We were greeted by the sweetest waitress, who promptly took our drink order and then gave us a few minutes to look over the menu without feeling rushed. For appetizers, we chose the Nepali samosas, mushroom pakora, and goat cheese naan--every single one was delicious. I usually order the Chicken Tikka Masala, but this time I decided to switch things up and try the Butter Chicken. I can honestly say I was not disappointed. Paired with the garlic basil naan, it was perfection. A little piece of naan, a small scoop of basmati rice, and a drizzle of that rich, flavorful butter chicken was absolutely chef's kiss. I so wanted (NEEDED) this to be a good review, and I'll explain why in a bit. But first... Ambiance. The server (I guess...it was a buffet) greeted me warmly, and immediately got my drink order. Water was refilled, no complaints. The paintings were beautiful...and I caught myself looking at them for moments at a time. Now then...I'm working a lot of OT this week, and getting a cold. So, treat myself and help with a cold is two birds with one stone. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The butter chicken tasted like lukewarm jarred sweet and sour sauce from a Chinese restaurant...no spice, but nothing resembling any butter chicken I've tried. The chicken curry was...salty...I guess, but not much other flavor. I literally was the first customer...and the samosas were not crispy at all....too soggy. Plate 2 wasn't much better. The goat curry was the most flavorable of anything, but not the best I've had. The tandoori chicken leg I had was borderline undercover. I NEEDED spice today, people ..kill this cold. Been living in Sacramento for a year and I have tried so many Indian/Nepali restaurants in the area, and Everest is by far THE BEST! All were very delightful. Juicy pieces of chicken. Sauces were very rich and maybe a bit heavy for my liking due to all the heavy cream but I loved the flavor on the korma. I came here with a party of 3; we ordered the Everest sampler, chicken tikka masala, chicken saag, salmon tandoori, and garlic naan. Decent portions, I think the Everest sampler is really worth it given that it's only $13 but you get so much variety and decent amount of food (the sauces are so yummy too). My favorite dish (which I failed to capture a picture of) was the salmon tandoori - the dish is good on its own, but topped off with the sauces from the sampler, the combination of flavors elevates the dish. The only miss was the chicken tikka masala, in my opinion the curry is too sweet, but the chicken pieces were still tender. The chicken saag was ok. The hostess/server was very friendly, and when we asked to sub out the shrimp due to allergies, she was very accommodating and subbed it out with chicken at no extra charge! I do wish water refills were more frequent given that there was only one other group besides mine. I love the traditional Indian music playing in the background - really adds to the ambiance! This place reminds me of home, but that's not Nepal for me. It's Houston. My buddies and I would frequent the South Asian enclave of Stafford for the amazing Indian, Pakistani, Nepalese, and Himalayan food. Every couple months, we'd try a new hole-in-the-wall restaurant that would end up serving some top tier dishes. It felt great to relive that feeling in Sacramento. First time trying lamb kadhai and it won't be the last. I'm a sucker for flavorful dishes with simple ingredients, and this one checks the box. How can lamb, onions, bell peppers, and a lime taste this delicious? Beats me. The chicken biryani does not lack any spices. Same goes for the chicken tikka masala, though I hoped for more chicken and less sauce. The veggie momos did not stand out to me by itself, but the dip that it comes with makes all the difference. My only real complaint involves the wait time. Service took 45-50 minutes from order to table. I can sympathize for two groups coming in shortly before us, but that's still quite a wait for 5 entrees and garlic naan. Otherwise, this place gets my approval! read more

One drumstick in the tandoor chicken, dried up naan, curry without the chicken. My complaint was never ending. I love this type of food and was very disappointed. Everest Curry on Broadway is a good spot for delicious AND vegetarian friendly curries! My favorites are the excellent vegetarian paneer tikka masala and the vegetarian coconut curry. I can attest that both take out and dine in are reliable options, though I'll say dining in is a relaxing experience with polite and attentive staff, and I would recommend it. There's a whole page of veggie options, but I did not ask which were vegan. I would hazard a guess that vegan mods are available, and the samosas are likely vegan. I recommend the veggie samosas too. They're filled with savory goodness. The veggie samosas and paneer (a soft, mild cubed cheese and solid substitute for meat in Indian dishes, highly recommend) tikka masala are my favorite items on the menu. I am not a huge fan of having to purchase rice separately for the curries. Make sure you don't forget, though for dine in they'll probably ask if you would like to order some. We have definitely forgotten to add it to our take out order and have had to make our own rice instead, oops. Prices are a little steep due to this, in my opinion. Naan is also an add on, and two people who are hungry might need to order two orders of it. Personally, I think their regular and garlic naan are good, but not great. Curries and samosas are where they shine. I am very pleased with the quality of service here, and there's never been a long wait for food. There is unmetered street parking only, and alas, I have no bathroom update to report (yet). I recommend stopping in for some Indian-Nepalese food at Everest Curry. It's hard to stay away even when it's warm outside! PS! There is a lunch buffet from 11:30-1:30 (ish, I may be off 15 minutes or so as I didn't take a pic of the sign on my last visit oops again bad yelper) but we've yet to try it. read more

