Brittnee cut my son's hair today, and the result was very disappointing. The cut was uneven, with choppy spots and longer pieces sticking out. When my son politely pointed out the areas that needed fixing, she refused, saying she didn't have time, and then walked away toward the front desk to check him out. He was so unhappy with the haircut that he went straight to another salon, where he had to pay for a second cut and ending up with much shorter hair just to fix her mistakes. I am extremely frustrated that I paid full price for such poor service. read more

This location is wonderful great staff. They are clean and friendly they definitely know how to cut hair and are very professional at what they do. This review isn't about doubting what they can do, it's about what they didn't do. I feel like I was lied too. On 8-15-2019 around 1 pm I walked in to schedule an appointment for that same afternoon. I asked the lady at the register if they could dye my hair at this location she said "yes" so I scheduled the appointment to dye my hair and to get it cut as well. The appointment was set. That afternoon I returned the stylist that helped me asked if I was going to dye my hair and I said yes. Then she asked if I was going to get it cut too and I said yes. I gave the stylist my instructions for what I would like. She agreed... as soon as she started she said she was going start with cutting my hair first because that way I wouldn't need so much product to get it dyed. I said that is fine, you know what you are doing. After the hair cut was completed she left for a few minutes to get advise on how to go about in dyeing my hair from a few other stylists. When she returned she said that they can't dye my hair because they don't have the material for what I was asking for. I have black hair I just wanted a dark brown color nothing exotic because my job will not allow it. She was sweet to apologize and I thank her for that or I would've been far more upset. She did refer me to their competition across the street to get the dye done. After I left this location I went straight there and they were closed. I was lied too with the expectation that I was going to get my hair dyed and a hair cut all at once. If they would have told me upfront that they would not be able to dye my hair I would have just scheduled an appointment with a different location saving myself from having my time wasted. Now I have to look for another place to dye my hair. Thank a bunch guys. Like I said this isn't to take anything away from what great work the stylist do this was about my situation and how things could have been handled differently if they would have been honest with me from the beginning. Update 3/10/20 The client experience is an highly important event. My wait wasn't extremely longer than scheduled however the professional was rushed based upon not being ready (their favorite clippers weren't charged) for the day. I've had days like those but made sure that the client knew no different. I set up the appointment online and got the regular $35 cut along with the nose waxing. After being rushed through the haircut and very quick wash no one mentioned the additional nose waxing. I didn't pay for it however I didn't receive the service nor was asked by the cashier. I assumed that Finley's Southlake must be too busy to do that service as well. read more

I have a picky 8 yo. He's all about his hair. He wanted to keep it long on top but wanted it to be cleaned up around the sides. He was starting off pretty shaggy- 3+ inches of hair to work with. Showed a picture to the barber for an idea and stressed "long on top". He must have left his readers at home when looking at the pic bc we asked for Harry styles, bro gave slim shady from 1999, bangs and all. Buy him a metal ball chain necklace, plain white tee and he's set for Halloween. Guy def only knew 1 haircut. It's so shorrrrrrt! He'll grow it back out but we're still on the hunt for a good barber who knows about medium length men's/boy's hair. read more

Maybe I am old fashioned, maybe my expectations are too high, but when I make an appointment with a specific Barber and their booking system shows they are available and I get both a confirmation email and a reminder email listing the same name - especially when I make it several days ahead of time - I expect to get the person that I requested. Apparently, that is just it a "request" in that providing they are available, you will get them, otherwise you are just treated as a walk-in and you get whoever's chair is empty at that time. I would get it if it happened once, in fact the first time it happened, I needed a cut and it worked out well, as the Barber gave me the best haircut I had in years. But despite booking 4 days in advance, the same thing happens again - and I arrive to be handed over to another stylist - when I ask about who I booked with, I am told he is fully booked for the rest of the night and basically "too bad - so sad". Now it could be that a booking is just a "Request", maybe there was a mix up, quite how I don't know since again I got both a confirmation and reminder email with the same person I booked online. Maybe I got "Bumped" because a regular wanted my timeslot and the shop just felt I would be happy with anyone... Who knows? I certainly don't because Any attempt to escalate has brought no response. There is just a generic feedback form on their website - I did fill one out. No-one came back to me. I would email, but apparently publishing contact emails, well I guess I can compare it to getting the actual barber I booked. Clearly Corporate couldn't care less to hear what is actually going on, they must feel its all unicorns and rainbows. At the end of the day I guess I should be thankful, it gives me the chance to find someone who believes in Customer Service - that is something that is clearly in the Past at Finleys. read more

