Very disappointed with my experience at Maui Hawaiian BBQ. The meat I received tasted sour and had a strange, unpleasant smell. It also didn't look fresh at all and honestly seemed like it had been sitting for too long. I stopped eating it because I was concerned that the meat might have gone bad. Even the sauces/condiments tasted completely different from what I've had at other Maui Hawaiian BBQ locations. I've eaten at this chain before and never experienced anything like this. First time here, we got the number 3 bbq mixed combo and a pineapple mango smoothie. Both were delicious, quick service and friendly staff enough for us to come back. I think I just came at the right time, but I didn't have to wait in line to order and waited under 5 minutes for my food to be ready. I had great and friendly service from all staff members too! Most of the tables were empty so it was easy to find seating for my friend and I. They did have a decent amount of tables available too. After we started eating, the rush definitely came through, but again it seemed like they made the food just as fast for them. I was so happy to find a variety of my favorite Hawaiian Suns, so i definitely had to have one as my drink of choice. I did order the mixed bbq plate as that is one of my go-tos to try different meats. They really loaded the meat and rice which I greatly appreciated. The Mac salad was so small though. It's one of my favorite sides and I really do wish they gave more than 2-3 bites of Mac salad per order. The rice was good, a bit dry but nothing crazy. Absolutely loved their (Kalbi) short ribs, bbq beef, and bbq chicken. Short ribs are usually my favorite and they did not disappoint. I couldn't choose a favorite out of the three meats because they all had potent bbq flavor in each bite and all were cooked to perfection. Practically melts in your mouth when warm. I love to eat half of each of the meats and save the rest for another meal (since they really pack the meat in this order). Not impressed. After waiting 20 minutes they called me up and asked if I wanted brown rice in my spam musbi cause they ran out of rice. Then the chicken kayak was really light like it wasn't cooked long enough and there was no flavor to it. The beef smelled and looked funny and didn't have a lot of the BBQ on it like I was use to. I got my money back for the spam musbi and the rest I saw when I opened the box. Not impressed and not happy with the food. Not sure what time you close but either make more rice or tell the people prior to you taking an order you are out of stuff this way I can choose something else for dinner instead of something that was unsatisfactory. Before coming here I asked a few employees of the neighboring stores I had visited and got mixed reviews with one person actually saying it is hit or miss. I loved it. I ordered the mixed Bbq plate, beef, chicken and Hawaiian short ribs (kalbi), all for $12.50 pre tax. The beef was my favorite. But I enjoyed it all. Everything was fresh and juicy. The flavor was perfect Hawaiian plate lunch flavor complete with 1 scoop Mac salad and 2 scoops rice. It was enough for three (ladies for sure) but a grown man can probably eat all of it especially the meat. I ordered mine without extra sauce on top because I don't like that thicker sauce people tend to top off teriyaki with but prefer to enjoy with the sauce it's marinated and grilled with. The kitchen staff looked Korean so may actually have Hawaiian influence. They have tables inside and out with lots of social distancing. Not all tables inside were available just about 4-5. So I roll up excited for some Hawaiian comfort food, right? I order a small plate and a large plate because I was ready to feast like a whole luau was happening in my hotel room. Turns out, the only thing "large" was my disappointment. Both plates had the exact same sad scoop of rice and Mac salad like they just hit "copy + paste" on my order. Speaking of the Mac salad... normally that's my MVP, the reason I show up, the creamy carb hug I've been dreaming of. We called the order in for pick up and it was hot and ready when we arrived. The problem was the food, they are not an authentic hawaiian food. The Katzu was ok but dry. It did come with generous portions for the price and had 2 scoops of white rice and a small container of macaroni salad. The big issue was really the Garlic Shrimp? This was not Garlic Shrimp, this was fried shrimp on a bed of cabbage with scallions and garlic or something grated over the top. This was not Garlic Shrimp and I checked menu for another type of shrimp to see if maybe the order was incorrect. Went here for the first time, and the food was delicious. 