Was stranded in SF around 8 pm on Sunday, June 25. Car no crank no start no windows operation AAA towed the car to Walnut Creek home garage. Went to WC MBZ dealer and said need to replace ESL...(a ton of paperwork) and got a quote with parts labor key programming (time frame around a week or so)$2400/$2900???!!! Hmm..decided to check out another place that can handle that type of work- "NICK"S Mercedes" is pretty much close to that estimate. Ask for KC. You will talk to Ivette who seems to be the boss. She is an excellent communicator and KC is as well. Star is lucky to have a team like that as that industry is known for screw ups. Probably the most important point is that you avoiding outrageous dealer pricing for this work with never leaving your house. Is that even possible? Yes. Besides the cost benefit, the time saved is unreal. It takes about the same time to have the rotors replaced at home than it does just to check in at the dealer, not to mention drive time and the time to complete the work there. Last time I needed brakes I used Brake Busters which was also a five star experience but they ditched their mobile service. Seems like a no brainer to offer mobile service or cut the overhead and be entirely mobile service based but what do I know? read more

Fast service and quality work. I took my car to the dealership for an oil change, general inspection and tire rotation. The dealership tried to upsell saying that I needed new brakes and rotors on all four tires to the tune of over $1300 for the work. Star Mobile came to my house the next day and let me know ow it was only the front brakes and rotors that needed repair and the back brakes and rotors still had another 15-20K miles left before needing replacement. Save your money and do not use this business. I just had the worst experience. The lady on the phone was professional and explained everything in detail. I needed new back brakes and resurfacing of rotors. She explained they do not resurface rotors and I'd have to buy new ones if the mechanic thought I needed new ones. So she gave me a price of about $570 for back brakes and new rotors. I opted for the mobile service and this is where it got ugly. The mechanic came to the house and as he was walking to my car he immediately said I needed new rotors (without touching them first). So then he brought out one new set of brakes and rotors out to show me. He placed them on the ground. He asked for the locking lug nut for my tires and he and I couldn't find them anywhere. He said for him to use his own tool and break them off would be an additional $100. Now I'm at $670! I thought it was too much. I told him I was going to wait or see if I could find the part. He then became outraged and told me how it cost him $40 in gas to get from concord to pleasanton. He also said that I owed him some sort of monetary compensation for his trouble. I told him I didn't sign an agreement of any sort and I would not be paying him. He asked me for money again and I said no. He then got in his car and stormed out of my neighborhood...leaving the brand new rotor and brakes in my driveway! I then put it in my garage in case he came back. Sure enough he comes back 10min later and nicely asks for it. I gladly gave it back to him. Today, I went to Big O in pleasanton and experienced exceptional customer service. They also said I did not need new rotors and my price out the door for my new brakes was $289! This mechanic working for this company is a total crook!!! read more

He came thinking he would be doing just one set of pads, and ended up doing 2 rotors and 4 pads on one car and another set of pads and rotors on another.
