We stumbled upon this place when we were passing through Southern Pines. Very impressed with the quality and authenticity of each dish. We got the papaya salad with cashews instead of peanuts since I'm allergic, and it was so fresh and flavorful with plenty of citrus lime. It came with sticky rice in a traditional bamboo container which was such a great touch. Also got the pad see ew with beef and the flavored were great as well. Highly recommend eating here. Food came out piping hot. Spring rolls to start. My husband had the ginger stir fry with shrimp and rice. I had pad see ew with chicken. Both were the best we have ever had! The inside is really nice and clean. Service outstanding. Greeted right away. Water continuously poured. Food brought out immediately. I was in town for business and had a taste for curry. I found this place in Yelp top 10 for local restaurants. The reviews look great so I headed over. The staff is very friendly and polite and seated me promptly took my drink order. For an appetizer, I chose spring rolls. They were crispy on the outside and piping hot inside. The dipping sauce was out of this world. For my entrée, I chose the green chicken curry with vegetables and jasmine rice. It was also very good. Watch the spice level because I ordered mine mild, and it was pretty spicy, But all around great food and service. I will definitely be back. read more

We got food delivered to us, figured we would try something new. It was so good!! We got the Massaman, Pho Chicken, and Yellow curry (with no meat.) Each dish was amazing!! I'll rate below: Massaman: I had never had this before and it did not disappoint. It's a curry not heat spicy, but a creamy buttery texture with fragrant spices. It was a big portion, can be split between two people with rice easily. But...I may not next time it's so good! :) Pho Chicken: this type of dish is very easy to do wrong but they do soooooo right. Perfect broth made with love. The chicken and vegetables very perfectly cooked, as were the glass noodles. That sauce is spicy though!!!! Try a bit on a spoon before pouring into the dish. lol. We would have eaten it anyway but just a heads up. Yellow curry: this curry has some heat to it. Back of the throat in a pleasant way, that doesn't build up to hot but compliments everything else. I have eaten Pad Thai from the East coast to the West coast. This place is definitely in my top three of all time! Found this place on Yelp! Service was fast and excellent! When you walk in you are automatically greeted with a smile and sat down quickly! We sat at the bar. Had a great conversation with the manager. This place is super cool to have lunch or dinner when you don't want an Uber fancy yet affordable Thai food! The building is lit perfectly with quaint booths to enjoy your food! We've been here twice in the past month, the food is so fresh and so good. The server was very friendly and helpful with offering his favorites on the menu. My husband and I went for lunch today. We had a very good meal. My husband had bulgogi steak and he enjoyed it very much. I had the orange chicken and it was very good as well. We shared an order of spring rolls and crab Rangoon's. Both which we enjoyed. I had a Thai tea and it was great. We did order too much food, but we were able to bring some home with us. There are 3 Thai restaurants in the area, and this one is hands down the best. As someone who has lived in Thailand for many years, I know what traditional Thai food should taste like, and Mai Phi's nails it. It's the closest thing to actually eating at a restaurant in Thailand. So if you want to eat a true authentic Thai dish, eat here! If you want kinda, sorta, maybe authentic. This is the first time eating at Mai-Phi since the change in ownership. Our first visit with the previous owners was off the charts great. This visit was very good with some exceptions. I will get to the point. My dinner, orange chicken was perfection. It was what you would expect, tangy, overly sweet and crispy. I had them add some heat to offset the sugar and it worked beautifully. The heat level was not what I wanted. I like it hot. But the flavor of the chiles they use was so good. My wife had the beef bulgogi. And it was equally as great, with loads of succulent beef on a sizzling hot platter. Our friend had Tom Yum soup. It was loaded with shrimp but beware, the large is large. She absolutely felt the soup was spot on. The only entree that did not make the grade was her husbands peanut curry chicken. It looked good to us but he thought it was a bit soupy and he said it had no taste of peanut. He also asked for it hot and it came very very mild. The rice that came with the dishes was perfect as well. Even the house Pinot Grigio hit the spot. So what did not end up so good... is the appetizers. The calamari was only giant rings, no tentacles and I know the brand they bought. It is of course frozen but good quality. Where it failed was the breading. It really felt like the breading you get on frozen onion rings. Which on onion rings works. This not as much. Next were the fried pot stickers. The original ones we had under the previous owners were hand made. These were small, store bought frozen one's. They were small, flavorless and dry. Our one friend had the fresh rolls. They were certainly big but but she thought they were missing ingredients on the menu. After reviewing the menu before writing this, she was wrong it was all there although the shrimp was not as much as one might expect. Still I certainly though it looked great and they are a meal in themselves. Her husband had the papaya salad which he asked for some heat on it. It came mild but they both agreed it was good. So in conclusion, yeah we will be back, but perhaps not order the appetizers. If it can be frozen, it is frozen. BTW, orange chicken was invented by Panda Express in Hawaii and rarely can be found in Asia. True. read more

The food is actually pretty good, I like the selection of food and the decorations. Overall this restaurant would be great even though it's next to a strip club. However after going and having good experiences the first 4 times or so, the last 3 visits have been terribly slow and horrendous service. I really am not one to leave bad reviews because I think that places should be given benefit of doubt. However when you have three visits in a row with such bad service, I have to say something in hope of them doing something about their staff, because I really do like the restaurant and the food. read more

Heaven! From beginning to end. From the Tom Kha soup appetizer to the Thai basil fried rice and avocado chicken curry entrees to the mango sticky rice for dessert, we did not want it to end.
