The food was just okay overall. Unfortunately, some of the items on the appetizer plate came out raw, which was very disappointing. While they did remove the item from the bill, it still impacted the experience. The restaurant was pretty empty, and after this visit, I can understand why. We thought about giving it another try in the future... not anymore.

Garlic naan, Baigan Bharta (eggplant) and Chicken Tikka Masala

They check every box for what I want. Here's some examples: - Garlic naan, flavorful, cripsy exterior with soft chewy center - not like overly chewy and inconsistent at other restaurants - Baitan Bharta, eggplant mixture, smokey flavored, very savory, with good texture balance with peas & onions - Chicken tikka masala, white meat but chicken is tender and not dried out, great balance between yogurt and spices They were also kind enough to let us dine with our dog on the patio!

I ordered from here using a delivery app because we had a gift card and our usual spot for Indian food wasn't listed on the app. I've never been here before but we were just ordering chicken makhani which is a pretty standard dish so I figured it should be pretty hard to get wrong. The plus side was that it arrived fast and it arrived steaming hot. It was a bit sloppy packaging though, with containers falling over, could've been solved if they just used two bags. But unfortunately it was missing my naan bread! I was bummed since this is my go to whenever I eat butter chicken. I don't mind having rice but the rice was very dry and had a bit of a bite to it so I think it was either undercooked or maybe stale. The butter chicken sauce was awesome but how can you go wrong with anything with butter! But the chicken did have some chewier pieces of fat and I had to spit those out. (Editing to one star...when we ate our last container of butter chicken it literally had bones in it) After our meal arrived I noticed that our order was adjusted for an extra charge. No idea why, but it didn't matter since I had to get a refund for the missing naan anyway. Overall not a great experience so it wasn't convincing me to actually come visit the establishment in person next time.

Maharani has been around for some time and all I have to say is, do. not. sleep. on. this. place. I can't believe I've only been there twice now. Everything was soooooo good. There was not a single thing I didn't like. Tried the Onion Bhujia which reminded me of an onion bloom from steakhouse restaurants, the vegetarian and lamb samosas, lamb curry, fish rheshmi, chicken tikka masala, chicken biryani, and the garlic naan. Their garlic naan may be the best garlic naan I've ever had. It was so flavorful, and the texture of the naan was light and fluffy. I can't wait to go back for more naan and to try their other dishes.

I can not say enough good things about this joint! From the food portions & quality to the speed of service, just awesome. My husband and I love to treat ourselves to this after a hard day of work and WOW, it is free therapy! Got the lamb vindaloo & the Special Chicken (cashew cream chicken) with the Kheer and basmati rice of course! The Naan combo is amazing and you get your moneys worth for sure. The Naan is always soft and warm! Absolutely amazing. Although I do wish their food was spicier, I know some people can not handle it and will complain and TANK businesses!! So thank You maharani India Restaurant for NEVER letting me down! Bless this location.

Excellent service and delicious food! The vegetable momo was the best best best of all the delicious food. Vegetable samosas were fabulous, everything was delicious. I love Indian food! I've been to several Indian restaurants locally. This has been the best so far! My husband has tried Indian food in the past and had not been a big fan, tonight he ate everything and enjoyed it. He said he would definitely try this restaurant again.

It's not often that I visit autehtic Indian cuisine…read more I grew up Texas and the Bay area most of my life and honestly only visited buffet type establishments in the past. Recently moving to Elk Grove, I was was surprised to see so many different restaurants and multiple food choices. That said, our group last night decided to try Indian food. Wow! And I mean a big smiled tummy rumbling WOW!!! Indian oven is the beast Indian food I have ever tasted! As you know, in my previous reviews, I have also taken into consideration, the ambiance, the restaurant cleanliness (Including the restrooms) and also the staffs demeanor when submitting reviews. I must admit, I am not surprised that this restaurant easily deserves five stars - on all points! If it wasn't for our server "Rinku", our group would never have realized the meticulous efforts made by ownership and staff in presenting so many varied and wonderful tasting dishes we were not previously aware of. In that, I mean, that when you go to a new restaurant, you look at the menu and you take somewhat of a chance in experiencing dishes that sound good, but having no previous experience/s there, may not receive the best tasting meal on the menu. Rinku not only explained the dishes and ingredients, he also gave a little bit of history and process involved into preparing such wonderful tasting meals - throughout. He took the time to answer our questions with as much detail, history, that was necessary for us to understand how much goes into making exceptional Indian cuisine. He highlighted the nuances involved in the preperation processes, the cooking methods, and the reasoning behind obtaining/ producing such differing textures, depths, and tones of flavors. And pointedly, I noticed that everything was very fresh, possibly and most likely made with heartfelt love for India Ovens' patrons. Once again if it wasn't for Rinkus' recommendations, we would not have known what to choose, pertaining to our personal likes, and to be honest, spiciness and heat tolerances of each individual in our group. From this point forward, I will not have any predetermined expectations of what food quality and/or flavors should/could taste like. Amongst our group, we ordered approximately eight different menu items, each with very specific and distinct flavors, and as mentioned before, wonderful textures. I (Rarely and highly) recommend family, friends, colleagues, and the general public to come here, not once, twice, but often, to experience the full menu - all in its time. I recommend that you come and experience wonderful savory Indian cuisine like no other. Thank you Rinku!

