When my wife and I walked in, we were told everything is "home cooked from scratch." I don't know whose home they are referring to, but I've certainly never been to this house. After the appetizer (veggie potstickers and crab Rangoon) I was ready to denounce my family. After the entree (green curry, basil fried rice, stir fried mixed vegetables) I began actively looking for a shaman to resurrect my grandmother so I could give her a piece of my mind for never cooking anything this good. One taste of the mango sticky rice and I was ready to shave my head and commit to the church of Mai-Phi (not sure if shaving is required, but I'm balding so why not). My wife is vegan and I only eat fish and veggies. Mai Phi is super-accommodating and can make anything on the menu picky-eater friendly. We will be back. Probably tomorrow. read more

Back in Pinehurst and this spot is still amazing!! I'm soooooo happy that I'm able to find traditional Asian cuisine here. Ordered both Beef Pho and Chicken Pho, both were so flavorful, packed with protein and noodles. DONT FORGET TO ASK FOR MEATBALLS IN YOUR PHO. Also had Pad See Ew, Bun Thit Nuong, Lao Sausage with Sticky Rice, Dumplings, and Tom Yum Soup....OMG, heaven in my belly! I ordered Crab Ragoon and suprise, its complimentary. They're opening a Boba Shop in Southern Pines next week, so excited. Psss....they also own the fabulous Steve's TK Pizza and Subs, which also sells fire PHO!! Mind-blown. Awesome food at good prices. I have been trying the various Asian restaurants in my area and this one is great. The dim sum was perfectly prepared, the Avocado Chicken, Pad Thai, Salmon, and Glazed Chicken and Pork were full of flavor and fork tender. We will definitely enjoy eating at this restaurant again. We had Pho Bo (meat pho with brisket and beef balls) shrimp tempura, chicken satay and tofu pad thai. We will back and I mean like regulars back. The pad thai we ordered lvl 3 and it actually had a kick. I always order the spiciest level and it is disappointing. The broth for the pho was very good, very flavorful. FYI their chili oil is spicy and when you add it to your soup it is so good! The only thing is the meat to noodle ratio is lacking, more noodles than meat. 4 stars for that and the fact that we waited quite a while for our food and it was not that busy. Just moved to the area & was craving some tasty pho. Decided to come to Mai Phi and try them out. They give you a few crab rangoons as a complementary app & they are so perfect! They are crispy & creamy, just the way they should be. Im orginally from southern cali, so Ive had some really good pho & Mai Phi didnt disapoint. Ordered a large pho bo, the flavor profile is on point & they dont skimp on meat which is very important to me. The staff is very friendly & always made sure we were taken care of. Wow! This place is amazing! My husband and I have been on the Tour de Thai this past week (we tried all 3 Thai restaurants in Southern Pines), and this place is hands down the best. So good in fact, that we decided to revisit this place a second time within the week. I am vegan and my husband is vegetarian/pescatarian and they have been incredibly accommodating. On our first go, we did take-out and shared a pad see ew, panang curry, spicy basil fried rice, and purple mango sticky rice. All of the dishes were fantastic, and they do complimentary crab rangoons which my husband enjoyed while he picked up the food. On second visit, we decided to eat in. The restaurant decor is very chic, the wait staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food is amazing! They went so far as to veganize the potstickers for me (did I mention everything is made from scratch in the restaurant?). This time we tried the green curry, mixed vegetable stir fry, and....the spicy basil fried rice again (irresistible). Once again, nothing disappointed. We'll be regulars from here on out! Can't wait to come back.....maybe I'll make it more than 3 days this time, but I wouldn't bet on that. read more

The food was unexpectedly good. My husband and I were unsure of what to expect given that it was almost empty when we arrived and the area isn't exactly booming with Asian food. We got the Thai iced tea, vegetable tom yum soup, vegetable drunken noodles, spring rolls, and firecracker shrimp. They gave us some complementary crab rangoon as well. All in all, everything was delicious. The Thai ice tea was very sweet, but when I pointed it out they mixed it with unsweetened tea for me. There was also one overturned shoe​ in the​ parking​ area which made me think twice about dining there. I ordered the vegetarian Pad Thai​ because I wanted to be cautious and it was spicy and really good. The adorable waiter was quite chatty and tod me the place is owned by a guy from India and Vietnam.
