BE WARNED, The owner is dishonest and unaccountable. Not qualified IMO to work on closed system air suspension systems - F rating on BBB. I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee. My service air suspension light came on a couple times in early Feb so I immediately looked into getting it fixed. Feb 4th, an inspection at Main St Automotive revealed I had air leaks in my right front and rear shock and strut assembly.  After talking to the dealer (who had parts on backorder) I spoke to Main Street again, further inquiring about their expertise. They assured me that they work on all the premium cars with air lift suspension all the time and were very well qualified to do the work. Andrei O, the owner, and I had a long discussion about the importance of buying factory OEM Mopar Parts although they were more expensive. I had been looking at alternative parts sellers (Mopar branded available for $800-1000) but Andre convinced me these sites would be fraudulent and that they would only use Mopar genuine OEM parts. He advised against buying anything anywhere outside of Mopar direct as they'd be fake. He gave me a long story about how he used to work there and knew the GM personally. He sent me the factory link where the parts were priced at $2281.25. Although the bid of Main Street Automotive was more expensive, I authorized them to do the work. I brought the car in on Feb 5 for the service for which Andrei said he had the parts in stock. At 4pm Feb 5th the front desk girl called to tell me "the car is finished and ready for pick up". I arrived to pick it up at the appointed time and Andrei advised that 1) they had just started reprogramming the computer and 2) it could take up to an hour to complete. After waiting 30 minutes with no visible progress, I had to leave for a family affair. They kept the car another day, and advised that they had to open a case with a master technician to resolve the reprogramming. After working with their "master technician", Feb 6th the front desk called back near end of the day and advised "the car was done and ready for payment and pick up" (again).  I immediately paid $3300 in cash in good faith. The car immediately failed while driving off the property. Ultimately the vehicle was taken to the dealer by Main St. to correct the problem, but the diagnostic given to the dealer was incomplete, testing only the top 2 ride heights of which there are 5. The car still did not work correctly in aerodynamic or exit/entry mode. Andrei advised they did not initially have the proper high speed cable required to complete the job. Main St, I learned, can also not complete this job without nitrogen from the  dealer. Main Street Auto then advised I should get all further work completed at the dealer. Their OWN STAFF advised the car was unsafe to drive in its current condition. THEY COULD NOT COMPLETE THE JOB that I paid for. When the dealership received the car again, the master technician (38 years) at the dealer advised that the computer had been reprogrammed incorrectly with the rear suspension ride height improperly set so the rear was always elevated. They asked me "why did Main Street Auto attempt to reprogram it at all, the replacement of shocks/struts and air suspension requires no reprogramming"? I called to discuss this with Main St. after it was shared by the dealership and the front desk guy put me on hold for 10 minutes for "an emergency with the boss". When he returned, told me that the only thing the shop did was check the calibration numbers (an evasive reversal of facts). He said "any remote reprogramming was done by someone offsite". I asked who that was and he would only tell me "someone in their network" and then quickly rushed me off of the phone. The dealer continued to advise that they NEVER adjust the computer under ANY circumstances from factory settings unless it is a brand new computer because it is a challenging calculation process and CANNOT BE DONE remotely. Of principle concern, the master tech at the dealership shared that the cheaper AFTERMARKET PARTS used could be part of the issue. This came as a shock after Andrei pushed so hard for Mopar parts and sent me the exact link and price for them. The dealership also notified me of OLD parts used in the repair. The owner is simply deceitful. Refused to take calls for over a week until I threatened action. I'm certain Andrei will reply w/ how they went "above and beyond" but believe me when I tell you it will be full of half truths and poor handling of a job they were unqualified to do for while charging me for OEM and using discount and used parts, obvious to the dealership. Came in for an alignment. Shops website states they will give you a ride within 5 miles if your car will be at shop all day. When I asked about this service, not only do they not offer it, I got an attitude by the owner about why they cannot afford to offer. Then take it off your website!! Alignment rack went down and they wanted to keep my car overnight and finish car in the morning. When I mentioned I use this car for work and need to pick it up, again I received attitude from the owner. Was told the car would be dangerous to drive. This simply is not true, car tracks straight and drives fine. Yes alignment is off but certainly not dangerous. Instead of apologizing, and offering some type of concession for the inconvenience, I get an attitude. I will go back to my usual Trackspec Auto for my custom alignments. They are further and a bit more expensive but you get what you pay for. They always hit my exact alignment specs and take no more than 3 hours to complete. Decided to go out on a limb to find a good shop closer to home but sadly no luck. read more