The only reason why I don't rate it 5 stars, is because when I usually order, I order to go, and they seem like they really don't care too much, when it comes to the customer service part of it. We were greeted by the sweetest waitress, who promptly took our drink order and then gave us a few minutes to look over the menu without feeling rushed. For appetizers, we chose the Nepali samosas, mushroom pakora, and goat cheese naan--every single one was delicious. I usually order the Chicken Tikka Masala, but this time I decided to switch things up and try the Butter Chicken. I can honestly say I was not disappointed. Paired with the garlic basil naan, it was perfection. A little piece of naan, a small scoop of basmati rice, and a drizzle of that rich, flavorful butter chicken was absolutely chef's kiss. The portions were generous, and I had plenty left over. Now I'm genuinely looking forward to lunch tomorrow so I can relive the experience all over again. If you're looking for incredible Indian and Nepali food in Sacramento, Everest Curry is definitely worth a visit.

The server (I guess...it was a buffet) greeted me warmly, and immediately got my drink order. Water was refilled, no complaints. The paintings were beautiful...and I caught myself looking at them for moments at a time. Now then...I'm working a lot of OT this week, and getting a cold. So, treat myself and help with a cold is two birds with one stone. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The butter chicken tasted like lukewarm jarred sweet and sour sauce from a Chinese restaurant...no spice, but nothing resembling any butter chicken I've tried. The chicken curry was...salty...I guess, but not much other flavor. I literally was the first customer...and the samosas were not crispy at all....too soggy. Plate 2 wasn't much better. The goat curry was the most flavorable of anything, but not the best I've had. The tandoori chicken leg I had was borderline undercover. I NEEDED spice today, people ..kill this cold. While some of your patrons are Caucasian, we're American...not British. We like spice. For $24, I expect a buffet of much higher caliber.

She'd noticed my growing curiosity about Afghan cuisine from a previous visit elsewhere and gently pointed me toward Chopan Kabob House, insisting it was worth the experience. There was something comforting in that recommendation--like being guided toward a place that already held meaning for someone you trust. When I arrived, I was immediately struck by the restaurant's clean, welcoming atmosphere. The space felt intentional--nicely furnished without being overwhelming, simple yet warm. I mentioned I was ordering takeout, and the gentleman behind the counter handed me a menu. At first glance, it seemed straightforward, but the more I looked, the more it felt thoughtfully curated--each item carrying a sense of tradition and care. Wanting a proper introduction, I chose the Combination Kabob with Tikka and chicken. It felt like the right balance--a way to experience more in a single meal. I was told it would take about 20 minutes, and as I sat waiting, I found myself appreciating that detail. In a world built on speed, those 20 minutes felt reassuring. It suggested intention, freshness, and the kind of cooking that isn't rushed. When I finally brought the meal home and opened the container, I was genuinely surprised. The portions were generous--almost abundant. A vibrant salad added a refreshing contrast, while the long-grain rice was fragrant and perfectly cooked. Then there were the stars of the meal: the Tikka beef and the chicken, both beautifully prepared. Each bite carried depth--layers of spices and seasoning that felt both bold and comforting. It wasn't just flavorful; it felt rooted in something deeper, something traditional. By the time I finished, I realized this wasn't just a satisfying meal--it was an experience that lingered. There's a certain nostalgia in discovering a place like this for the first time, especially through the recommendation of someone close to you. It feels personal, almost like being let in on a secret. I'm already looking forward to returning, perhaps next time to dine in and take in the full experience. I have had a lot of their menu and most of it hits. The kabobs are always a strong choice, the biryani is flavorful and satisfying, and the chicken tikka masala is decent. Not the best I have ever had, but definitely solid enough to enjoy. It is not mind blowing food, but it is reliable. You know what you are getting, and more often than not, it delivers. This South Sacramento location is the one to go to if you want a good experience. The vibe is pretty casual and no frills, which fits the food.
