Advanced Appliance Service - Unit in crawl space left this way by techs

I had many service calls via my home warranty company for repairs to my old heat pump system. For the most part, those went fine as well. When my heat pump finally died, I went through my home warranty company to get a new one. Advanced was contracted to do the work. They came to look at my system and measure everything to make sure they got the right size air handler for the little niche mine sat in, and all that. As we were walking around my house looking at the vents and air returns, I was informed that I did not have enough air returns, and they would need to cut some more holes in my walls to run more duct work. They also said that because my air handler was in my garage, it was required that I have a protective post installed. These all added to the total cost of the new system. They came to do the work, and I paid the bill. I did not get more air returns and I did not get a protective post installed. I should have said something right then, but I had a lot going on in my life and didn't want to have to fight for my money back. I really should have. They also replaced my really nice thermostat with an industrial model. They didn't even set it up right, because it was in contractor mode, and I was unable to set it. I had to have a guy come back out to get it working right. They took my thermostat with them, they didn't even leave it for me.

While waiting for them, Wagner provided a loaner washer with a hole in the discharge hose, which flooded our basement. When our new washer arrived, a pipe was broken during installation, flooding the basement a second time and forcing us to shut off water to the entire house. Then our new dryer required 2-3 hour-long cycles to dry clothes. When we called, we were met with defensiveness and blame, including suggestions that our venting might be the problem. Wagner installed the vent. And the vent WAS the problem. Their hose was cramped/restricted behind the dryer. Once corrected, the dryer worked perfectly. The customer service was worse than the mistakes. We actually drove to the store because of how rude the phone interaction had become. The salesperson was so argumentative that he eventually said, "I guess I'll just stop talking until you tell me it's okay." Later the manager sent photos "for our documentation." I responded with my before photos showing Wagner's original vent installation. He asked if my husband still wanted a call; we scheduled it for the next day. He never called. Mistakes happen. Two floods and a bad vent installation are frustrating, but what earned one star was the defensiveness and lack of basic accountability afterward. I chose a local dealer because I want businesses like Wagner to exist. I hope they improve, because customer service shouldn't feel like a schoolyard fight. Sometimes "We're sorry. Let's get this fixed" is all that's needed.

After the service visit, the ice maker still did not work. Before the repair, I explained that I was in a dispute with the refrigerator manufacturer over the ice maker and needed a detailed invoice describing the work performed and any parts replaced. Mr. Decker assured me he would provide that documentation, but he never did. I contacted the company by text on June 17, June 19, and June 21 requesting assistance, but received no response. I then sent a detailed email on June 23 requesting a response within two business days. That email also went unanswered. I understand that not every repair is successful on the first visit. However, what I cannot understand is the complete lack of communication after multiple attempts to reach the company. A simple acknowledgment or update would have gone a long way. Because the repair did not resolve the problem, the promised documentation was never provided, and my repeated requests for follow-up went unanswered, I have no choice but to hire another repair service. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company.
