I didn't like the blueberry lemonade either, it didn't taste like blueberries and it wasn't very sweet. The mango one was better. The "boneless wings" were just tenders that had been torn apart. Meh, the quality and service has suffered a bit here so I need to update my review. During and immediately after the Lockdown this Popeye's location was super convenient and the food and service were the bomb! Extra care was put into the orders by the workers and the chicken was always fresh and hot. Fast forward to today when I dropped over $40 in the drive-thru to pick up lunch for me and my surfing bro. Two side items that I paid for were completely missing from the order, the cashier was grumpy, unfriendly, and she didn't give me my receipt. What's more the chicken was dried out, slightly mushy, and tasted like it had been reheated from the day before. I mean I know it's fast-food and all but you're also paying a premium price for this food. This location really has to step up its game, especially with Dave's Hot Chicken, Angry Chickz, and Zzang Chicken now open close by. Honorable mention also goes to Main Chick Hot Chicken and Felix's BBQ for their scrumptious Alabama Fried Chicken. I was trying hard to choose a "junk food" place because I needed a quick meal. I chose Popeye's because it's close by. Skeptical that they could produce the right order, I went inside instead of the drive up. I ordered a 4 - four - piece large dinner which has a leg, wing, thigh and breast. A very sweet, young girl helped me (great service) and a new employee fulfilled my order. I should have checked, but it was bundled nicely in its bag. When I got home, I only got 3 pieces. 2 thighs and a ratty looking leg. I was so mad because there was no breast, no wing, and the leg had its shortcomings. My gal was also mad that she took the box back to the shop with the receipt. She was met with a luke warm response. They gave her a breast, but kept the leg and did not give her a wing. I still only got three pieces when I paid for a 4 piece dinner. It was a lame response and bad customer service. Had two bad similar visits in a row. This review is about my most recent. Went around 820-30pm. Ordered 5 piece tenders large combo, 2 chicken wraps classic, chicken dippers, and 2 lemonades for roughly $50. Got the drinks and was told to drive to the front. Waited at the front and saw a few other people waiting too. Waited about 15 min before i went inside to check on my order. The order printer had 7-8 tickets hanging from the printer and 4 employees in the kitchen. It took a few minutes before i was offered assistance and i let them know im waiting on a drive through order and they left to check out the situation. My order hasnt been touched yet and the order pad said their average order time was 15 minutes. I was told they did not have spicy tenders and i would have to wait 6-7 minutes for it to come out, i told them just give me classic. The person who i believe was the manager went to get my order together and i over heard her yell at the fry cook. It looked like the fry cook dropped the ball because the only chicken available was classic. No spice or flavor could be seen anywhere, i would have thought i was at KFC. As the manager was getting the rest of my order she told me they were out of dippers abd i would have to wait 10 minutes. At this point ive already waited 25 minutes, i did not expect this trip to take so long and I had frozen stuff in my car. They told me i could replace it with anything on the menu so i just took the boneless chicken wings and left. I go home to check out the bag and they didnt give me the large sides the gave me small and the boneless chicken wings didnt look anything close to what was advertised on their menu. This is so annoying and unacceptable since I had not order through the drive through and they told me to park in front of of the store because the food wasn't ready, saying they would bring it out. Been waiting for almost 15 minutes so I go to walk in to ask where my food is and again the door is locked. Happy to have a Popeyes so close to coastal Oceanside. Clean, fast and accurate. I was shocked at the customer service - you could feel the training and intention. Very genuine. I wish the speaker box wasn't 2 cars away from the window, not a great drive thru design but nevertheless it ensured our food was given to us hot. You can get country or spicy chicken. I get to the register and a young guy with a lot of hair helped me. He was great and on top of things, I told him what I wanted and he suggested a combo which was a better deal. The wings were the only thing of normal size. The sign said this meal would feel 3 to 4 people. That would be true if the people eating were children. My wife is petite and she ate 4 pieces of chicken. I ate the other 4. The plain chicken was over cooked. The spicy was actually good. However the legs were no more than 4 inches long and three bites worth.The thighs were 4 bites and done. Sara the manager convinced me not to trust her leadership or her staff. I ordered multiple sides of mashed potatoes and gravy that came with no gravy. It bummed out everyone I bought them for as we had been talking about our orders for hours while returning on a roadtrip and her store getting it wrong was like giving hungry people who ordered a sandwich and were given only slices of bread. But Sara didn't seem to care when I uncharacteristically returned the next day with the untouched potatoes sans gravy. She rolled her eyes in a "not again" way and she just shrugged her shoulders when she said she wouldn't correct the order. I've worked in hospitality for 30 years and recognize professional apathy and managerial incompetence when it shows itself and Sara's behavior showed me I cannot trust her to meet other professional expectations like food safety and customer service. But as fate would have it, I was in the area, and I really wanted some chicken and decided to gamble. This time (7:30ish) was different from the last though and I have I have to give them credit because it was a great experience. Ordered nuggets and tenders and both were lightly crispy and hot and very juicy on the inside. Fries were hot, lightly crispy and flavorful on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Biscuit was hot and lightly flaky. In short, food was as good as it gets, the drive thru line was short, the visit at the window was short as well and the staff looked motivated and took care of business.