I'm a big fan of finding a barber who is passionate about their work, good at their craft, and provides consistent results. Any male expecting to go a Sport Clips, Super Cuts, or any other Wal-Mart grade salon and get a haircut they will be satisfied with is living in the twilight zone. In the past 7 years I have gone through three different barber's, each of which were great initially but the quality waned with time. All of this changed when I met Vonne at Finley's in Southlake. Through a quick Google search I came upon Finley's, I was impressed by the look and feel the shop gave off. This prompted me to schedule an appointment where my first cut was with Vonne. I was immediately impressed by his skill and knew I would be coming back to see him and ONLY him. It takes a lot for me to feel comfortable enough to say, "Do what you think is going to look good!" but I truly trust his judgement. Vonne will not sacrifice the quality of his work for the sake of time, he is not about filling his chair and moving on to the next customer. In fact, my last visit ran a little longer than scheduled (30mins), he asked me to schedule a cut and beard trim (I can't grow a beard to save my life) going forward so he can ensure he has enough time to finish my hair. This shows he not only cares about my needs but also the needs of his other customers. I've got to know Vonne fairly well as time has progressed, he's a true family man and I always enjoy our conversations, which makes the visit more enjoyable. This place is pretty mediocre. I think there are a few talented barbers hidden within, however the business model and vibe really turn me off. I've been here multiple times and received cuts from barbers with varying degrees of competency and one thing has been consistent: the assembly line approach. During each of my cuts at Finley's there has been limited discussion regarding the style, what I was seeking in my cut, and any suggestions from the barber. Typically the interaction is more along the lines of: "How much do you want off the top and how close on the sides?" (and then straight to the clippers) At this price point, I expect a more consultative approach. I recommend going elsewhere if you're looking for a more tailored experience from a high quality barber, since you likely won't receive either at Finley's. read more

This place has gone downhill fast! Prior to March of 2020 a normal cut was $35 and you had your choice of beverages, sports channels, etc.. It was worth the price. When they reopened the store their prices went up to $40 but they removed the beverages (which is understood due to the pandemic) and also removed sports channel from the TVs. Seems like the store isn't doing well and the owners are cutting costs everywhere they can but raising their prices. In addition to these couple of items their booking service online is not showing all of their available appointments. I was fortunate to have the person that cuts my hair cell number to book an appointment. Schedule online showed their next available appointment in 7 days but when I texted them they said they had many appointments available that same day as well as several others prior to what it showed online. To top it off I got a haircut there today and received the typical email to complete a survey about the visit. Normally I just delete the email but decided to let the owners know some of the above items. The link takes you to a web page that says "this survey is no longer active". Needless to say if you want an overpriced haircut this is your place, but I will not be going back. read more

I can honestly say a haircut is not just a haircut at Finley's, it's an experience. I was able to enjoy an excellent haircut done by the barber Vonne in an upscale environment. There was no wait because I was able to schedule the visit in advance and when I got there early I was able to enjoy a cold one on their plush leather chairs in the lounge. The barber, Vonne, is the game changer when compared to some of the other "upscale" barbershops I had been to. The conversation was good because he was relatable and knowledgeable. He used clippers, scissors and a razor like an artist. It was the best experience I've had, not to mention I'm still getting compliments on the haircut! Came here on a Saturday and there was a wait but we were able to get an appointment the same day. The place is vey nice and has a modern vintage feel to it. Smells very nice inside like a spa. The waiting area is nice as well, stocked with complimentary drinks, including beer and wine. Each station has a small TV. The hair cuts are $30, beard trim with a trimmer is $12, but if you want a beard trim with a razor, you have to make an appointment with a barber. read more

Jose. That dude is the real deal. I've been all over the country (traveling for work). Been to barbers from Jersey to Cali. Jose gave me a fade and then a straight razor shave by hand. No silly small talk. No gossip about Life's challenges. Took his time. Focused on the cut. The result: a perfect haircut. I walked out of there the happiest I've ever been after a haircut. Ever. Probably gotten more compliments on that haircut than any prior. I'll schedule my haircuts for when I'm in Dallas / Southlake for my haircuts now... straight up. I stumbled upon Finley's after having lunch, and was in dire need of a cut. I didn't even know that they had appointments or that I could even set it online, but they got to me quickly anyway. Unfortunately, I can't remember the gentleman's name that was working the front counter, but he was very friendly and helpful. I was assigned Victor, and he did an amazing job. He was training a new barber on how to properly do a fade and how to cut the top properly so it would style correctly. He knows what he is doing and I highly recommend him. They were priced a little higher than most barbers in the area, but offer more of a service than just a cut and shave. I have been paying their normal rate at my previous barber, after tip, but wasn't receiving the same quality or extent of service. I was told they also offer a beard trim and conditioning service that I will be trying on one of my next visits. Classy shop with very friendly service. Recommend them to anyone looking for a quality shop with a knowledgeable barber. Hard to beat having a cold beer while you wait for a quality cut. read more

There is no better way to shine as a small business than "turning around" a client by the staff from a terrible experience to a really good one. That is my story at this barber shop. I went in originally and had a bad experience due to a series of events with a new employee that are no longer fit for this review. The manager Jose took it upon himself to call me the next day in order to make it right. I went back again and had the best shave of my life. The careful attention to detail, the many creams and eucalyptus gels make the whole experience feel like an aromatherapy massage session. It even include a short shoulder massage at the end. I can't say enough about an employee making right a mistake that anyone can make. It's normal to have mishaps it's just not vey common to see people that really care to make a difference. I've been taking my son to Finley's for over a year now. He and I have loved the service every time he goes. All of the staff greet us with friendly smiles each time we visit! He has had several different services and we are always very happy each time we leave. I'm not sure when Vonne came to Finleys.....but I think Julian was lucky enough to sit in Vonne's chair the first week! I can't say enough good things about Vonne and his Barber skills. Vonne is always very professional and knows how to talk with my son.....and that's a skill in itself.....being that Julian is 15! He always cuts Julian's hair with perfection and precision.
