Gel manicure at 3.5 weeks --still perfect!
    Cleo Z.

Several friends had been telling me to go to Nail Ninja for ages, but I wanted to try all the shops closer to my new house in St. Paul. Unfortunately they were all disappointing, and I could never find the elusive combination of a careful, relaxing mani/pedi that lasts more than a week--from someone who didn't seem to hate me. So, I decided to finally give Nail Ninja a try. First of all, Shaela is a gorgeous, magical goddess of nail artistry. Her Signature Pedicures are super relaxing and absolutely meticulous. She happily suggests tons of lovely colors I never would've considered otherwise. I've run out of adjectives to describe how much I love her work. If you feel like chatting, she has the best book/fashion/general life recommendations--and if you don't, she'll probably just put you to sleep. Oh, and Shaela's pedicures would last me 20 years, I swear. I just go anyway so I can see her and chill *way* out. Chris has given me the most consistently flawless manicures of my life. He takes the time to understand exactly what I want, and I've never *not* gotten compliments from strangers for his manicures. If you're a little wary of the higher prices at Nail Ninja, as I was, keep in mind that the artists are paid a livable wage with a benefits package. And it's not unusual to see training sessions going on at the next station. I don't think any of that is happening at very many nail salons in the Twin Cities, and I'm more than happy to pay a little extra to support all of it. And if that doesn't convince you, consider the fact that Nail Ninja artists are so skilled that I'm actually paying less than I was before because their mani/pedis last about twice as long as the ones I used to get. That's not an exaggeration; I'm including a pic of my 3.5-week-old gel manicure from Chris, and it's still perfect. While Chris and Shaela are my go-to artists, I've never had a bad experience with any artist here; the folks at Nail Ninja are all fantastic at what they do. Come for the "all are welcome here except assholes" vibes, and stay for the consummate mani/pedis. Take my money, Nail Ninja!

I've seen Kaitlin at Nail Ninja 3 times now and I've loved my manis more and more every time! When you book an appointment you can choose your nail artist (each has a slightly different pay scale depending on experience) and which type of mani or pedi you are looking for. I've gotten the simple nail art gel manicure each time I've gone and they've held up really well (2-2.5+ weeks!) Since the art can take a little longer, my appointments have typically lasted 1-1.5 hours so budget your time accordingly. Kaitlin's attention to detail is unmatched; I perpetually suffer from hangnails but my cuticles have stayed pristine and for the first time in my life I got a compliment from a stranger on my nail beds! Usually I come to her with an idea of what I want and we'll figure out the colors and final design together which I love. The inside of the salon is impeccably decorated, very eclectic and fun. I'm hooked!!

Was introduced to this fabulous salon by my favorite nail tech ever, Nika! I've been getting gel manicures for ten years now and have been to a lot of different salons and worked with many different nail artists. This is the coolest salon I've been to and Nika is the best nail artist that I've ever had! I give Nail Ninja a five star review thanks to the excellent experience I've had in coming to see Nika. (Check out the photos for proof!) I also have to give props to the owner for designing the salon in such a modern and fresh way-the salon is stunning. Thank you Nika & thank you Nail Ninja!

Natalia did a wonderful job on my nails. I wanted to try out Apres Gel X extensions after seeing pics posted of them online. The shop overall specializes in gel nails. The artist's all seem very talented which is a reason why I wanted to check it out! What I like about them is that the sizes/shapes are all ready to go so it makes it a lot easier to get the shape and length you want. I wanted to tried out a set of different nude color nails. I really loved how it turned out. The shop is super cute and clean. The atmosphere is very welcoming. It was my first time there and Natalia did exactly what I wanted to achieve with my nails! Best nail shop I have gone to in the Twin Cities. My nails lasted 3 weeks and probably would have last longer but I was lifting boxes and it slipped so the nails went bye bye. I can't wait to go back and get my nails done again!

    Nails right after being done

I went to Nail Ninja for the first time with an idea in mind based on a pillow I have (weird, I know ). Abi did a phenomenal job! Normally when I get my nails done, they start peeling off in sheets right before the two week mark. I've been extremely hard on them lately with lots of washing dishes and manual labor, and after two weeks they've only slightly chipped in two spots! Fair warning that their prices are definitely higher than your average nail salon, but most of the artists hand paint the art and take a lot more time on their clients. I probably won't be able fit in my budget visiting on a regular basis, but I loved the experience and will be treating myself to manicures here a few times a year!

I've been going to nail ninja for the past few months and absolutely love it! I didn't previously get my nails done regularly because I always felt it wasn't good for them and too expensive. Nail ninja though, isn't just they're too make your nails look beautiful but to also help keep them healthy without polish. I go to Marissa, who charges about $55 for simple nail art. This is super reasonable for how much work goes into learning how to do this beautiful art on nails! What I think I love most about this place is that when they take the gel polish off they don't just peel it like most places do which actually takes the top layer of your nail off. I also do wood working which is tough on my cuticles, and Marissa has had great suggestions on how to help. The atmosphere inside is awesome and I love their style/branding. Additionally, being able to chat with the artist, in English, makes this so much more enjoyable! Make sure to book in advance because they are BUSY!

I've had two dip services done at DK Diamond Nails. Make sure to bring cash for to save yourself…read morethe 3% card fee (or $2 to take cash from the ATM in the salon). Located in a small strip of local businesses there is plenty of free parking but the lot does get busy with shopping traffic! Diepy hit it out of the park on my second return (chrome green)! I've never been a regular nail girl but have been to dozens of salons for special occasions over the years. After years of crappy nails, I've decided to treat myself to something nice. Initially, I did a walk-in on a Sunday to remove work done elsewhere and get a new set of dip. The service was fine. The person who did my nails (purple) seemed to be in a hurry but was very nice -- I think my walk-in screwed up their schedule. The layers on my nails were sufficiently thinner and way more natural than the outside work I came with, which I appreciated. After about a week I noticed a hairline crack on my pointer finger, which turned into a full crack after a few days. Super bummed the set only lasted 2 weeks. I made an appointment for about 3 weeks later. Definitely recommend making an appointment! Diepy did such a good job manicuring my fingers and dipping my nails. She could tell I'm right hand dominate based on the growth and wearing of my nails. She took her time to make sure to reinforce the apex and tips with a base coat on top of the colored powder and smoothed the coating to perfection. No lump, bumps, or globs here! I then got treated to a cute photoshoot for my hands, which really boosted my confidence. I also received a gift of handcream for my birthday!! I think it was the best service I've ever had on a full set and at a great price ($53 for dip, $10 for chrome + tip). They had great relaxing spa music playing and fun HGTV shows on the TV. Im happy to have found a great nail salon right in my neighborhood! This second service solidified my love for DK!!

I got a dip/powder manicure here a few weeks ago, which turned out nice!…read more Returned today to have them removed and just regular manicure done, and it was HORRIBLE. I obviously didn't expect perfection from a strip mall place like this, but she did a terrible job. Barely trimmed cuticles, left rough edges on the tip, no cuticle oil. I rarely leave reviews, let alone bad reviews, but this was genuinely awful. Avoid this place.
