The venue is beautiful, well appointed and very tasteful. The service people the day I went, which was Saturday for lunch, were excellent also very polite and attentive. The food was abysmal. I took my mother there for a lunch, we had no hard liquor drinks just 2 lassies and three main courses. The food was totally uninspiring, the grilled meat that I received was half cold and the other half unseasoned. I cannot stress enough how disappointed I was with this restaurant. If you don't care about the quality of your food or the authenticity of your food or the taste of your food and just want a nice place to take photographs for your Instagram feed then by all means go to this place. If you actually care about the food, you eat and taste then go somewhere else.

Came by for dinner. Service was pleasant, ambiance semi-formal diner like and food was refreshing. We enjoyed menu items that aren't not typically found at restaurants, such as the keema appetizer and the fish curry served in a clay pot. Appreciate the quality and flavor profile of the dishes served.

Came here for Mother's Day and I was pleasantly surprised. The food, the service, and the ambiance is perfect! The manager personally came by and talked to us, made us feel welcome. 10/10, would come back here again and again!

I am forever looking for Indian cuisine that is authentic and not overrun with heavy dishes that are missing that special something. Two weeks ago I took my dining group to Mahal in Roslyn and was impressed with a lot of what this newbie venue has to offer. The Grows: There was no one at the bar nor at the entryway to greet us, so we all stood around waiting to see if we should just walk into the dining area or wait. I poked my head into the main dining area and he happily led us to our table. It was a weeknight so I don't think they were staffed too heavily (and rightfully so). Three of us (out of 6 people) ordered the garlic naan. All three servings were placed in the same basket--we are not family and don't live in the same household and some of us were not comfortable with communal baskets of individual orders. The Glows: Palak paneer is my litmus test at any Indian restaurant. Mahal knocked it out of the ball park. It was the most authentic tasting and had more heat than most places offer--WHICH I LOVED! I ordered the vegetable samosas which were served as a trio of light, tasty and satisfying samosas. I ate one and savored every bite (the other 2 were my lunch the following day!). Instead of basmati rice, I tried their lemon rice. Hands down a game changer. The rice was fluffy. The cashews adorning the top were lightly toasted. The lemon infused flavor was fresh and daring without being overpowering. Portions were generous so I had leftovers of those two items as well. This is a venue that has a very convenient location as it is equidistant from the LIE and Northern State entrances. There is parking on-site. The prices were moderate but comparable to the quality and quantity offered for each item. Highly recommend.

1,000,000% amazing. Get here now. The restaurant is beautiful, professional, and the food is all perfect. Really perfect. Unlike any Indian you've had. Top quality. Top preparation. Top presentation. Definitely pricey, but differentiated You will be pleased for sure - assuming they keep up the good work like we experienced tonight on Wed Jan., 26th. Restaurant was crowded, reservations are recommended. They seemed to have a few glitches, nothing too concerning. The bar didn't have change. And the POS register went down when we were about to pay. They had to recalculate a few things we had already ordered - no biggie. And the manager (unnecessarily) apologized for the delay. Food is all amazing, see the pics! A few nice touches: - come in, sit down, enjoy the dining room for a few minutes. Ask for a menu when you are ready - they aren't offered immediately which I appreciated. - Tableware, bussing, silverware, and crumbing! between each course.

My husband and I have been living in the area about 1.5 years now and FINALLY we have found our go-to Indian restaurant. Everything was delicious and the staff was very attentive and kind, even giving us a complementary rice pudding for dessert!

Food was good. Service was OK. You will pay a high price for Indian food and I was not happy they charged me $25 for a casamigos tequila.

