Came for the haircut, stayed for the floorshow. I feel like the hometown barbershop is a dying breed. Too often as men, we are relegated to the SportClips and the Great Cuts hair options. Ya, you can TELL those places what you want, but you're gonna get the same cut the guy before you got. NOT at MSBS. The stylists LISTEN to their clients, and they offer great advice. I wanted a certain cut once, and two or three persuaded me to go different. Said the cut wouldn't look good for me. Glad they did, because my wife completely agreed! If you have a bad experience here, more than likely, its YOUR fault. Or for that matter, maybe don't bring your squirmy rugrat to get a cut and expect to just check out while its happening? I will KEEP going here every two weeks, I ALWAYS walk out feeling better physically and sometimes the banter and conversation is top notch. If you want the same ol' same ol' production line haircut, go to a "sports barbershop" whatever that is. If you want quality and care, Main Street Barbershop is your only choice. read more

Went in and waited for a quick neck clean up / edge in the back before a wedding and they tried to charge $35 for the normal haircut price. I've got my haircut here a couple times but that service is always cheaper at every barber shop I've been to. Pretty disappointed in the service. The owner was not accommodating. read more

I wish I could give this place more stars but the service I received just didn't meet expectations. I came for a razor shave and the process was extremely rushed. I now have a razor burn on the side of my head. Alongside that, they only take payments in the form of cash, checks, or zelle payments. I live walking distance from here and had only been here once about four years ago. It wasn't a warm reception and my barber acted like she wanted to be anywhere but there. Today I thought I would give them another try for convenience - and my visit turned into a great experience. Kelli worked on me today and was as pleasant and friendly as any barber could be. She was talkative without being too chatty and funny without trying to put on a show. I asked for a low fade and she gave me exactly what I wanted. This is one of the best haircuts I have had in a while. Kelli didn't rush through it like they do at some of the cookie cutter "barber shops," and she really paid attention to detail. Her cuts will only get even better as she gets more used to my style and my thick javelina hair. She cleaned me up well and styled it just right. I can't wait to come back here again. Absolutely horrible! I wish I could leave zero stars. Brought my son here for the first time and Victoria absolutely butchered his hair. She didn't listen to him at all and cut it way too short. My son was in literal tears. This place doesn't let you look at the mirror so you have no idea how bad they are f***ing up your hair until it is far too late. Looking for a professional barber and a great haircut with the old timey feel of yesteryear then Main Street Barber Shop is the place for you. I suggest you stop by during the day time, heck even lunch is a good time to stop by. As soon as you walk in, look to your left there will be a person to greet you (that is if they are not all cutting hair.) There is a sign in sheet that they direct you to sign. Sign up and take a seat or if your lucky they will take you right away. Some guys I notice have a particular barber they want to use. And they are willing to wait two or three people before their turn. Since this was my second time here in about three years I wasn't going to wait. Helene originally from Long Island NY was my barber. (Not sure if a women can be called a barber but I think they can.) She knew what she was doing. She asked how I wanted my hair cut, (two on the sides and scissors up top) and went about her business. She was cutting away very professionally. All the while we were having conversations about my job, her son and about Grapevine's Grapefest. When she almost done she brought a mirror up for me to inspect. I needed some extra trimming and she was happy to oblige. Once she completed she used shaving cream from my neck and sideburns. What was also nice was she trimmed my eyebrows, which was good because I had whole Professor Xavier thing going on and they needed to be maintained. The only con I have for the barber shop is that its cash only. In reality its not a big deal but they should have it posted on the outside. Extra bonus is that they have a pop corn machine (free popcorn), soda ($1 a bottle) and lots of magazines geared towards dudes. I'm writing this review on behalf of the hubs, and as a big fan of their work. Every time he comes home from here, I'm convinced he is more handsome. The sweet older woman, Gloria, who co-owns the shop with her husband is who regularly cuts his hair. She's been really helpful and patient in helping my husband figure out what kind of hair cut looks good on his head. This shop is an old fashioned barber shop, with lots of cool things to look at. My husband is sligggghtly socially awkward, and he really appreciates the fact that Gloria respects his desire to get his hair cut in small-talk free silence. The whole staff is friendly and professional. Great prices for personalized attention. Word to the wise - cash only! read more

This is the best place to get my son's haircut. He is 3 years old and LOVES this place. It is the only place that he does not cry at to get his haircut. It truly has the feel of years past and a simple time and the people there are the absolute best. My husband also gets his haircut there and loves the attention they give him, the extra mile they go with the hot towel and straight edge shave on the back of the neck. If you want to feel what it was like in a simple time with some great people and fun conversations with getting a good haircut, I highly recommend Main Street Barber. The guys wear the "Floyd" style white lab coats, the chairs are true antique barber chairs, and the walls are covered in authentic bric a brac of yesteryear. Free popcorn, free big red sugar candies and old fashion coke bottle dispensers. Even a ten cent riding horse for the kids. Everyone has a favorite barber (Mine's Vanessa) and they all treat you like they see you daily. Haircuts, a straight razor neck trim, a hot towel, and clean up with a high powered vaccum. The price is right, I've never had a bad cut, and the experience keeps me coming back. Just remember they only take cash or check, and theres parking both in the front and out back. A classic old barber shop, with easy-talking, skilled barbers. I've been going here for a couple months now, and I've been very happy with the quality of the service and most importantly the haircuts themselves. They usually finish it off with a nice, warm shaving cream and razor neck trim. With a great location right off of Main Street, plenty of good magazines, and $1 cokes, it's the barber shop experience we were raised with and for $17 a haircut, it beats the Sport Clips / Great Clips / Shit Clips any day of the week. read more

I walked out with an uneven cut, shaved almost to my scalp so that it couldn't be repaired unless they shaved all the way up the other side to match, I was bleeding from a razor nick behind my ear and they shaved into my beard on one side attempting to "even out" my sideburns. All of this the day before Thanksgiving holiday! They can't possibly repair the haircut without making my hair much worse. I called them to explain and told them that rather than righting a negative review that o would rather be up front and let them offer a resolution - they said go ahead and write a review. Avoid this place if you are in the mood for a straight razor shave. Their dull razor and continuos cutting over the same area up to six times left me so razor rashed and bloody that even their styptic gel couldn't stop my bleeding. I left there with about five days of skin recovery necessary to get my face back. The haircut was ok and the nostalgia of the shop was nice. Prices are high given their Main Street location in Grapevine. I've had a haircut or two over the last 60 years and I must say MSBS is a step back in time. The owners are fantastic, the haircut reasonably priced and the quality second to none.
