I've always had trust issues with nail salons because it's hard for me to find a place that does good work on nails and places that won't hurt my skin and/or nails. Saw the good reviews on yelp here and needed my nails done so I decided to take a chance and book an appointment with Mahalo Nails and omg, best decision ever made!! Liam, my nail tech, did such an amazing job. I showed him some inspos and tell him what I wanted. He listened and made sure I liked my nails before moving on and he just wowed me! He was so nice and chill and made the whole experience awesome. The down fall was there was no free parking. It was either paid street parking or paid lot. This is like a factory little to no personal interaction. They pay more attention to their co-workers than the customer. Always chatting with one another with no interaction with customer except for a few grunts and nudges. I asked twice for more pointed form but still got rounded nails. Stylist apron was dirty before we started, her glasses were cloudy with spattered product; acrylic nail product bottles and other product bottles were loaded with product build up and rather nasty looking. When she used the Dremel drill she sprayed acrylic particles all over the work area and on me with no clean up. My nails looked okay but not professionally done. I can't see to recommend. read more

I have been coming here since I was 15. I am now 23. I would force my dad to drive 30 min from Rosemount all the way to Uptown every 2 weeks so I could come and get my nails done. I have only ever gotten acrylics at two other places and both times I was really disappointed. Mahalo is where it's at. They are almost always ready to seat me the second I get there. They're kind and friendly, even though I am not super talkative lol. The place itself is pretty and very clean. I have probably gotten my nails done by every single person that works there and think they are all amazing. I've always been a HUGE fan of different, over the top, fun nails and they deliver exactly what I'm looking for every time. I wash dishes and waitress for my job so my nails get a lottttt of work lol, and they usually last 3+ weeks if I don't go get them refilled. My charms hardly ever fall off either. Which is insane with the amount of stuff I have to do with my hands and how rough I am with them. If you bring them a photo, they can replicate it. The only things that are a slight downside is the price and I have to bring in my own charms sometimes to make sure they have them. I love this Salon. It's one of my favorite nail salons in the cities. Anytime I try to go somewhere else to save a couple dollars. It's never worth it in the end. Let's be for real, getting your nails done these days are pricy. It's located in uptown and all the nail technicians are pretty well versed. I've gone in there multiple times with what I think I want and always end up going with their recommendations. They even offer a card for you to come back and they'll fix your dip or gel for free if you have any chips(time is different) It's very clean and the decor and ambience is great. They usually have some top 40 music going on. With very comfortable seating. Somewhere to hang your purse! I've had their manicure(gel and dip) and pedicures. Both fantastic. They also have a wide range of stones, gels , colors so they should be able to cater to any design you want although it gets pricy. I let Lynn freestyle on my nails when I went in. But then I go in for a fill and they booked me with the girl I did not want. She charged me 100.00 because of the length, but then she filed down my nails shorter and still charged me. Then I asked for 10 diamonds, one on each nail. She puts them in and then said it would be 25 extra because they are Swarovski and they weren't. Plus my nails came out uneven. Booked 2 pedis for Saturday morning on Thursday as a birthday gift for myself. I've come to realize people change their hair and I change my nails. I like bright colors and if I get Acrylic nails, usually a Stiletto shape. I decided to check out Mahalo Nail on Sunday. I made an appt on Friday day to make sure I was able to get it. They were very easy to understand on the phone, and after looking at many pictures, I was super excited to try this place out! My favorite nail salon is in Richfield, MN. However, I now live in St. Paul. Richfield isn't ideal for me, Minneapolis, really isn't either, but that isn't going to stop me from trying new places. Eventually I will find one that is close with great service. I don't know the name of the Nail Tech, I had for my manicure and I have been kicking myself for not asking. My nails are on point and sharp as heck! He was spectacular! Each step, he would explain things to me, and then he would check-in making sure I was