I ordered extra spicy -all white meat chicken curry. I called them to inform them how excellent and on the mark-that my chicken curry was. The white meat chicken I ordered was so tender; curry sauce EXACTLY how i wanted it... EXTRA spicy. i asked for extra sauce in my dish... and received it. i just wish they filled the rice up a bit more-i do notice its not fully packed to the top (the rice) in its container. If you're looking for authentic delicious Indian food in Long Island, I highly recommend you check out Kiran Palace. Everything is made fresh and we know this because we did modifications to the food and they didn't say no to a single modification. Everything came out nice and hot and the food was amazing! The restaurant feels more like a casual, old school Indian restaurant set up. It's great for big groups or even just a couple. They start us off with pappadum with 2 chutneys. The cilantro chutney was fresh and had a nice kick to it. The brown chutney was sweet but not overly sweet. For breads, they made us chili naan and wow there was so much chili in the naan - it was perfect for someone like me who loves spicy food. They also made us butter roti and onion kulcha. All the breads tasted really good - they were nice and soft and perfectly cooked. As our mains we got the dal makhani and paneer tikka masala. The paneer tikka masala felt authentic, finally the way a tikka masala should be made. It was the right amount of buttery but also had so much flavor in it. The sauce was more tomato based which also enhances the flavors. There was also so much paneer in it unlike other Indian restaurants where sometimes you struggle to find the protein. I have to make things right and share praise for this humble yet extraordinary family-owned Indian restaurant. Sometimes it's painful returning to places that hold memories for my me and my dad because they were places we'd go with my mother. Since she died almost four years ago, we've slowly been going back to some of these places. Dad wanted Indian recently and because I rarely get to eat it in New Orleans (it's not plentiful like it is on Long Island and Queens, sadly), I agreed, though I thought we'd be hitting up one of the many dosa spots in the area. Dad wanted to come to Kiran Palace. I remembered it when I walked in, but Dad said he and Mom would come here all the time. Without looking at my previous review, I felt drawn to the chana masala so I ordered it ("Indian hot") from our really sweet waiter. I also foolishly ordered mulligawtany soup, thinking it was lentil soup (that's how long it's been since I've had Indian food). When it arrived, I asked the waiter if it was the right soup and thankfully he kindly righted my wrong because mulligawtany is not only NOT lentil soup, but it is made with chicken. Daal. It was daal that I wanted and it's excellent here. And then the chana masala. I devoured it! Literally the best that I've ever had and I marveled over how such a simple, rustic dish could be so good. And then I read my previous review and how I much I preferred what my mother ordered that night... chana masala! It's decadently spicy and rich and just literally perfect. The owner came over to us and she remembered my father, asked where Mom was (that's always hard, but it's meaningful). Dad always feels amazed when owners remember him and I don't know, it could have been a sad moment but it really was just... nice. Have come here multiple times always for take out. I can't speak to the ambiance but the food is always fantastic. I got the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and keema naan. Both dishes came with rice and cooked very well. The sauce is everything and always enjoy it. I give it 4 stars for two reasons. First is when I went to pick up the food the gentleman refused to look me in the eye which I thought was odd. Perhaps he was distracted but made me question it on the way out and didn't make me feel like an appreciated patron. They are also on the higher end of pricing for dishes. We picked Kiran Palace for an impromptu date night and figured we'd try a new place. Kiran's Palace has been on our list for a while so it was time. We were worried that the restaurant would be crowded on a Saturday night but it wasn't a bad crowd at all. We were seated in about 5 minutes and given papar while we pursued the menu. A nearby table got a sizzling skillet of tandoori chicken, so of course we had to order a sizzling skillet of tandoor chicken. The chicken was delicious and hot. We also got samosa chaat, and I have to say it might be the best chaat I've had in a while. 5 stars on the chaat! Honey got saag paneer and I got paneer makhani. I'm not usually a saag fan, but this saag was amazing. It was warm and creamy and not overly spinach tasting. 5 stars on the saag! We had fresh naan and fresh rice, and the service was pretty solid. I'd definitely go back, but I'd stay away from the makhani. There's a lunch buffet, so that might be my next trip there. read more