1. Garlic shrimp - so crunchy and juicy. Not what I was expecting but very ono. I was expecting the garlic shrimp scampi where you have to peel the shrimp. 2. Garlic chicken - Definitely, enjoy eating food when I can get all messy even with something as simple as this. 3. Loco moco- very interesting to me that the sauce was separate. I definitely appreciate that I can pour the sauce myself but I honestly like my loco moco drenched in gravy. The worst Hawaiian BBQ I've ever had. The Kahlúa pork was filled with bay leaves, which I've never experienced when ordering this dish. Anyways, the flavor of the bay leaves was over bearing & disgusting, I didn't take more than 4 bites before I threw it away. Also I asked for no cabbage, which is probably why they wrapped it in foil, but there was still cabbage mixed in it. Additionally, I received my order in a bag that was filled with the pork's juice so the takeout boxes were soaked in it. The spam musubi was okay, it didn't taste horrible, but you can just tell by the way the seaweed looks it's not fresh. The rice tasted alright, but it was hard enough to literally snap the plastic fork in half lmfao. So it wasn't close to being soft. I'm never coming here again, I'm so mad I wasted my money on getting this delivered for lunch. Guess that's what I get for cheating on L&L. read more

I'd rate this place a zero but I can't. I've been cleaning all day and I wanted some take out. This isn't my first time ordering from this place but they've disappointed me more than a few times now so I'm writing this review. Not only they got my orders wrong more than a few times now. The food quality is not so great. The kalua pork was dry and no cabbage. They messed up my loco moco. How do you not put gravy and eggs?! How do you mess that up? It's hilarious to the point where I don't have the energy to even get mad. And when I called to let them know, the guy in the end didn't seemed like he cared. It was the same guy I talked to on the phone when I ordered. My sister picked up the food for me and she told me the customer service working in the counter was pretty rude as well. Sad because I've been going to this spot for over 5 years now. I wonder if management has changed? The service was never this awful. And the girl in the front does not know customer service throws the chili paste they do have at you so rude....... Girl in green frog hat in the front needs to learn some customer service skills. This has been our favorite Hawaiian spot, we come down from Orange county for this food but might have to bring our own sauce apparently or just forget about coming here. Yes, you can also get the usual katsu sauce too. Folks, if the katsu is junk, everything is going to be junk. Thankfully, katsu was good - could've been thicker - but, that's just me. Today I preferred the curry sauce over the katsu sauce. Why?? Katsu sauce was too sweet (imo). BBQ combo plate was passable. Sliced teriyaki meat was dry and grisly - although, flavor was decent. Kalbi ribs (3pcs) had good flavor but was on the dry side. (it should be succulent) Was it reheated?? Aaaaagh! Teriyaki chicken was the best of all three meats. Moist, tender and good char flavor. Just defers a-little from the other spots; L&L/Ohanas however the menu needs to be updated or the manager needs to understand what is being ordered. I had ordered simple items. Simple ... Eggs. Spam. Rice. - item #1 BBQ mix combo. - item # 2 Im not sure how she was able to mess this order up. Bbq combo was good no complaints. But the spam eggs n rice was not even worth it. She substituted the "spam" for "spam mussubi " for some interesting reason she looked confused placing my order. But told me she was trying to "see how she could do it" Didn't think much of it. Maybe it wasn't in their system. The other spot has a plate called ' spam-eggs&rice- popular plate'. I was really disappointed to find out that she subbed it for the damn musubi. On top of that she gave me old spam from the previous day. You can tell because it was old and hard. Upcharge 11$ for old spam musubi and eggs?? No thank you. I ordered online for pickup and i got the spam musubi, chicken musubi, and the manapua pork buns and when i arrived it looked pretty busy yet the cashier had a positive attitude and was welcoming! As for the food the spam musubi was tasty and it didn't taste too salty, but the chicken musubi was ok it didn't have much flavor nonetheless it still tasted good! My favorite part about this order was definitely the manapua pork buns they were absolutely delicious!! I was unsure about getting the buns because I wasn't sure how it would taste as it was my first time trying them but I was amazed and pleased with how well they tasted!
