My wife and I worked with Lani G. to plan the floral arrangements for our fall wedding in the Berkshires. We didn't have a lot of preconceived notions, so we turned Lani loose with a couple color recommendations and a desire to use local in-season flowers whenever possible. To make a long story short, we were pretty much blown away with the end result, which included some really creative options including a variety of coxcomb colors and some small peppers (yes, peppers!) as part of the boutonnieres -- all huge hits. Lani even handled a couple curve balls with aplomb, including going to great lengths to source some alternate flowers after the Berkshires got an unexpected deluge of rain that affected availability. All in all, we can't recommend Gillooly & Co. enough -- they made for excellent partners and were integral to pulling off what lots of our friends and relatives say was one of the best weddings they'd been to.

We arrived at 2:00 en route to Music Mountain for a concert to see if our room was ready. It was not. OK, we returned at 8:00PM and it took two people more than 15 minutes to check me in. The young man had said earlier that we have the room with the porch, as you requested. I did not request a porch. When the checking in process was nearly completed, it was made clear that our room was on the ground floor. I said that I definitely did not want to stay on the ground floor and asked if there was a room on the second floor. I do not think that the young man fully understood me as he showed me a floor plan with our room number (as evidence of a porch) and I repeated that we did not want a room on the 1st floor, but we were very tired and I gave up and took the key. The entrance to the room is on the corner of the porch - with windows on two sides. I was thinking about how anyone walking on the porch would definitely wake us up. The room itself was SAD. There were curtain rods, but no curtains, just blinds. The lighting was grim. There were three pillows in the king sized bed and the spare pillow in the closet was a queen. At 8:30 AM a staff member began using a leaf blower on the porch. So, we got out of bed, got dressed and left. Deeply disappointed. Never again. Two stars are for a clean bathroom.

It is very spacious venue that can accommodate a large party. It was a working barn that had been converted to a wedding venue. It is pretty much bare bones. On the first floor, It has one male bathroom and a female bathroom with two small stalls. There is also one large handicapped bathroom. There is one groomsmen suite with few couches and chairs and tables. There is also a bridal suite in a converted shed right next to the main barn that has two sinks, a couch, a table, and few chairs. The second floor is where the indoor ceremony and reception takes place. There is ample space outside for an outdoor wedding as well. The one downside to this venue is that it is a barn that doesn't have any heating. It was May and it was 50F inside the barn. You can never really predict the weather. It also had very few couches or chairs so be prepared to bring your own. Unfortunately it was raining the day of so we brought everything from the bridal suite to the handicapped bathroom so the bride and the party could get ready. We had to move it all again into the groomsmen suite because we couldn't occupy the handicapped restroom. The sink in the handicapped restroom was leaking. They tried to tinker with it but it was not fixed. There was also not enough garbage bags and the garbage cans were way too small. So also make sure to bring your own garbage bags. Also the bathrooms have a composting toilets and so it naturally smelled. The running water is full of sulfur and so it naturally smelled like eggs. The two bathrooms were the only areas that were heated. It was a working barn before so there are some areas of the first floor that smelled like horses still. The valet parking provided by the venue are just attendants that point and direct the guests to were they should park. Also keep in mind that the roads will get insanely muddy when it does rain. All in all, the venue does provide amazing pictures and photo ops. I'm sure it would be a lot warmer in the summer. And it does provide a venue that allows customization of all aspects of the wedding. If you are someone that wants to have complete customization of your wedding then definitely check this place out.

As beautiful as the barn and views are of The Hill, is how fantastic the staff who runs the property is. Lisa is helpful, kind and super flexible. They allowed us the freedom to hand pick all our vendors, visit almost anytime we liked, answered all our questions promptly and decorate how ever we wanted. Our friends and family are still talking about how unique and fun our wedding was because of the location! We felt extremely comfortable planning our wedding at The Hill, there was no restriction on time we could come the day of or what we could do with the space. We could not have asked for a better venue for the kind of personalized wedding we wanted! The views are gorgeous, the barn is amazing, the staff are stupendous! I ended up propping a dining chair against the door for the one night I was there and praying that being in the middle of nowhere would protect me as well. The room itself was visibly clean with *incredibly* old fixtures and appliances. In many places the managers had chosen to paint over things rather than replace. I don't mind if things are old, but if you move or look behind the furniture (which I really should not have done) there was a world of dust bunnies and old dessicated spider webs. Unfortunately when I put my head down to sleep, I could see into the gap behind the kitchen cabinets and it was AWFUL. It seemed no one had cleaned back there in years. It was hard for me to fall asleep after that, and at that point in the night, I had no where else to go. I only stayed here because my AirBnB reservation fell through and when I called in, I was able to reserve the same day over the phone. I appreciate that they were able to accomodate me last minute, hence the two stars rather than one. There was also confusion about the actual reservation, which I was surprised by. This misunderstanding could have been my error but I don't think so. I wish that management would have been clearer in their communication with me over the telephone when I made the reservation and kinder with me in their communications over email after I checked out. Either way, I don't recommend staying here.

Okay, it's not the Ritz Carlton, but it was comfortable. Our one "complaint" was the shower water regulator was stuck and my husband ended up with a cold shower. I was able to turn the regulator (but afraid I was going to break it) and had a normal shower. All in all, I would recommend the Becket Motel if you don't care about "fancy".