Even with the time for delivery and even when we reheated them the next day the samosas were delicious, crunchy shell and lightly spicy stuffing. We also had palak paneer - very tasty. The chicken tikka masala was more spicy than expected but good. The lamb vindaloo was ok, I expected more spice but the meat was tender. Overall, it was a delicious meal. Priced right at $7.95 for lunch with fresh Naan and a nice selection of your basic Indian staples featuring Tandoori chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Rogan josh and other vegetarian assortments, salads and desserts. On the negative the lids covering the food are made out of brass and you need to manual hook the lids in place at each station to get your food, then proceed to unhook and put the lid back over the food, as silly as this may sound it's an extra step that is annoying, but you look past this because the food is good and the price is right! The service is poor, yes I know, It's a buffet, but the removal of our finished plates from our tables were done in two speeds, slow and stopped. The waiter just forgot about us and we were forced to put our used plates at the empty table behind us, not once, not twice but several times. For 7.95 per head, their lunch buffet is pretty decent. Firstly, they don't have soup. Secondly, they do have a variety of dishes but nothing extra ordinary. Chicken tandoori, the appetizer was the best. Their chutneys were good too, the mint one and the tamarind one as well. Vegetarian was bad. Mutton curry seemed like it wasn't fresh. The tandoori chicken was moist, tender and delicious, the rice was seasoned to perfection, the palak paneer was some of the best I have ever had, the little samosas were the best samosas I have ever had, the rice pudding and Gajar Halva was fabulous and the aloo Gabi (that I was nervous about ordering) was fantastic! You are driving your customers away, you are not nice and it's time you brush up on customer service skills. She can't handle pressure but also wants to be there controlling everything. I will say, her son is excellent and he needs to take over. Outstanding food and service. I picked up the wrong order - and when I got home I realized I had another person's order. I called the restaurant and they were apologetic and delivered the food to me. Most restaurants do not want food back when there is an order mixup - we used the opportunity to sample some items that we would not have ordered. We had vegetable samosa, a chicken dish (spicy) and garlic naan. We ordered a few different chicken dishes - chicken tikka, tandoori chicken, a couple rice dishes and naan. The food was excellent - we ordered it mild and it was good for our group. I'll go back and order some items that I would have liked to order. Kiran Palace was one of my dad's favorite restaurants. Our server was attentive, and the owners checked in as we ate to see if we were enjoying our meals. I appreciated that touch. We loved the vegetable samosas. The crust was light and flaky, and the stuffing was spicy ad flavorful. Our vegetable pakoras were ok -- but I'd skip them next time and try something else. My wife had the paneer makhani and I ordered lamb rogan josh. Both came with basmati rice and were delicious! Our bread basket had 3 different selections... one tastier than the next. Popular Northern Indian Restaurant tucked back in a shopping plaza on the corner of Hicksville Rd. and Old Country Rd. Lunch offers a variety of everything... When I was there among two other tables who actually were of Indian descent pulled up a car of four young guys early 20s. Was very psyched when I heard this as I am still in search for a great Indian Restaurant. Takeout - well, I liked it but my husband didn't (can't go by that - not a Yelper and too judgemental). Excellent Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Pasanda. Perfectly flavored as I don't like it too spicy. The Samosas were ok but GREAT Tamarind sauce. You can't have a good Samosa without that Tamarind sauce. I guess the downfall with takeout is that the portions may not be as big as if eaten in and you can't return things if made incorrectly (unless of course you live close enough which I don't). In our order, the Chicken and Lamb dishes did not have much of each and the Onion and Paneer Bread was missing the cheese (either I couldn't understand her or she couldn't understand me when the order was placed - damn that LI accent!!). The flavor and quality of the food well made up for it though.
