5 stars for customer service! We came in a bit later in the evening to grab dinner after swim lessons. We arrived around 7ish to a full house and although they close at 8pm, they were still happy to serve us despite a 20-30 min wait prepping other orders, and they did not rush us to leave finishing our dinner. We ordered a platter, that came with coconut rice and garlic bread, elote mac and cheese, fried brussels and carrot cake! The chicken was delicious crispy, juicy and flavorful and was def the highlight of the meal along with carrot cake. The variety of sauces made something for everyone even though the chicken didn't even need sauce. The mild sauces were a hit for our fam. They offer soda water alongside regular water and fountain drinks which was highly appreciated, we are a bubbly fam! I love the idea of the coconut rice but also offering plain white rice would be a great option, as well as fresh steamed veggies or a side salad option. The elote mac and cheese didn't quite hit the spot for me but I would try the regular mac next time! The dining room had indoor and outdoor option, love the casual concrete dining style. They were super mindful of cleaning tables for new folks to sit down among the busy dining room. Plenty of parking in the lot but can see it getting full quickly as it seems to be a relavtively new plaza with more food biz still opening up. I met my brother here for lunch on his recommendation, and wow--it was amazing. The chicken sandwich was easily one of the best I've ever had. It was incredibly juicy and tender, and their special sauce is just plain addictive. They have plenty of seating both inside and outside. We sat on the patio, which was perfect with the umbrellas providing great shade. The experience was excellent from the moment we walked in. We were warmly greeted, our order was taken right away, and the food was delivered to our table quickly. Kudos to the staff--the entire restaurant was spotless and well‑run. Finally made the drive out to Rancho del Oro to try out Roostr Yard. I had the Southwest Quinoa Bowl which comes with the Herb Lemon sauce by default. It was delicious and hearty. Definitely plenty of food. I also ordered the Brussel Sprout Croutons and I gotta say that they were exceptional. I had their half chicken meal, and on my second visit had a delicious chicken pesto sandwich. The sandwich was very large and took me two days to finish! Their chicken is so fresh and the restaurant itself is a really nice and small location. There are plenty of tables and also plenty of parking. To be clear, Roostr Yard is NOT your typical trendy "hot chicken" establishment. Instead, their preparation involves a 24-hour brining process and then the chicken is grilled to perfection. This process leaves the inside tender & juicy, with the outside crispy & flavorful. Their location is centrally located off of Oceanside Blvd & they're across from the new Frontwave Arena. They have a spacious interior, with plenty of seating for families & groups and they also have covered patio seating outside. I also appreciate that they have mural artwork & decor that honors the landmarks of Oceanside. Although they have parking spaces up front, they share the lot with neighboring businesses, which can sometimes mean parking further down from them. I love their dark meat chicken cuts and also a side plate coconut curry lime rice, and I recommend their wraps, salads or sandwiches that come on a ciabatta. They also now offer protein bowls, which are perfect for my weightlifting goals. Overall, I truly feel that Roostr Yard is a breath of fresh air from the typical trendy chicken spots and I love that I now have an healthier option in them. read more

Fast, efficient and timely. The coconut lime rice is a good sized portion. There were 3 of us and we probably would've been good with the one order that comes with the Whole Chicken Platter. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. From what I understand this is a fairly new restaurant. Wishing them much success as it would be nice to have one closer to our home. Still worth the 30 min drive to try it. Hopefully they'll later have one closer to UTC. Next visit may be a detour from an LA drive. The chicken itself was incredibly well cooked. Some of the sauces were a little oily for my preference, my favorite was the mango lime. The coconut curry rice was a little sweeter than I expected but goes really well with some of the spicier sauces. We actually got the half chicken plate and it was more than enough for two people. It also came with rice and garlic bread. The staff was polite and we went around early dinner time, the seating is not huge but we were not there during a rush so there were a lot of options. I've been wanting to try Roostr Yard for a while now, but I'm old and have a bad memory. I always seem to remember on Fridays when I order from Door Dash and of course I remember during Lent. Chicken on a Friday.... Out. Well I finally remembered this past Friday! I ordered the wings with the herb lemon sauce and some black bean hummus. The wings.... I mean what kind of wings are these? Turkey wings... because they are huge! Not that I'm complaining because really.... Who complains about getting too much food when you order? They were grilled and delicious! The sauce was a little strong and I know this sounds dumb to say, but a little TOO lemon'ish. Not complaining about that either because I know it's a matter of taste. The flavors were dynamic and that is what gains the stars in this place. I loved the chicken sandwich with the mango dressing as it gave both a tangy and sweet taste to the chicken. The chicken was not dry as many places give sandwiches that are grilled and just a dry chicken breast. Overall the other dishes seemed flavorful as my co-workers got coconut chicken and rice and also a salad. The one thing I really wanted to try was the elote Mac n cheese and that was heavy. We came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. There was plenty of parking at the Arroyo Verde Shopping Center (new area). We ordered the boneless place which has two chicken breast plate (no sauce since they marinate it in their own brine and I wanted to try other sauces and not just one) for $14.50, Yard fries (seasoned fries) $4, and a chicken sandwich $14.50. The boneless plate was a bit burnt and dry around the ended, yet it had pretty good flavor inside of it. I was able to try out their various sauces. A plate with two pieces of chicken for $14.50 didn't feel like it was worth it. The fries were flavorful yet served on a small plate. I tasted my husband's chicken sandwich and it was pretty good. Good flavor and the sandwich was evenly balanced, but $14.50 is a bit pricey for a sandwich. If we were to return, I think I would try the 1/4 chicken plate to see if the chicken thigh would be less dry or a salad. The place is a nice quick serve dining with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. read more

