Came here with my son after recently moving to Tucker. let me start with the good and then ill explain my one qualm. Customer service was excellent. Everyone that worked there greeted us and was so friendly. The baked lemon pepper chicken, yeast rolls, sirloin steak patties and Mac and cheese were delicious. I love all the floral/magnolia decor. The sweet potato pie was really yummy. The only qualm I have is that EVERY single vegetable item has pork in it. EVERYTHING. I know we're in the south, but I haven't eaten pork since the late 90s so it just truly never occurred to the that would be the case in 2026. I likely won't go back for a full meal because of this, because I don't want to get just meat and carbs. It was also a little pricey. $50 for 2 meals and a slice of pie. The service that was given to us by Taneisha Williams on our trip to Magnolia Room Cafeteria on Saturday, April 25th. was outstanding. She greeted me as I walked in and asked me if I needed any assistance. I told her that I had reserved a room for my guests that were coming at 2:00pm. When the room became available she assisted me in getting the room cleaned and ready for my guests. She was a great help! She was kind and patience with all of our needs. Also, Ms. Sheena was absolutely great as well. The reservation process was easy and she was pleasant through the entire process! The food was delicious! The bathrooms were cleaned! OTP but on the east side of town in the general vicinity of Northlake Mall near downtown Tucker. It's located in a strip center with plenty of parking and easy access for handicapped if needed. Cafeteria style where you go in and stand in line with a school lunch tray. Desserts first, of course, and a plethora to choose from. All delicious looking, red, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, chess pie, hot apple dumplings... just to name a few. I went with good old fashioned coconut pie. Then you get to salads. Again, wide variety and not just lettuce. Waldorf, peas, carrot and raisin, great variety there too. Next, you get to meats. I got the pork chop with mashed potatoes and gravy. Added green beans and squash to round out my "Meat and Three " plate. My friend got a vegetable plate with yams, carrots, roasted potatoes (that she said were delicious and could have eaten more of) and green beans. Then you get to bread that they try their best to force on you (in a good way) but I politely declined, twice. They give you a ticket and you go seat yourself in their spacious dining room. A server brought us lemon, took our trays and checked back occasionally to refill waters. Food was plentiful and delicious. Service behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. Service in the dining room was okay, but I think there was only one server for the whole space so we just figured that's why she was slow in getting back to us to refill waters. She was pleasant but I think spread thin. You pay as you leave. At first blush it seems expensive. Mine was about $20 and my friend's was about $14 but when we thought about it, it's not a typical fast food place you usually go to for lunch. I don't think I've had an entree or side I haven't liked - all with that home cooked taste - though their cornbread can be a bit dry depending on the day. The main reason I knock a star off is for the prices lately. I feel like they've gradually creeped up as many places have. We placed an online order for 12pm the following day. It was Mother's Day 2025. The parking lot was extremely full with lots of families walking in to eat celebrate with their moms. My husband walked in to get our order. It was ready and waiting on us. We had ordered two entrees, one vegetable plate and 3 pieces of pie. We took the food to Griffin to celebrate with our mother. Yesterday, August 2, was NOT good. The pork chops were tough;sent them back. The turkey wings were tough--not good. Stop pressure cooking the food. I cooked them in the oven tonight myself. Very different result. Turkey not rubbery. The dressing was UNDERCOOKED; three of us got sick. The key to excellent soul food cooking is TIME. By the way, ALL of the veggies are seasoned with pork. At minimum, one vegetable should be cooked with turkey or no meat at all. To have to choose two starches with the meal, is disappointing. Do better Magnolia. My aunt, you like buffets. Me, NOPE. Little kids lick the vegetables and put them back. They taste the nuggets and put them back. Those are the few Ive seen. My aunt laughed and said its not that type. It wasn't. I loved it. Not only was the food off the chain, the entire experience was amazing. Now, we went on Sunday so you should know the lines were long and worth the wait. I usually have photos but my food barely made it to the table. Lol. I had the catfish, Mouth watering. It was so good and perfectly fried. The variety of meats and entrees were unexpected. I had mustard greens, perfect If you know anything about greens anyone making mustards do it with love. I wasn't a fan of the cornbread as I don't like sweet cornbread. That's just a personal preference. The deviled eggs missed the mark for me as they were dry and absent of seasoning and flavor. As I was writing I had to deduct a star because I remembered the Mac and Cheese. I like more cheese with my noodles. It wasn't tasteless. This is cafeteria style, where you get your tray and the tell the servers which items you would like and they fix your plate for you. They are so freshly prepared and look so good. It's tempting to ask for a few options. But I decided on my options and went to find a seat. The dining room is cozy, yet adequate enough to fit large parties if necessary. What a find for relative newbies to the Atlanta area! Saturday evening before Mother's Day and plenty of parking, not super crowded, and the corner location hides plenty of space inside. Walk in to a smallish room and