pleased. I also noticed after each file, he would check to make sure the nail he was working on was still at a sharp point. In the beginning of the process he measured finger by finger to make sure they were even, and compared the left and right hand. I was very happy about this manicure. I am thinking about next time, I will potentially get a design or something like that. Unless I chicken out. We'll see. Ca, is who did my pedicure, she is really nice, and I really enjoyed talking to her. Overall, I would definitely get my nails done here again, they are so friendly, and very good at their jobs. Seems they opened not too long ago and still working out kinks but too long and don't want to read? Unfriendly nail tech, bubbling manicures, and management who doesn't want to give refunds unless they see the bubbling manicures happen before their eyes for now :( Came in on a gloomy Saturday and found 3 nail techs and a huge beautiful space...empty. A lady was in the corner getting a pedicure in a beautiful chair but I wondered why such a beautiful place was so barren at peak manicure time? (Or at least in DC or NYC, Saturdays were pretttttty popular times). Regardless, my friend and I picked out our colors (amongst opi, Essie, and some other brands) and sat down next to each other. My friends lady seemed nice but wow, my girl seemed to just be annoyed and pissed off at the world or my nails. She was rough, picked my cuticles to where it hurt, and didn't really do a clean job, if that makes sense. She hardly filed down the nails and even though it was very uneven, she tried to tell me to wash my hands like she was done. I asked her to file them evenly and she "filed" then once more but eh, at this point I didn't even want to bother anymore with asking her to file again. She painted my nails, unevenly. Rushed through it. Sent me to get my nails dried and then called me over to get a top coat. Meanwhile, my friend, gets awesome treatment and her lady checks in on her and does the top coat by my friend. We pay our $17 dollars (not including tip) and leave tip at the counter as business is picking up. FAST FORWARD AN HOUR LATER- my friend and I look down at our nails and ALL the polish has bubbled! Do we drive back and pay for parking to get them redone or ask for a refund? We go back to show them and ask for a refund because we hardly have time for a new manicure and have a wedding to attend BUT they say no refunds and they can redo quickly. They quickly repaint our manicures and after drying, my friend gets up and hers has started to bubble again. :( We show them again and they just offer us cash back and we take it, leaving with our manicures stripped and naked. Sad to say but I wish we didn't bother going in because my nails would have at least been ok looking than the condition they were left in. Unfortunately there was no mahalo involved. So let me start off by saying that I don't even live in Minneapolis! I come here from New York because that's just how AMAZING they are! I'm a flight attendant so the first time I ever came here was during a layover. My nails were absolute trash and Tom revived it like a pro. I got a nude ombre acrylics done the first time, and I received compliments nearly every flight! And I kid you not, my acrylics lasted for a month before it started lifting! When I needed to get them filled, I couldn't find a work flight to come all day way to Minneapolis so I settled for a salon in New York with raving reviews. My nails lifted and broke in 2 weeks!!! So this morning, I got on a flight from LGA-MSP just to get my nails done from Tom and now waiting for my flight back to New York. Alright so I moved to Minnesota about three years ago in the summer of 2015. I've visited 4 nail shops since living here and have never been satisfied. So of course I decided to explore Yelp and try once again to find a nail salon I could at least tolerate. I found Mahalo nails and just from looking at the pictures decided to give it a try. I am BLOWN AWAY. My nails are so on point and the pedi was wonderful as well. My nail technician was Bee and did he work some magic or what. He was very detail oriented and made sure my nails were exactly what I wanted. The salon itself is clean and comfortable and the service was prompt and fast. I had made an appt on the same day for 12 and they had me seated on the dot. The owner was lingering around watching everyone's work. He seems to care about the quality of the nails and service. And to top it off I came in at 20 weeks pregnant and the massage during the pedi really was wonderful for those swollen ankles and feet. They had little water bottles, and Bee helped me adjust myself in the pedi massage chair due to my growing belly. In conclusion I felt well taken care of I had a great experience.
