This is one of our neighborhood Chinese restaurants, and one of the best. The dishes are all classic American, East Coast, style Chinese food. I must give them major props for the incredibly quick turn around when placing an order -- like magic ! Their dishes are always so fresh, tons of veggies, huge portions, pipping hot, very tasty. So far, we like to order the veggie wonton soup (A++++), Singapore Mei Fun, Shrimp w/veggies, Chicken with garlic sauce, Egg Foo Young, etc., etc. Their prices are very reasonable to boot. It's okay. I came to Main Moon looking for dinner and found it at Main moon. This is your typical chinese restaurant in a strip mall (specifically next to a publix shopping center) that seems to have good reviews, so I figured why not? We got an order of braised wings with fried rice ($5.75) as well as an order of General Tso's chicken with white rice ($9.45). A veggie eggroll came on the house. So how was the food here? I ate the general tso's chicken, which I was hoping to be somewhat crispy, light and bursting with flavor. Sadly, this one was more heavy, sweet and not much in the way of flavor, outside of the sweet. The veggie eggroll was a nice freebie, and while it was crispy on the outside, the flavor wasn't there either. I didn't get a chance to taste the braised wings but I was told they weren't bad. The interior of Main moon is nice, clean, with a big flat screen television. Service is nice and quick, getting the order prepped and in hand in less than 10 minutes. Parking at Main moon is no problem, being a shared lot with a publix grocery store, and since it was fairly empty when I went in, I walked right up and ordered immediately. It's decent chinese food that probably is a solid go to if you live around here, but making a special trip just may be out of the question. Still, it's a mom and pop that's doing something right. If you're looking for the ignorant chicken wing pork fry rice, shrimp n broccoli, shrimp w lobster sauce, shrimp n garlic sauce, general tso, house special rice or subgum rice-- THIS IS IT. This place could be uplifted and moved to Flatbush and fit right in. if you're looking for THIS type of Chinese, Main Moon is IT. It does not dissapoint the unrefined non-China town NYC chinese palate. EL Cheapo- Combo plates come w Chicken Fried Rice and your choice of many options for $7 and that includes Wonton soup or Crab rangoon or Egg rolls. Generous portions and nice staff. The wifey had an extreme and inexplicable craving for Chinese-American food last week and I, also inexplicably, chose to get dinner from here as well. After searching local C-A food joints, this one came up as the highest rated. I drove over and placed an order. The place had a steady stream of people waiting for take out and one family eating in. As soon as I walked in, the familiar smell of old and greasy peanut oil struck me. Disclaimer: I despise C-A food; it runs right through me and I feel like garbage afterwards. I no longer get hungry after 30 minutes, but feel pretty grossed out instead. I don't like how it smells (all dishes smell the same: super greasy and garlicky) or taste (greasy and garlicky). My beef and snow peas entrée was on top of fried rice, with a side of wonton soup. This is known as the combo plate. The taste was as expected, not particularly pleasant nor offensive. It fills the tummy. The food would get a 3 star, and the 4 stars is due to the value proposition: I got 6 wontons in my soup! And there was no way I was gonna finish the meal in one sit down! Definitively 1.5 meals for less than $10. Now that's value. If you like typical C-A food, you will be very full and have plenty of change left in your pocket! read more

Holy Tso! This place is like the Taco Bell of Chinese food....it's hot, fast, cheap and you don't want anyone to ever catch you in there. I LOVE MAIN MOON! Literally the only reason that they don't have 5 stars from me is that they don't offer delivery or the ability to order online. I no longer live in the area, BUT when I am craving Chinese food, I will still drive WAY out of my way to come all the way to Main Moon. They are worth the drive from Midtown. They do not use MSG, everything is fresh and made to order, I never find gristle in my chicken which is my biggest complaint with most establishments, and they don't overcharge you for everything. A large rice is like $8 instead of $12-$15. The pork fried rice is ROAST PORK fried rice which is so hard to find in this city and something I really prefer to just regular pork fried rice. My grandmother who is from the Bronx has stated that this is the closest thing she's had to Chinese food from home since she left. I would definitely recommend Main Moon. The moment I can order my pickup order online, I will change my rating to 5 stars. I wouldn't expect to be able to get my order delivered to Midtown...although, that would be nice LOL :-) read more

They give you a lot of food when you order the general tso chicken and it is very good, other things sometimes have more veggie than meat.

The juicy strips of crab meat were visible in the crab Rangoon. I had to bite two corners of the wonton off in order to get to the filling, but the contrast was worth it. My date liked these and he typically hates anything with cream cheese. I got the roast pork lo mein and he got the sweet and sour chicken. Getting my car window fixed across the street and I was hungry so I walked across the street and saw this place. Was not expecting it to be so good and FAST. I had the triple delight hunan extra spicy and it was honestly probably one of the best ones I have had to date. It's very rare a dish containing chicken, beef and shrimp to be cooked well, but every protein was so incredibly tender and delicious. Veggies were still slightly crisp which I love. Didn't try the fried rice since I'm trying to be good but did have some wonton soup and that was really good. Might have to come around more often just to get their food. SO and I stopped by here a few weeks ago, craving some chinese but really turned off by the change of management and food quality by Golden Sun, we stopped by here. It's a bare bones type of cafe, enough booths and tables for diners, but they really do more take out and delivery. SO had to try their Gen. Tso's and I got their happy family. The food portions are huge for the price, and the veggies were excellently cooked, crisp with a slight crunch and very fresh! All the combos come with your choice of crab rangoon or eggroll. Main Moon serves their meals in clear top black containers - a tell all sign for good Chinese. From their egg drop soup to their beef and broccoli and sesame chicken. I love this place. When I was living in the area before I got married, this was my go-to takeout place. After living in Lawrenceville for about 4 years, I've moved back to Tucker and ordered some late night eats. It's still just as good! They are very nice here, and food is made quick and fresh. There is a Main Moon in Lawrenceville also, on Hwy 29 in the Ingles shopping center (not sure if it's a chain?) that we used to go a lot that was also very good. Will be back for sure :) read more

This place has some tasty dishes and a few things that weren't as good. Some of the good is their fried rice and soups. The noodle dishes are also above average.I have eaten there 4 times and each time the food comes out quickly and it is temperature wise fresh and hot. Some of the things that didn't work for me so much were the crab ragoons and the kung pao chicken or tofu. Those dishes felt very oily and there were vegetables in the dish not listed on the menu.The prices are great and they have fantastic lunch specials. We have gotten take out from this place probably a dozen times over the past year after trying a few other Chinese takeout places in the area and being disappointed. Just to be clear, this is not authentic Chinese food, this is American Chinese Food, which is delicious in its own greasy, MSG-filled way (they claim no MSG, but I don't care). When we want authentic Chinese food, we go somewhere else. The portions are huge, so 1 dinner sized entree will supply at least 2 meals. You can see into the kitchen from the counter and it looks like a serious-industrial kitchen ready to pump out pounds of delicious General Tso's chicken. I'm usually pleased with my order. I went there due to a craving I was having for fried wonton. I decided to also get an entree (shrimp with broccoli in spicy garlic sauce) since I was there. Well big mistake! The wontons were a lil overcooked, still were edible. Not bad. But the entree another story. The shrimps were mushy, the garlic had the aroma but no taste, just as the spice level of the entree, not present. The fried rice was also mushy & just didn't taste right. Surprisingly, the broccoli was ok, a lil undercooked & a few pieces had black stuff on the stems like they might've been going bad before cooking. I'm trying to find something I liked about this waste of $15 purchase. Overall a waste of money & calories. Probably why I stopped eating there in the first place. read more