you're directed to the right and around the corner. That's where you're met with a looong line of trays filled with mouth watering food that makes your head spin with all the choices! Dayum did I just find food heaven?! In short, I could only eat so much and I feel like I didn't make a dent on the offerings. A main entree, 2 sided, bread, and a drink for us both was $41.90 tax included (tip is not! So be generous!). While the fried catfish was great, my smothered pork chop left a little to be desired. There were 2 in the tray where mine was served, with a full tray waiting next to it. While it tased great, it's a mystery to me why the pork chop itself was cool, I couldn't even say it was warm. Taste was good, and I'd get it again but this was the only less than stellar item in the entire meal, and that's saying something!! Green beans were divine, I had something that had eggplant, and while I'm not sure exactly what it was, I can't wait to go back and have more! Cabbage (cabbage?!) and sweet potato soufflé were equally delightful and worthy of going back just for those!! Service was fantastic from everyone on the serving line all the way through the dinning area and paying on your way out the door. We just heard about this Resturant last week and were anxious to try. It was amazing!! The meatloaf was the best I have had in years. The turnips were also off the charts. Most people would be surprised to learn that although Atlanta is in the south, there aren't a lot of great southern restaurants here (in my opinion). Yes, there are a lot of southern/soul food restaurants around. I just haven't had great experiences at many. Magnolia Room is located in Tucker which is in the metro Atlanta area. I was very impressed by my first visit. We were greeted with smiles by all of the staff that we encountered. The restaurant is set up cafeteria style and they have quite a few options. We arrived after the lunch rush and they weren't too busy. I ordered the Salisbury steak, candied yams and macaroni and cheese. I also added a piece of fried catfish. Y'all, there are definitely some grandmas in the back cooking because that food was delicious. I sampled my mom's collard greens and they were some of the best I've had in a long time. The catfish was fried perfectly and the yams were just right. Everything was seasoned very well except the Mac and cheese. It was good, but could've benefited from some extra seasoning. My mom, who is a great cook enjoyed her food as well. We had a great first experience and I'm looking forward to returning. read more

My wife and I head over to Magnolia Room Cafeteria about 6 times a year driving about 35 to 45 minutes to get there from Sandy Springs. Definitely worth the trip! This is our go to Southern Comfort Food establishment in the greater Atlanta area. Food is always fresh and nicely prepared. My wife usually goes for a 4 vegetable plate. Today is it was cabbage, green beans, squash, and lima beans, but with so many choices, it's always a little different each time. I had the Catfish which is lightly breaded and oh so delicious along with tasty tartar sauce. I started my lunch with a perfectly seasoned deviled egg, yum! My vegetables were green beans and creamed corn. This is, by far, the best creamed corn on the planet. Larger kernels and the cream base is not overwhelming, not to mention the amount of corn is generous. We do notice many other diners having the salads and desserts, which look fantastic when going down the line. Speaking of going down the line, the staff is conscientious in serving the food. We recognize many of them speaking to the longevity and loyalty of these staff members. The servers who take care of you when you are seated are always attentive making sure your water/tea glasses remain full and if you need anything. You can tell many of the diners are regulars also speaking to this place being special. Parking is easy. Finally, get there a little before traditional lunch time so your wait is minimized. Drove down from Knoxville to try Magnolia Room because I fondly remember true old school cafeterias from my childhood and they are largely now extinct. Tried the country steak, mashed potatoes, baked macaroni and cheese. All were delicious, high quality and generous portions. The hot yeast roll seemed freshly made but was too bitter for my taste but improved with a hefty dose of the real butter they provided. Prices are high, but, they are everywhere. The Magnolia Room in Tucker is worth the drive! this down home southern cafeteria serves up fresh vegetables, plenty of entrées to choose from and everything that your mama used to cook! I was very excited to try this place. My husband was introduced to this cafeteria by a friend, and in his words this was the second best southern food place he had ever eaten at (second only to someone's actual home cooking.) We waited for my in-laws to visit as my MIL is a big fan of soul food. From the get go, I wasn't thrilled with how the system is set up. There is a line to a cafeteria style counter, where you tell the servers what you want. As busy as it gets, this line is not well policed. When I walked in with my family during the lunch rush, the line was practically out the door. Outside of the handrails, the line was not well managed and a lot of line jumping occurred, which is super annoying to the people who have been waiting patiently. I was really disappointed In the food that I picked, as was my father in law. I felt like nothing tasted good. The only reason I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1 star is because my husband and mother in law loved the food they picked out (the fish and the fried chicken). My MIL was very disgusted by her peach cobbler however as it had a very doughy crust. The service was good and the staff was very nice and helpful, since most of us were first timers who didn't know what was going on.
