Really great place to play some pool. Staff was super friendly and told us about all future events and specials which I thought was great. Good option for bar food (I didn't eat there so can't comment on if it's good or not) Great beer options and reasonably priced. If you're not drinking and just playing pool this is very inexpensive. I will for sure come back with some friends. They also have a full functioning jukebox so you can choose a song if you want which is a great addition. read more

Big dude with gauges is a straight up a**hole. ALWAYS rude. Don't bother coming in Monday - Thursday if you want to play pool. Their "league" literally takes up every quarter table all night. This place was the worst. Horrible and rude service. It was my birthday and I and my family came here to play pool and celebrate. We were there for two hours by the time my brother arrived and he went up to the bar to ask where our party was sitting. The "manager" was extremely rude to him saying "Are you SURE you are meeting a party here? We can't just have people like you wandering around in here". My brother has some issues and mental illness and this really really offended him and hurt his feelings. That isn't how you should talk to customers, or just people in general. Either way, we were moving on. He then continued to stare us down for the next hour or so while we played and I opened my presents and we ate cupcakes. He made it very uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Lastly, I guess there was no outside food allowed which is understandable. My mom had brought some home made cupcakes for me. The manager claimed he told my little brother they weren't allowed inside but that message never got relayed to any of us. For 3 hours he let them sit on our table without approaching any adult and asking us to take them outside which we gladly would have. He then walked over to the table and said "these can't be in here" and I responded with "ok well we will be leaving now so that won't be a problem, you've already made us feel unwelcome". He then picked up the box of cupcakes and tried to throw them in the trash and the he started mocking me and saying "happy birthday you guys are 86ed" and accusing us of being intoxicated when none of us had any alcoholic drinks at all. He just needed an excuse to kick us out. I grabbed the box of cupcakes back before he threw them away and at this point I decided to never give this establishment any of my money ever again. We had done nothing wrong. He didn't tell us once that we had to take them outside. We had some cupcakes god forbid. And I wasn't gonna let him throw my birthday cupcakes away. I was so irritated at this point so I cussed him out while leaving and that felt good. My brother threw a cupcake at him which was wrong, but damn was it funny. VERY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF/MANAGER. The young kid with the hat was nice so there's that at least. 10/10 do not recommend this place, especially if you're trying to be treated like a human being. Owners should re-evaluate who is running their establishment. Unless that pretentious, stick up your ass vibe is what they're going for. Hopefully it's only that one manager (tall-ish young guy with dark hair) that is a fun sucker that has a stick up his ass. Oh, and the whole place was kinda dull. I've been to this place multiple times in the past couple of years. However, this was my first time coming back since COVID-19. I was ready to play pool and come back to a place where I would hang out on weekends and late nights. However, when I walked in with my date, the man at the bar, who was a skinner white male with a trucker hat, on told us to leave automatically without properly providing pleasant customer service. We had a plastic bag with us because we just came from a LYFT. We were going to politely ask the male worker to see if it was possible to put the bag behind the bar or somewhere else where we won't be able to get into it. (Since we didn't have no where else to put the bag.) Instead, we were greeted with hostility and were automatically told to leave when we walked through the doors without any explanation. The man was using a hostile tone and wouldn't even let me speak. I tried asking 'why?' but he would just talk over me. As the mans voice grew louder and attracted the attention of nearby customers, I just left because this man was being so rude and mean. I never had this much hostility and disrespect happen to me before. If you want to play a good game of pool, Main St. Billiards IS NOT the place for you. MSB offers free pool all day on Sundays for college kids with ID. What a freaking deal!!! I can practice pool all day long in the air conditioned comfort of MSB. They have a ton of tables and the place was nearly dead empty when I went on Sunday. They rent out pool cues for a buck because people like to break them on the tables in frustration. So it's kind of a liability thing but I don't mind, I just paid NOTHING to shoot pool for as long as I want! They have a ton of beers available as well, including my all time favorite, Newcastle, which was perfectly chilled and extremely refreshing and smooth. The guy up front was hella badass and made sure we always had a fresh Newcastle. I highly recommend this place. read more

Driving down Apache towards Mesa where it turns into Main Street is like driving in some other country. Due to the light rail construction, The streets are uncomfortably narrow, there are confusing signs, people drive in weird and unfathomable ways and you can never be quite sure of how you're going to get to your destination. However, tucked away on this *ahem* quiet street, between Dobson and Alma School. Is a little pocket of goodness. In the shadow of Filiberto's, lies a vast expanse of dark tinted glass and a sign announcing that you have reached Main Street Billiards. The outside is appropriately dodgy enough to appeal to the seediest of characters (like myself), but the inside is well lit, clean, and of course, smoke free. It may not be the sort of joint you'd expect to see "Fast Eddie" from The Hustler sharking in. It's not some ritzy genteel Billiards clubhouse either. It's basic, and clean with full size tables by the hour, reasonably straight cues and quality balls. It's the sort of place you wouldn't feel out of place bringing your own cue to, but not the sort of place where you'd feel out of place just showing up to with a couple of friends and making fools of yourselves. Which, is one of my specialties. The place doesn't seem to get too crowded and it looks like a great place to come to alone and spend a few hours doing practice drills. read more

