Nice record store in Milltown, NJ - friendly staff, informative and interesting selection. They also buy record collections, so I will call Darren after I finish my inventory and am ready to sell.

What a gem. You could spend $5 or $500 and be equally satisfied. Huge rotating selection, everything fairly priced. I got a sonic youth record and a lee Morgan. Two lees. Lots of digging to be had, and a rare jazz heaven. My older brother goes here on the regs and is always showing me the random stuff he finds. Great selection of metal too. If you're in the area or looking for a cool dig spot, look no further.

LOOK AT THAT FREAKING SCRATCH, FOLKS !

I am only writing this review based on a negative 1 star review from a man named PETER P. I have never been to Revilla but I had a similar encounter with this PETER P. person in my record store about two months ago. The man was ignorant; He had rare records but way over valued. I did purchase 4 records. One had a scratch across the entire side of the record (which I admit, I didn't catch when purchasing). Once the scratch was discovered, I called PETER P. and sent numerous e mails regarding the scratch and even sent photos and I said that he did not trade in good faith. I asked for a fair refund of money regarding the scratch. He refused to work with me and said he priced his records fairly. I STILL have all four of them - I'm ready to sell them for less than what I paid him for the four records. By the way - I took a photo of the scratch to show him what I was talking about. I still have the phot and will attach my photo of the scratch here. He is a big time wheeler dealer, fast talking, lying seller - and he deals with high valued merchandise. If he ever comes your way - refuse to even allow him to enter your business. It's more than just vinyl he peddles, so BEWARE ! - Best of luck to Revilla and your store !

This is the kind of LP store that collectors dream of finding: Clean premises, excellent demo gear (AKG headphones? We're definitely not in Manhattan!), interesting oddities, tons of vintage used tube and SS gear (Marantz, Yamaha, Prima Luna, Audio Prism) and a selection of LPs that is second to none, and thankfully NOT PICKED OVER!. What really makes it a pleasure is owner Darren Revilla, who is friendly, generous, and as helpful as he can possibly be. I was tipped off by a friend who posts on FaceBook's Jazz Vinyl Lovers that this small store in a small town was the bomb. He was so right. I made the trip from Manhattan (NJT to New Brunswick, than a $12 Uber ride) specifically to check out Darren's mint condition Japanese LPs, which included titles from Blue Note, Prestige, Savoy, Vee Jay and Riverside. Prices were very good, between $20 and $35, and condition was mint. These LPs were unplayed! Apparently Darren bought tons of LPs and some extremely high end audio gear from a guy who bought the merchandise then kept in his basement, untouched. I was floored, my wallet opened, I was happy. The catalog stock was also excellent, with plenty of unusual rock, soundtrack, contemporary classical, Latin, International and jazz including rare LP titles from Dorothy Ashby,Stan Getz, Miles Davis, a Rufus Speedy Jones LP (which I nabbed) and many more that I had to leave behind. Revilla Grooves reminds you that deals can be had even today, and travelling away from the major urban hubs is definitely worth the trip if you're lucky enough to find a class act like Darren Revilla's Revilla Grooves.

I got 2 for $1 each (insane) and was almost positive they would be scratched and skip. Not the case. They played wonderfully. The others I got were not expensive at all and all also played wonderfully. When I stopped by they had a few crates outside, all for $1 a record. Not only did I find a Leo Sayer album in those bins, but also a old Greek movie soundtrack! I didn't know the artist and it ended up not really being my favorite, but I just thought it was so cool and couldn't resist, and for a dollar?! I am very sure my dad will get such a kick out of it when I show him. I walked out with those two gems plus an Abba, Smokey Robinson and Johnny Cash album and I think I spent like $20. I chatted with the owner a bit who was really friendly and helpful. Their old loc was near the corner of Somerset and Easton for all you RU alums that are wondering how you may have missed them all these years. They had some cool vintage/antique pieces and nick knacks, but not many (hence the %5) but I highly recommend a browse around if you are looking for affordable records or just want to browse around a great little shop. Thank you for the newest additions to my very thin collection!

I popped in Saturday March 11th for a look see. I had heard about them from a family member that…read morepasses through there every day. I generally go to The Record Exchange in Princeton, NJ or Double Decker Records in Allentown, PA for the selection and pricing. This store is tiny by those standards, but they had some titles that would normally be snatched up in a busier store. For that I was grateful. The owner is eager, but I fear that he might be stretching himself a bit thin carrying a couple of arcade machines, some stereo equipment, a listening station that takes up about 25% of his capacity, books, T-Shirts and cassettes. I wouldn't mess with half of that stuff if I were him. There were alot of records I could never get through because they were literally on the floor and my back doesn't care for that. The guitars and arcade machines have to go. Not enough space. He was having a dollar sale on several boxes of records, but many of them were too banged up to consider. I'd call it a day on 80% of them in his shoes. It's a decent space, but it's definitely out of the way for most folks. Belvidere is farm country, but they are on the main drag with a liquor store, a coffee shop, a CBD store and a bodega all within close proximity. Parking was decent. The prices were a little high, but I can forgive some of that due to his store size and relatively small selection. I found maybe 10 records I wanted at their price points and I got out of there for $120. Try doing that at those other stores I mentioned. One really cool thing is that the actual price tags peel right off the LP jackets without the need for Goo Gone or worrying about ripping the covers. Almost all of them were already in plastic sleeves which really classed up the joint. Keeps the fingerprints off the good ones. Most of actual vinyl I looked at was in fairly good shape. I found a smattering of $5-$7 records to buy so that was good. I would say there were another 5-7 records I would have bought if their prices were maybe $5 cheaper. A used record, unless it's very rare and or in extremely high demand, should never exceed $20 in my opinion. At that point you may as well buy a new one. I got the impression this guy was a rookie retailer, but he was extremely accommodating and even offered coffee to the folks shopping. Not a particularly good idea with the likelihood of one handed spillage high, but it spoke to his humanity. I was impressed. Their logo is very cool and I would have bought a jersey from them, but they didn't have my size. In summation, if you are around Central NJ, give this guy some love. He could use it. I'll definitely be back for sure.
