHONE TO LET US KNOW ANYTHING! They did nothing about it. We got so fed up as the weeks went on, $3,000+ later, having to look a GREEN pool every day, not being able to swim in it, We had to get on the phone to call them in which we were told we'll have somebody come by to assess and treat the pool. Two men came by and did exactly what ALEX should've been doing to avoid this from happening and in days, it was beautiful again. Since then it's green and still no reason or notice why. Today, somebody came by after not coming for weeks. He looked pissed, annoyed and confused. We asked him straight up what is up and he said he's new and that he "doesn't know what to tell us". He said even if he could do something he can't because he doesn't have the right equipment for it. He even said the company is unprofessional and that it's really unacceptable for a pool to look like this REGARDLESS! I just spoke to the front desk lady to figure out why they are literally scamming us! Making our pool turn green to turn around and quote us all this money to fix it. To ask why Alex has been coming every week and is okay leaving when our pool is green. And I shortly realized all she wanted was our money. All she cared about was our money. She said she has been sending our invoices which we weren't receiving any because they have the wrong email on file! She couldn't even have the decency to hop on the phone to call us about what's going on. Alex couldn't come knock on the door to let us know what's going on. Instead they were negligent and unprofessional. He would come and leave every week and they would do nothing about it. She started blaming us and even told me that the tech came today and wasn't even supposed to which just confirms that there's poor communication throughout this pool company. The whole call was about money. All she cared about was the money and hung the phone up on me. I'm extremely disappointed with this company. Magnolia Pools allowed my pool chemistry to get so far out of balance that algae made the pool unusable, and then sent me a proposal for $155 to get rid of the algae. The good news is that they have competent competitors to take over from here. read more

Magnolia service is awful! I have a pool heater that stopped working. Called service department and the woman there said they would be out Friday. Friday came and went without a call or anything. I called Magnolia Monday and they seemed confused about who I was. So I went thru the process again and they couldn't get anyone out until later in the week. No one showed again! Called them again and finally got someone to come out. Turns out to be a flue sensor and they can't do anything becuz they don't have a gas license. So now they have passed me off to another company with a gas license and they can't come out for a week. I am going to be 3 weeks without the heater assuming they show. Worst part is the attitude Magnolia employees have taken with me. They could care less about solving my issue! They are interested in basically passing the buck. This is the worst customer service I have experienced in a long time. Don't go with this company it is bad. read more

They started off excellent...I even recommended them to a friend of mine in another subdivision. The person that services our pool including chemicals came today. I noticed the pool looked a little off this evening. I took a brand new test strip this evening and everything, Ph, chlorine, alkalinity and stabilizer were so low they didn't match a color on chemical strip.
