One of the best Mediterranean restaurants in Long Island that I've been to so far. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful as soon as you walk in. Went there today for an early dinner with my wife. The service was horrible. There was no one in the restaurant so we dont understand why the service was so bad. Our waiter came over once brought water and stale Naan, and the yogurt sauce had absolutely no flavor. We sat there for over 30 minutes no one approached. We ordered the eggplant appetizer and it was very oily and not warm. That was a sign. We ordered our kebab platers and what a disappointment. The species that are used are horrible. It looks good in the picture but tastes awful or I guess you have to be used to these spices. Service was very slow. I had to physically get and ask for things twice. I had hurt burn all night long. Barg kebab is tender, juicy and flavorful. Chicken kebab is OK, I have had better at afghan spots. The white rice as no flavor, avoid. The brown rice has more flavor, again not as good as afghan spots. The veggies that come with it, like grilled onions and tomatos are nice but the brocolli and sweet plaintains make ZERO sense being on the plate. Decent persian food in a somewhat fancy dining area. The ambiance of the restaurant is the best thing about it. The pita bread and dipping sauce they give you in the beginning is good. We ordered an appetizer and got the wrong one at first but they didn't charge us for it and gave us the correct one. We actually liked the one that came out by mistake more so we asked what it was called and we were given an attitude as if we should already know. The food we ordered was from the lunch special which says it comes with soup or salad and tea or soda and we didn't get any of that. The food was okay and the portions were fine but they did not get our order right. When we pointed it out the server just looked at us as if we were wrong and they were right and gave us attitude. Finally, good kebabs near my home in garden City. After many failed kebab quests, Azerbaijan Grill delivered on both the koobideh (essentially kofta) and boneless chicken. Prices are good, service is friendly and they have a parking lot. Their dessert options were just ok - the ice cream was refreshing but was mostly sweet cream with a few pistachios and a rose water taste. The Persian tea was pretty good. There's lovely authentic music playing in the background. On the downside they still have a coupon posted to yelp that expired 23 months ago (which you can't tell until you redeem) and sadly they don't deliver but you can pickup. The only decent part about this restaurant is the decor- the food and service were extremely disappointing. I had the chicken kebab- it had little flavor and tasted like rubber. The rice tasted like it was frozen and they had just heated it up. We ordered the baklava and ice cream for dessert. The baklava tasted like it had been sitting in the freezer for God knows how long- and the ice cream tasted like perfume. Our waiter never came to check in on us even though we were the only table on the first floor, they were not busy at all. One of the best middle eastern food I ever had ! This place is vegan friendly. I don't remember the exact names of the meal I had but if you ask the server they will know if you describe it. I had an appetizer sampler with mashed eggplant, falafel, and these little fried chick peas dumpling. The falafel does taste doughy but it taste pretty good to me. The food tastes fresh and authentic. You can really taste the flavors and they cook with olive oil. I requested no cheese or yogurt and they were accommodating. The server Syed was very warming. This place is a little gem and I'll definitely be visiting again soon. They are pretty busy so I'm Glad to know that I'm not the only one who thinks this place is amazing! read more

We received house pita, fresh and warm, and a lemon dill yogurt sauce that's disappointingly not tzatiki. But we ordered hummus to go with it. The hummus comes with toppings of tomatoes and onions; it could use more salt but tastes very fresh and creamy. Some dishes we ordered were the boneless chicken kebab and salmon shish kebab. 1000% recommend the salmon- it was so tender and flaky. The chicken was a bit dry but still juicy and well seasoned. The grilled veggies were also well seasoned. Definitely try the sumac seasoning on the table-it's slightly lemony and goes with everything! Lastly, we had baklava for dessert. The dish comes with two kinds-one with pistachio and one with walnuts. I personally liked the pistachio one a lot more , and it's not overwhelmingly sweet. Portion sizes are decent, not huge. This is our favorite Mediterranean restaurant. We have been there many times in both the old and new locations. Everything is top notch. The hummus is the best there is. The salmon, barg, chicken and shrimp kebabs are great. The lamb chops are wonderful. The host, Sayeed (I'm sure I spelled it wrong) is personable and accommodating. The wait staff is fabulous.
