Came back a month later after my first try. The service is abysmal. The soda fountain running clear on a few selections and the Coke Zero tasted watered down. I waited 30 mins for my food before the back of house realized they weren't receiving orders, they didn't notice that their machine was broken or that they had pending orders and worst part after I told them I was on the clock and that their mistake was making me late for a meeting I just asked for a refund and turns out there was no supervisor or anyone capable of giving a refund. I went in here cause I had a coupon for a free sandwich, after going online and looking at their prices I was blown away at how expensive this place is. I walked in and the place was a ghost town, there was no one to greet you, there was a self order kiosk. Finally someone from the kitchen looked at me and not even a hello instead he called someone else. Once I got my food thank goodness it was free. They had me literally drive down to the store, return the food to them because they switched the order and this was for someone else, and got here and waited another 10 minutes for my correct food. It makes me a little worried they serve returned food to other people. There's easily spots to mark what food is what on the top, but they don't bother to utilize it. The food here is great. It's well priced with something for everyone. I got the all day combo and it came with a deliciously well fried hot chicken sandwich and amazing fries, fried to perfection. The chicken is not overly (wet) glazed but still well-seasoned and not overly-breaded. Service could've been a little bit friendlier but it's definitely the typical ambiance of an O'side shop and is chill as a result. The decor is inline with other hot chicken spots with a neat mural of the O'side pier pre-fir. There's plenty of parking at this location. read more

I really wanted to love this location because the food itself was great! I ordered Combo #1, which was perfect to share with my 3 yr old one sandwich, one tender, and fries. Flavor-wise, no complaints at all. The service, though... yikes. You order on a self-serve screen (and they still request a tip lol), and when I had a couple of simple questions, the young lady at the counter seemed confused and hesitant to answer. I asked if I could get the sauce on the side instead of on the sandwich. Her response was, "You can only choose no sauce." ‍ I explained I just wanted to try it first, and she blank-stared at me before saying, "It comes with one anyway." Why not say that from the start? Then when I picked up my order, my sandwich had zero pickles. When I told her, she replied, "You only get two!" I said, "Exactly -- there are none in here." She walked away with attitude, debated it with the kitchen staff right in front of me, and finally someone handed her a small container of pickles. She slid it across the counter instead of handing it to me... just unnecessary energy. For a Saturday, the place was empty (super clean though), now I understand why. It's hard to want to support a local spot when the customer service makes you feel like you're lying over something as small as pickles. I love the Carlsbad location and have never had issues there, so this experience was a real bummer. I'm a bit of a spice wimp so the mild chicken was perfect for me and flavorful down to the last bite. I loved the pickle and slaw crunch in the sandwich. It was extremely expensive for the lack of actual flavor of the chicken. It really just tasted like straight chili powder. My cousin said she could only taste chili powder and butter. The fries were great, actually some of the best fries I've had. But...the fries shouldn't have been better than the food the place is named after. Their MC sauce is pretty good but the cups being 1.49 each to not even be actually filled is a little bit sad.
