I'd never heard of Boonma Thai until starting a new job, where my coworkers talk about it like it's the Thai spot in town. When that many people hype a place, expectations are officially raised, so I figured it was time to see what the buzz was about. This was a pickup order handled by a coworker, so I can't personally speak to service, but everyone I work with swears the staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, and I believe them. I ordered the Thai beef salad from the lunch menu and a large Thai tea. Price-wise, the beef salad was very reasonable. The Thai tea was on the expensive side, though you do get a generous portion. I ordered the salad medium hot, and the spice level was spot-on. That said, the flavor leaned much sweeter than I expected. I know Thai beef salad can have a hint of sweetness to balance the lime and fish sauce, but here it felt more pronounced than usual. The dish was also missing that classic crunchy element, the toasted ground rice that usually adds texture and depth, which made it feel a bit flat. The Thai tea was the biggest miss for me. It tasted noticeably watered down, and interestingly, several coworkers independently said the same thing about theirs. They also mentioned their food wasn't quite up to Boonma's usual standard this time. I'm landing at three stars for now, not because it was bad, but because it didn't match the reputation my coworkers built up. That said, given how strongly everyone vouches for this place, I'm more than willing to give Boonma (and my coworkers) another chance to convince me this was just an off day. read more

We got the shrimp tom yum soup, pad see ew, lad na & lo mein. Everything was good but the lad na, it's suppose to be a thick gravy-like consistency for the sauce but it was so watery it made the noodles slippery hard to eat so I don't recommend that dish but everything else was good! The tom yum was perfect flavor very delicious & the pad see ew was yummy the broccoli was cooked to perfection with a nice crunch still and the beef was so tender. Service was great, it was just one lady that took our order at the front cashier she was lovely & checked up on us made sure we were always good. We were very comfortable & had a great experience. Spice levels were good, as someone with high tolerance w spice, the "spicy" level was a medium to me, so if you like spicy spicy definitely go for Thai hot! read more

This is one of our favorite places to visit to eat. The last time we went the chicken in the curry was like jiggly, idk how to explain it. I can't say its chicken skin cause I've never had chicken skin but the texture put me off to the point we had to give it back and order shrimp and had to pay extra for it. We visited there again yesterday and I let go of the panag curry and opted to get the chicken fried rice. Well I mentioned my concerns and i was told to ask to cook the chicken well done. I was thinking ummm shouldn't chicken be cooked well done anyway? So anyways i got my food everything was good except the chicken. It had a gold/brown texture but it was hard and chewy. Their Thai rice is always good, along with spring or shrimp rolls. But pud Thai is a 50/50 proposition as to whether or not the noodles are rubber. This used to be a good restaurant. The owners changed about 6 months ago, and now it is the WORST RESTAURANT IN FAYETTEVILLE!!! Awful. I wish I didn't have to put a star to leave a review. The cashier was rude to me because I didn't realize she had gave me an order number when I called in my order. I had gave her my phone number to write down so I don't understand what the big deal was. Not to mention my order was the only one sitting there. Then she did not understand why I asked her why she didn't have a mask on. She said the customers wear their mask and she has the plexy glass there so she was fine. This place is definitely tucked away off of Raeford rd. I will take the first few sentences in trying to articulate where this place actually is. Ok so it's shortly after passing the turn to Owen drive but not before the Mcpherson. Its a very quick right turn before some car wash place that i can't remember the name of. (Hope this helps you, i had to call the restaurant because i missed the turn). As far as customer service goes, the lady who was there was extremely nice. She helped me with items on the menu and also talked me out of a few things. She has pictures for those who may want to see the items up close before selecting. Size- this place is fairly small. Before I went i assumed it was a true sit down restaurant but it seems more like a quick takeout place. It does have maybe 6 tables, not exactly sure but its not many, Prices- Prices are extremely good, lunch specials last until at least 2 i believe. And the quantity of the food and quality for the price seems to exceed the amount you pay! I've only been once and i wanted to try pad thai but the waitress suggested I try something basic since it was my first time having thai food. So she talked me into thai fried rice, I was disappointed because I was feeling extremely adventurous when I entered. The rice was really good and the portion was large, i tend to never eat all of my food no matter what the portion size is but its huge for less than 7 dollars. I do plan on going again but the waitress/cashier was very wise in getting me to select something more basic my first time; because even if I go back and try something and don't like it, I wont discount the restaurant! I've had better Thai food just NOT in Fayetteville. We have tried a lot of mom & pop restaurants and have been dissatisfied 95% of the time here in Fayetteville. BUT we were not disappointed today. They made our 5%. The restaurant was a little dirty BUT friendly service and fast, hot and food that tastes good. The prices were good. We ordered pad Thai and the fried rices. My coworker told me about this hidden gym and I cannot explain how amazing the food taste here! I went 7/9/18 and ordered the Chicken pad Thai as it's a popular dish and I am not overly familiar with Thai food. The lady that greeted me and rang me up and also served me was so super sweet. She was patient with explaining the different dishes and offering her suggestions. I waited maybe 20 minutes and my meal was worth every minute of that and more. So delicious!!! I ordered then mild spiciness level and will not go beyond that even though I love spicy food. It was perfect. The building itself is not beautiful. This is not somewhere you go for the ambiance or a sit down dinner date although they do have a small sitting area. This is the perfect low key lunch spot or casual dinner stop. You can call ahead and pick up. If you walk in, you will have to wait. All the food is homemade and FRESH! I actually went again today, 7/10/18 and ordered the same thing but added beef. Perfectly priced, perfectly sized portion for lunch. I had the shrimp pad thai. Shrimp were very small (like salad shrimp) but the dish was very, very tasty. Best tasting pad thai I've had in town so far. Not greasy like some places. The fried spring rolls were good too. My only disappointment was that they didn't have the fresh rolls today, and I was looking forward to trying theirs. I've had others in town that just didn't hit the spot the way the ones did at my favorite place in Texas. Something has been missing... Mint maybe? Not sure. But I was looking forward to trying the ones here and was disappointed they didn't have them when I called in my order. The restaurant is really close to All-American expressway. Relatively clean and modern, compared to almost all Asian restaurants. The hostess was the most knowledgable, friendly person I have come across, here in Fayetteville. She informed me that hot means Hot, when I ordered spicy food... She wasn't kidding, I literally started to sweat and I think at one point I cried :-P everything that I saw coming out of the kitchen looked phenomenal! But my food was the best. Honestly I can't remember what I had, but it was a chicken dish based on her suggestion. Decided to come here after reading all the positive reviews. This is a very casual, no frills eatery. A+ for service. We were seated immediately. Our hostess was very friendly and frequently checked on us to refill our glasses with water. C for food. We ordered Red Curry with Tofu and Thai Ginger with Beef. Thai ginger was fairly decent and flavorful. Red Curry, on the other hand, was too watery and very mild in flavors for my taste. We also ordered a side of spring rolls - 2 small pieces, tasted fairly standard as it's hard to mess up spring rolls. Ate here for the first time because it was one of the few Thai places open on Sunday at the hour. It's a hole in the wall but that's neither here nor there. Some of the best Thai places are. I ordered Seafood soup with rice noodles. I chose it over other soups because it had bean sprouts. When the soup came there were barely any bean sprouts so I asked for a small handful.