I was so happy to hear that they opened another restaurant in Glen Cove! Plenty of street parking is available, and they even have a shared parking lot in back of the restaurant! I parked in the back, and entered the restaurant via the backdoor! Note that there are stairs at the back entrance, so if you can't do stairs, it's best to park in front of the restaurant. This Glen Cove locations is lovely; beautiful murals and great vibes. I was shocked and sad to see it so empty on a Saturday evening! I hope more people give this place a chance because the food and service is great! This was our Shared Menu (plenty for 2ppl, and we had leftovers): -- Water Buffalo Momos w.Chili Sauce (8pcs/$18): the Momos were tasty; the meat was very lean. I would skip the Chili sauce next time. I didn't like the sweet and sour taste of the sauce, so next time I'd like to try the steamed Momos with Johl sauce instead. -- Choila Roti "Not a Taco" with Jackfruit (2pcs/$12): Not a Taco but similar to a taco. This was delicious and I'd get this again. We choice the Jackfruit version but they also have a chicken version. -- Masala Wings (Sauteed wet version) (4pcs/$11): I remember really liking the wings when I was at the Ridgewood location but couldn't recall which wings we had. On this visit, we had the wet version which was good but I realized that I like their dry version better. -- Grilled Lamb Chops w.Timur Sauce, Veggies & white rice (2pcs/$25): Surprisingly, this was my least fave dish of the night. I normally love lamb chops but these chops didn't really have a nice seared taste to them. The texture was a little off for me. Also, it was very boney with not much meat. I would try another entree next time. All in all, a good meal! I found the large selection of appetizers more interesting than the entrees, and would have been happy just sharing a bunch of appetizers and small plates. Customer service was welcoming and friendly! It was a pleasure to chat with the owner. Nice addition to the neighborhood!

Everything we ordered was immaculate and delicious. Since this place was envisioned more as a hangout space, the portions are shareable so that you can drink and chat with friends. It was the perfect size for us. Our favorites were the masala wings and the momos. Those wings were so crispy and cooked to perfection. If we were local I'm sure this would become our go-to spot.

Either way, I was nervous they wouldn't have a good meal. But I held my breath and hoped that the reviews I'd read beforehand were accurate. For the most part, they were. The garlic naan was incredible. My parents went silent when they first tried it, then quietly maneuvered the basket toward themselves while leaving rice for the rest of us. The chana masala and chicken tikka masala were also spot on - rich, saucy, and flavorful. Our salmon tandoori announced its own arrival to our table as big chunks of delicate meat on a sizzling platter. The larger pieces weren't completely cooked through, but we just let them sit on the hot flatware for a minute or two more. Spice babies, beware. We requested 'mild' as the spice level for all our orders because medications have changed my mom's sensitivity to spice. Even then, the heat crept invisibly onto her palate. "I don't know where it's coming from," she said, fanning her mouth. Even as a spice lover, I could detect there a thrum of baseline spice in most of our meals. You might want to temper the spice the way we did - by ordering a mango lassi. I've yet to meet a mango lassi I didn't like, Punjab's included. Here, they include a drizzle of something jammy along the sides of the glass. I didn't think it necessary (the lassi by itself is already fantastic!), but great for those who like their drinks sweet and photogenic. Inside, the restaurant space feels like what I'd call 'upscale casual'. It's nice - in fact, it's a lot nicer than a lot of Indian restaurants I've been in. But it's not the kind of 'nice' that makes you feel like you can't grab a meal here in your sweatpants. There's no dedicated parking lot, but there are a good number of spots along the nearby side streets (just pay attention to street signs that designate no parking days and times).

The grilled chicken tikka was not bad but what we didn't enjoy was the chicken biryani- it smelled & tasted funky, very spicy and came with a yogurt sauce to balance the spice- not worth $24 imo. There was absolutely nobody in the restaurant except one young lady in the front and one person in the kitchen. The young lady in front was really sweet and kind. I wanted to try something that was more authentic, so I asked her what she would eat. She recommended a specific chicken dish, and I ordered it prepared the way she would eat it, and requested very spicy. Here's what I ordered: - Chicken Karahi ($17): Recommended by the young lady named Suman! Of the two dishes I ordered, this was definitely the better dish. However, there were two issues: this dish wasn't spicy at all, even though I asked for very spicy. Also, the chicken came in big chunks, making the chicken itself very bland and not tender. Smaller pieces would have been seasoned more adequately, and this needed to be simmered for a longer time. (3/5) - Lamb Korma ($24): Not on their regular menu but they'll make it for you if asked. I've always loved this dish from other Indian restaurants, so ordered it at Luxe. Again, two issues: not spicy at all, even though I asked for very spicy, and the lamb came in huge chunks, was under seasoned, and wasn't simmered long enough; resulting in hard, huge chunks of meat. (2/5) Instead of rushing to cook these dishes, both dishes should have been simmered for a longer time. I don't mind waiting for excellent food. Rushed preparation doesn't do anyone any favors. Would I give Luxe another chance? Sure, why not. But I'll wait a little while so Luxe can overcome their growing pains; they've only been open for a few months.