It pains me to write this update... The first two times my wife and I visited Everest Curry it was HEAVEN! DIVINE! Food fit for a god!!!! I would've FOUGHT someone who dared criticize Everest Curry (lol). Unfortunately the last time I got takeout from 'Everest' their food was a complete letdown. The butter chicken and tikka masala had ZERO flavor. None. Zero spice and no salt. Incredibly bland and flavorless. The saag was equally mediocre. Similar to the butter chicken and tikka masala there was little to no flavor or spice. And was absent any salt. A complete 180 of the two previous times. Their rice and naan were okay, but not as good as we'd previously remembered either. My wife and I were absolutely shocked at how "mid" the meal was. So shocked, we unfortunately dumped what wasn't eaten as we could not stomach the idea of having their leftovers. This killed us as we hate wasting food. Overall we were incredibly dissatisfied. Which is a shame, because their staff are always very friendly and welcoming when I come for takeout. That is why I'm giving them two stars instead of one. For my wife and I, the +$70 bill is not worth the risk of such inconsistency. It is like rolling the dice on whether or not your food will banging or not. I really hope Everest Curry can fix this and go back to how it was. Because previously they were my favorite Indian/Nepalese restaurant in Sacramento. Wow, I'm so apologetic to have to lower my score, but I have to update y'all. My husband and I picked up to-go from Everest tonight because we were craving Indian food. We were so disappointed. There was no flavor in the tikka masala or the chana saag. It's changed for the worse. We ordered through GrubHub and didn't notice it doesn't give you a spicy level option so our food was bland. We usually order through Everest's website and they provide a spicy level option. If you're going to try this spot, only order from their website; that was our mistake. What wasn't our mistake is the lack of flavor in nearly every dish. The rice, garlic basil naan, and chutneys had no flavor. The mint cilantro chutney was the worst; it wasn't anything like it used to be. It's now milky and watery. Yuck. Two stars for the appetizers being nice and crispy, and two stars for the pleasant pick up experience. That's all. I'd love to try Everest again, but only if they go back to how they were when they opened. read more

When I called ahead and asked about the buffet, an employee responded immediately. Didn't keep me on hold. The lunch buffet is weekdays, from 11:00 am until 2:30 pm. It's $21.70. It's traditional Indian cuisine which includes Butter Chicken and Tandoori Chicken but also has unique dishes such as Goat Curry and papadum. The vegetarian Korma was good. It's green peas, green beans, red bell peppers and potatoes in a cream sauce. Masala chai tea is included with the buffet. Similar to the old Curry Club, they give you a choice of original or garlic naan. The hostess told me to sit anywhere I liked. This new restaurant is worth a repeat visit. read more

The mix from the vegetable sampler order, the lamb curry plate, and a side of roti was more than enough for the two of us and it gave a great introduction into North Indian / Nepalese food. Don't know how some people can lie about a place being 'the best', when in reality it's the worse. 4 of us went at 1.45pm, which is buffet time, everything was empty, the dude kept asking, please tell me wat needs to be refilled, like seriously. The mixed vegetables had gone bad, I politely went to tell this dude by the register, he apologized and refilled but it had all gone bad. I even ordered veg and chicken momos, the chicken ones were good enough but the veg momos were very hard, looked like they were steamed again, it was all outer hard shell with no filling. For $20 per plate for buffet we only had chicken curry and rice, my son had butter chicken and naan. We paid $120 vowing to never come here again and warn all our friends too. I tried thali for the first time but I think I'm a simple girl so will just do rice and naan with my curry in the future. This was some of the best Indian-Nepalese fusion food I've ever experienced. Everything was phenomenal but my absolute favorite dishes were the tikka masala and the Bhindi masala. You have to order rice or naan separately with an additional charge. Waitress was not attentive and we had to ask for several water refills. I do not feel there was enough value for the price. I have eaten there three times and the food is always amazing. My favorites are goat cheese naan and coconut chicken curry. Plus, co-owner Anil is above-and-beyond nice and helpful.