My husband set up a group event at Main Street Billiards as a social mixer for an organization he is involved in. Since we booked for a Tuesday night, a non-league night for them, management gave us a great deal on an entire section of the hall with table rental, balls, & cues all included in the price. This is hands-down the nicest, cleanest pool hall I've ever been in. All of the equipment was in great shape and the entire facility seemed very well-maintained. There was a juke box with a good selection of tunes, and the music wasn't too loud so you could easily converse with your party. When we arrived we were greeted by the friendly management who showed us to our area and gave us everything we needed for our group. The entire staff was very accommodating and timely on our food & drink orders. Food was standard snack bar fare, but was very good. Pizza, wings, chicken strips, nachos, soft pretzels... The wings were meaty with a moderate amount of spice. Better than I had anticipated. There was a full bar with a good selection of beer & other malt beverages bottled & on tap, and mixed drinks. Prices weren't bad in my opinion. If you enjoy activities like bowling, I would definitely recommend Main Street Billiards as a great place to hang out & do something different with your friends or family (Yes, it is a family-friendly establishment). read more

First off, this place is open til 2am. They do have very good prices on pool and specials. Also, I would not really consider this place to have a "Full Bar." They can make cheap basic drinks like well rum and coke, screwdrivers, etc. Was pretty sad about that because these days I like to drink whiskey on the rocks. They had some kind of house whiskey mixed with orange wine as I remember them telling me. I have lived in the valley since 1999 and I have been to almost all of the pool halls in the valley that are worth visiting. I love this place, the staff are amazing, the tables (all 42 of them) are in great shape. Main Street Billiards has been a mainstay of the Mesa, greater Phoenix pool scene since its grand opening in 1992. With 42 tables, it is the largest pool hall in the East Valley. Main Street currently hosts a total of 3 weekly tournaments (Check out our Tournament Schedule!) that appeal to different skill levels, as well as several competitive pool leagues. Great place for family and friends, there is pay per hr/ per head, or by quarters. It is $5 per head for hourly. $1 per game for quarters (note: quarter table is smaller than hr table.) A great place to hang out however it is my 1st time here and i did not kno the drink prices. I got charged $20 for 2 drinks, when it was actually only $10. When i later learned the prices of the drinks, i told the bartender and i was told he couldnt do anything bcuz he didnt take my order. read more

The place is clean. And it's professional. With one exception. I didn't pay too much to the fact that the hall was a bit segregated. Until we played Spanish music and the owner felt the need to skip it, because he "loses business" due to the Spanish music. I had my father with me (who likes all music) and he is also Hispanic and likes Hispanic music and felt a bit disrespected and profiles and it's the first time in his life, so that hurts. I've visited a number of bars / pool halls, and this place wowed me! It was spotless clean, tables were pristine and the service was helpful. There are a number of regulars there, but we had fun laughing and joking with people playing around us. They had a good music selection set at a volume that we didn't have to shout over. They have two options for pool: $3.50 per hour play, or $1 per game. You can rent pool sticks for $1 for the night. GF and I spent 2 hours and with drinks and pool left with a $15 bill--well worth it. read more

I live very close to Main Street Billiards so I know how sketchy the area is. I had intended to go here for pool a few years ago, but talked myself out of it because of the neighborhood (before I moved to it....). So when my BF took me here to play, I was taken by surprise to see the interior is super clean and well lit. It was league night (Thursday) and we just stopped in to talk to some folks. There are plenty of tables to play on, so on non-Thursday I would imagine it is not hard to get a spot to play. The drinks are cheap and there is food, though I did not try anything. My wife and I met some family here to shoot some pool and hang out. I was surprised at how clean this place actually is. It was very nice, and pool tables were in pristine condition. I was super excited. We were there for about 30 min when I started feeling how hot it was in there. I started sweating pretty bad. We asked if they could fire up the AC and the waitress agreed how hot it was, instead they opened a 3' x 6' door. Like that would cool it down. I was about going to put some money in the jukebox because it was awkwardly quiet in there, only to realize the jukebox was on and it was just playing quietly.... I went to the bar and bought a round of beers for my group and asked them to turn the music up, the waitress was asking the guy as I walked away and he said "its loud enough"... Nobody even knew it was on bro!! Id be willing to check it out again. Hopefully next time its not a sauna... read more

Have been there only 2x during daylight. No info on "night play." Probably easy to get a game. Very Clean. Tables & lighting well designed well placed. Balls in good shape (clean, no signs of long term use). Have personal cue. Go there for pool. Very limited snack menu, basic bar, friendly bar keep/cook. No snobs or jerks. Will update review as when useful. Update 11.17.2015 Pool tables are all in good condition. 3 Diamond tables for "players." are kept up very well and placed for minimum interruption by other customers. Over priced (?) at $80 per month for unlimited play pass. Other Gandy tables for $50 per month pass (unlimited play) very good deal for league level players. Intersection of Sycamore and Main requires considerable caution when making a left onto Main after dark. Pedestrian sometimes wear dark clothing and walk slowly. read more

I had a couple hours to kill in Phoenix on a business trip. I went here and found that it was a very nice and clean pool hall. I played a couple hours on a 9 foot diamond and had a great time. I have no complaints and would recommend it. Lots of diamond and gold crown tables, all in very nice shape. read more

We went here last night. It cost us $10 per person plus $1 per pool stick and we didn't get to choose weight on it. The pool sticks were in terrible condition and weren't straight in the slightest. On top of that, the service was terrible. We got ignored the whole night by our server except for two occasions: I was walking between tables and she said "I'm right here, move" and she accused my cousin of throwing the ball holder on the floor. Other than that, we didn't see her at all. We had to go to the desk to order food and drinks. If that's your thing, then go for it. If you are looking to be treated like a human being and a paying customer, do not go here. read more