I rarely write reviews, but this needs to be said. These guys returned my car in worse shape than the way it was when I brought it in! I brought my Tesla Model X to Main Street Automotive because the driver's side door wasn't working properly. Based on my own research, the issue seemed to be related to the door latch sensor--the car was reading the door as open even when it was closed. I chose this shop hoping for a more personal, trustworthy experience than going directly to Tesla. Unfortunately, that was not the case. They charged me $250 for a diagnosis and claimed the issue was the door handle assembly--not what I suspected. I paid a $150 deposit for them to order the part. A few days later, they called and admitted it might actually be the latch sensor after all--exactly what I had said from the beginning. Not only was the initial diagnosis wrong, but when I picked up the car after the diagnostic visit, the door's auto-close motor was no longer working. I suspect they disabled it on purpose (likely to prevent damage while misdiagnosing the problem), but they didn't mention this at all. When I finally brought it up, they told me it "stopped working after a software update"--which means they KNEW they broke it, but didn't want to tell me about it until I asked them about it weeks later when I picked it up. When the latch sensor part finally came in, they told me it was the wrong one due to my vehicle being an older model. They said they had to reorder it, but the correct part would now cost almost double. If I didn't want to move forward, they wouldn't refund the deposit or the diagnostic fee--even though they hadn't actually fixed anything. They later realized how wrong they were for charging me for them to return my car in worse shape than I had brought it and refunded the money, but instead of hoping that I don't say anything about the door motor they know they broke they SHOULD hold themselves accountable for it and they blamed Tesla for it! This whole process was frustrating, inconvenient, and handled very poorly. They caused me to have to drive with the car like this for weeks more than I should have, misdiagnosed the problem, broke a working feature, and were dishonest about it until confronted them. I wouldn't trust this shop again and can't recommend them to anyone--especially if you drive a Tesla. Very disappointed read more

I called to get a quote on a simple APR tune. The lady that answered the phone just said hello. I asked if this was Main Street Automotive and she said yes. I told her I wanted to quote on an APR tune for a Volkswagen and she said a what? Hold on. Put me on hold and then picked up the phone again and said hello. I said hi. She said can I help you. I said you just put me on hold. And she said oh yes for a Volkswagen, what tune or something? I hung up the phone and looked elsewhere and got other quotes. A shop in San Jose in the shop in Sacramento both told me there was no labor charge since they're simply hooking up to a laptop. I just pay the price of the tune, it takes less than an hour, Thank you very much. I decided to go back again and try and get a quote here since it's so close. When I finally got a hold of a human being, I was asked with Attitude what exactly I wanted quoted? The price of the tune is on the website and labor is 225... and it would take a few hours. I told him very good, that is a quote. At 225 for labor to hook up to a laptop is crazy when other honest shops have told me what it should be. One shop was even honest enough to tell me it's so easy I should just do it at home myself and that's what I'm going to do. This guy is a cash Grabber and whoever he has working the desk is clearly not even competent enough to operate a phone much less your car. Edit. Look how defensive this guy is. And 250 to hook up a flash when APR runs deals with authorized shops for no labor cost (2 in my area alone) is proof these guys aren't in it for the customer. And no. We didn't speak because the lady on the phone couldn't figure out how to connect a call. I only got a text after I asked for a human to contact me multiple times. read more

I was here previously months ago and I had talked to Michael (no longer works here) but he was open and honest, made sure I was knowledgeable about the services I actually needed, but most importantly valued my budget and not someone trying to take my money. My brakes were going to need services done soon at that time and after going to 6 different shops looking on Yelp to Google and calling a bunch of places for a quote I knew I was going to come back here. Not just because of the price but also because Michael was helpful, insightful, honest but not pushy. Fast forward to today I needed to get my 2016 Honda Accord brakes and rotors done, spark plugs/valve leak, and front headlight replaced. I raised a concern that I took my car to sooo many places, cheap auto shops to big brands like big o tires. My impression was uncomfortable. Bad services were done previously and the prices are not worth the quality or will try to take advantage of me. I've never had a good experience with an auto shop especially as someone with little to none knowledge about cars . The owner made sure to ensure my comfortability as well as peace of mind knowing no shady things will happen. He was open, honest, honorable, and straightforward. I could tell that he holds himself, his staff, and his shop to a HIGH STANDARD. Answered my questions. I could tell he loves what does and most importantly values his customers. He values their time, budget, and the service they provide when someone trusts them with their vehicle. And that is what I experienced. My dealership messed up on my brakes before(I had to get towed from on the way to Sacramento to San Jose) and they had to accommodate me (which is a hassle and is scary especially since we were on the freeway) and I've went to a cheap Groupon oil change before (and never again shaded me and someone else) so my trust in mechanics was not there and I've went to auto shops with a guard. It was important for me to know that I was getting a good value for the service being done on my car, finding someone I can trust with my car and my money, and walking away with peace of mind. This is my new go to place for services for sure. It's not 'cheap' per say but it's affordable and not some raised price that other big brand retailers will upsell to $1,000 more especially when my dealership charged a big amount but lost my trust by not properly inspecting my vehicle and having to have the hassle of going back to them for something they did not properly do. The process was easy and Main Street automotive gave me an option to decline or approve a service before being done through a link they text me. The pictures and the information of the inspection gave me an idea of when I needed something right away and when I didn't. I can't stress how easy, affordable (not cheap but not a crazy ridiculous amount like big brand dealerships or retailers), and how honorable this place is. I respect the owner for how his standards are for his shop. My car feels good to drive again and I feel even better knowing I trusted this place with my vehicle. I took my brand new Tesla Model S to Main Street Automotive after it spontaneously started pulling to the right. I was able to get a same-day appointment for an alignment even though they were extremely busy. Given that my car is a Tesla with some unique handling requirements, I was a little apprehensive about dropping it off. Upon arriving, I noticed that there were several Teslas being worked on so that gave me a little peace of mind. Main Street Auto found it to be way out of spec on a couple of alignment parameters and dialed it in for me. It drives perfectly straight now. Also, I had just washed my car prior to bringing it into Main Street Auto and when I picked it up, I couldn't find a single fingerprint or any evidence that someone had been in it. They were either careful enough not to leave prints/grease all over it or they cared enough to remove that kind of stuff before I picked it up. Either way, I'm pleased with the outcome. The only knock I would give Main Street is that the front lobby was unattended when I dropped off the car but I'm assuming that is due to me being there at their busiest time of day. That and the fact that their location can be a logistical challenge but as long as the car gets dealt with in a professional manner, it's all good. read more