Roostr Yard is finally open!! They have everything chicken. Chicken plates, salads with chicken, sandwiches & wraps with chicken, sides and chicken platters. Their take to chicken is a fresh, healthy concept - so you won't find anything fried here! Their chicken is fresh and brined overnight, so any piece you have is super moist and juicy (yes, even the chicken breast - which we all know can sometimes be dry).. We tried: * Coconut curry lime rice. This is my favorite! It's made with sticky rice and so fresh! We heard they sold out on Day 2, and we can clearly see why. I could have it everyday! * Garlic bread is on ciabatta bread and delicious! The garlic is spot on. Subtle and just enough. * Fries are always a good option with kids * 1/2 chicken. Super moist and so fresh. It's good the way it is, but if you want the sauce to compliment it, you have a few options. The staff here is friendly and all smiles. They helped answer all of our questions, and are so personable. An area of opportunity for dining in, is with the sauces on the tables. The sauces are thick and the spout for the containers make it hard to pour out so it gets clogged. We could see everyone, ourselves included - constantly shaking the bottles to get the sauce out. The containers are suitable for oils. We shared this with one of the managers (i think who may have been one of the owners), and he was really open minded about looking into it - which is great! We also couldn't figure out what their hours are, so it'd be a great idea to post that outside the store and (of course) update your yelp profile to include that. This place just opened up not too long ago and I wanted to try it out! I got the 1/4 chicken plate with the thigh/leg and coconut curry lime rice. The chicken was nice and moist. Oh, and I chose the mango lime sauce! Yum Not dry at all! It was tasty. If you want to try other sauces, they had them on the table! I had a pretty decent lunch here! At $15 after tax for 1/4 chicken and a side of rice and drink, so a little pricier. Prices were also posted nowhere in the restaurant or online and the only menu photo I could find with prices was 4 months outdated and menu items were $2 less on that menu than I was actually charged so keep that in mind- the menu item that I ordered (1/4 chicken thigh and breast with rice and drink) was listed at 12.50 on a menu from June, I think I paid 14.50 before tax. Restaurant was fairly busy but there were a couple tables open. Service was friendly and fairly quick, food gets brought out to your table and all the sauces are on the table already. The food though- the chicken and sauces were absolutely heavenly. Like wow, some of the best chicken I've ever had. I wish I just got the chicken alone, because I wasn't a huge fan of the rice- it's a bit too sweet and I don't like the texture of the coconut flakes, almost makes it seem like a dessert. I didn't finish it. The chicken however I picked clean. I would definitely come back here for just the chicken. read more

We ordered quarter chicken, breast and wing. It's not fried chicken. It's grilled and the skin is crispy. I'm a salt lover, I salt without tasting, and there was so much flavor, I did not salt it. The fries were crisp and hot. We also ordered salads. Choice of greens or kale. We got greens. Cherry tomatoes and a nice vinaigrette. Soda fountains or water. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. The food is consistently great and genuinely feels like it's made with love and care every single time -- and the best part is you don't have to spend a ton to eat really well here. I pretty much always have to get the loaded fries because one, they're fantastic! And two, they're only $8!! Their fries are a hit on their own, but once you add that cheese sauce and shredded chicken breast on top, it's basically a full meal for the price of a side. I've also had one of their quinoa bowls, a salad, and a sandwich... all outstanding. I've never had a single weird piece of meat in anything I've ordered, which is honestly pretty incredible for a chicken place. Everything tastes fresh and solid every time. They have six different dipping sauces and I've tried all of them, but I've realized I rarely even use them because the food already comes with enough sauce and flavor on it. I live down the street so I've only ever ordered to go, but the staff has always been kind and friendly, and the wait time is basically nonexistent. They also have a selection of beers if you do decide to dine in (or maybe grab one for the road). Like I said, I really can't hype Roostr Yard enough -- hence all the gushing praise. I decided to stop and grab a healthy lunch and chose Roostr Yard since it was close and convenient. I couldn't be more unhappy at the price and disappointed in the quality of the Kale Salad!!! This is a $18.50 salad, and is nothing special, at all. For this price I was expecting a larger salad with more. It's bed of tough, stale kale and that is mostly what you're buying! As you can see from the photos; total of three cherry tomatoes sliced in half, three awful deep fried things/supposedly Brussels sprouts that taste like old frying oil, and a small portion of partially dry chopped chicken pieces. I had to use all of the side of garlic ranch dressing to be able to eat this. I couldn't even finish it!!! As you can see, the avocado wasn't the best either. The man behind the counter who took my order was kind enough, but then when I was waiting for my order (to go) their kitchen had a really loud timer noise that was like a fire alarm going off. I can't recommend this place to anyone, and I will not be returning. I wish I had looked in the sack before I got home because I would have asked for my money back. This business came to give out some samples during the grand opening at my gym. I grabbed a small wrap on the way out and it was AMAZING!
