We finally tried Mahal, 2 months after it opened in our neghbourhood. We were always sad not to have tried Sabor, which had been sold to Mahal's owners...
And it was, to our enjoyment, a very nice dinner !
The service was very friendly, although not overwhelming as in some American diners with waitresses smiling their cheekbones off. No, we found there a genuine will to serve and please.
The menu is very sober yet well structured and pleasant to read (it's one of my criteria when entering a restaurant :).
The mixed platter we had for starters was a beautiful patchwork of several meat and veggie dishes, all very tasty and tender, especialy the lamb chop.
For our mains, we could not have been better pleased: Lamb Pasanda consisted of tender meat pieces in a very rich, creamy sauce, perhaps a bit too sweet. The chicken Tikka Masala was also great, but lacked a bit of "punch", as a little more hotness would have done it justice.
No comments whatsoever for my dish, the Barwan Khadhi Murgh, a delicious piece of chicken breast with spices and dried onions.
The rice and naans were plentiful and very tasty as well.
I can only recommend this place, and will be back there soon ! read more