When I brought my car to the new mechanic he let me take these photos & showed me that it was not the rust, they broke it & should of payed for it. As a computer shy individual, I rarely leave reviews but after more than a year after getting my car fixed by Andrei and his staff and being grateful everyday I drive my car, I just had to write this review with my appreciation! I brought my car into Main Street at the recommendation of a local tire store for an alignment since my car felt like it was continually swerving. After their alignment equipment determined that my car was already perfectly aligned, they were able to diagnose the actual problem ("Suspension Strut and Coil Spring Assembly") and as a result, I've been able to drive my car safely and with confidence. My car handles so well now even in windy, stormy weather and that is a huge relief to me. Btw, this "fix" was after years of multiple, expensive alignments with no other resolutions other than my car was too old and maybe should be replaced. I now have a working, safe car! I took my car into this auto repair shop at the recommendation of one of the local tire stores to do an alignment, as I had just purchased new tires. After they had put the car onto their alignment equipment, they came into the waiting area to tell me that the car was finished, but after they had checked everything they determined that the car did not need an alignment. So, "I was ready to go, with no charge". That tells me that this is an honest place--they could easily have said that they had aligned the car and charged me, but they did not. I will definitely return in the future. I think they do quite a few additional types of auto repair beyond alignments. read more

My 2002 Xterra 4x4 needed two ball joints, two sway bars, two control arms, and my alternator replaced. The last one was the alternator which failed on the morning I was driving into MSA to drop off my suv, even though I had set the appointment the week before. In total they kept it for a week because the age of the suv along with some rusted on parts added to the length. Although they had planned to have it back on that Friday morning it wasn't going to be ready until later into the day. I had an in person doctor appointment that I couldn't miss so they graciously gave me a no charge loaner so I could make it to my appointment in San Ramon. By the time I returned my suv was ready. I could feel the handling had improved as well as the subtlety of road feel through the steering wheel when doing hard turns. We recently needed a near by repair shop for our older Subaru Forester, and Main Street Automotive did a great job repairing our power steering so it was like new. Then last week a headlight went out, and we ordered new bulbs from Amazon to try to save money. But when they arrived my husband found that he couldn't get the rubber seal off to install it. It was late on a Friday afternoon, and we didn't want to have a headlight out driving over the weekend. So we called Main Street Automotive and left a message. Then we called our local dealer where we bought the car and they said we could bring it in and they would take care of it without an appointment. But when we got there three guys were standing around and said they could install the bulb, but it would be $65. When we said it should only take 2 minutes, they agreed, but said they had no choice but to charge us for "insurance reasons" and that normally they charge $110 for replacing a headlight. So we left and dropped by Main Street Automotive hoping they were still there. Andrei, the owner, was there and said he could help us. He didn't charge us and even advised that we should save the 2nd bulb as a spare since the other one was still working, and that the old bulb might last longer than the new one. Everything in this mechanic shop is fake and lie, I just went for an oil change and they charged me almost $300 Andrei told me we checked all parts and everything is good to go so the next day my tire light got on and I thought it is because of air pressure but I wait 2 days it didn't turn off, I called to the mechanic shop and they guy told me to bring your car, I drove my car there and Andrei was so rude to me he didn't let me talked he just wanted me to listen to his nonsense and yell at me to leave we don't want to do anything it is not in our hand it is the weather, you need tire but a day before he told me that your car is in perfect condition and no need. He looked like he had grown up in an animal toilet the way he spoke to me. Please don't go to this shop, they will damage some parts for you to return to them. Andrei is unprofessional and doesn't have customer service just over charges. read more
